Advantages: Keeps skin clean, clear and feeling refreshed. Good price. Not overdrying.
Disadvantages: Contains alcohol so probably not good for really sensitive skin. Suitable for sensitive-normal skin.
I was getting some pretty bad breakouts so I basically wanted a product that would help to keep things under control. However around the same time, my skin had also become rather dry so I was also looking for something that wasn't too harsh. Originally I was going to purchase the Clinique 3-step system for skin type 2, but the price plus not knowing whether it would work for me, did make me a little hesitant. That's when I came across the Tea Tree & Witch Hazel range from Boots. I needed a new cleanser and on a 3 for 2 offer, I thought it'd be a good opportunity to get a few products at once.
What I like about this range is not only is it fairly cheap, tea tree & witch hazel are known to be good for skin prone to breakouts. Plus most of the products' descriptions claimed to keep the skin clear without overdrying. Which was something I really needed! After much contemplation, I ended up buying the cleansing and towing lotion along with the night treatment gel, and the day and night spot wand. I've been using all 3 products on a daily basis for a few months now and wow, what a difference they have made!
The Cleansing and Toning Lotion comes in a clear plastic bottle with a white flip-top lid. The product itself is light green in colour and has the same consistency as water. It costs around £3 but for 150ml of product I'd say that's pretty good. Not to mention it actually works. The idea is to apply some of the product to a cotton wool pad and then sweep over your face and neck, and repeating until the cotton wool pad comes off clean. This cleanser really does a good job of cleaning your face. I even used it to remove my makeup on several occasions, and granted it did take a few cotton pads, but my skin did end up free of makeup. It also gives you a slight tingling sensation as though it really is unclogging all of your pores. Plus it has a fairly nice smell to it, in my opinion.
Although not mentioning anything about being for sensitive skin (a product I would have preferred), and despite the second ingredient being alcohol, my skin has never felt too dry or uncomfortable. Instead it's just left feeling clean and refreshed :) One word of warning would be to not get it near your eyes, of course. I really like this product and I am now on my second bottle. Since using this and the other two products I bought with it, I have had hardly any breakouts, just the odd one spot. What's more, whenever I do get a spot, it's barely even noticeable without makeup! And then is completely gone in a couple of days.
Highly recommend this and the night treatment gel for definite. Although I'd also recommend the shine control moisuriser for oily T-zones, and the day and night spot wand as an extra precaution ;)
Summary: A good buy and at 3 for 2, great way to try out the range! Will buy again.
