Boots Time Delay Wrinkle Reduce eye cream
I bought this some time back when I had one of those great £5 off vouchers that Boots are so good at tempting you with. I chose it as it was a small tube and easy to pop in my little bag when we were travelling. I am sure I paid a couple of quid extra on top of my voucher but on Boots website it says it is less than a fiver now. I think I better get in there quickly as i have just finished my tube.
I do have laughter lines at the sides of my eyes, otherwise known as crow's feet and I have not always been very good at looking after my skin. Somehow when I was younger and had the children other things seemed to be a priority. I also spent about twelve years in Brisbane Australia, the skin cancer capital of the world and while I didn't lie out stupidly in the sun, we were living in the country and obviously spent time outside. I am paying for this now and doing major damage limitations on my skin to try and save my face from turning into a bit pile of lines and wrinkles like a bulldog.
PACKAGING
This cream comes in a 15ml clear plastic tube with a nozzle and a tiny hole so not too much comes out at one time. The nozzle has a screw type lid to ensure it is sealed and kept hygienically clean. The tube really isn't fancy and has the name in silver on the front while directions and description is found on the back.
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?
You only need a tiny amount and using very light pats of your finger to apply this cream around your eyes blending it slightly upwards. You are supposed to apply this night and morning but i do sometimes give it another dose during the day if we are somewhere hot and I have washed my face during the day again.
WHAT DO BOOTS PUT IN THIS LITTLE TUBE?
The blurb on the product claims that it contains "antioxidant skin-firming complex" and "light diffusing particles" for radiance.
Something called Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride which is apparently made from coconut oil and glycerine which helps prevent the skin losing too much moisture.
Ginseng extract which is a great natural ingredient that both tones and invigorates the skin and makes the skin look and feel tighter.
Mica is a natural mineral and is something that helps create the illusion of lighter and brighter skin as it has light refracting qualities. This is something that is in a lot of skin creams and foundations as it creates an illusion of a healthy bright skin.
White lupin extract is included as it helps to firm the skin, tone it and plump it up a little too so that under the eyes look less tired and heavy.
Vitamin C which not only has antioxidant qualities but also helps the skin rebuild its collagen.
Vitamin A sadly from controversial palm oil is included because it is supposed to be anti aging.
Hydrolysed wheat protein is there as it is nourishing for the skin helps to smooth and firm it too.Boots claim it also helps to minimise pores although I don't have enlarged pores around my eyes perhaps I should try this on my nose which does have that problem.
Something called Saccharomyces lysate extract which is also sometimes called live yeast cell derivative is included as it is believed to encourage the skin to make collagen . It is also soothing and moisturising so if it doesn't help with the collagen production at least it does that.
White mulberry extract is included as it helps to whiten the skin and is popular in Asia for this quality as light skin seems to be highly desirable.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS
The cream is a pale pink colour and has very little scent. I like the colour as it blends well with my skin unlike bright white creams. This is a very light feeling cream that spreads easily so doesn't drag the skin at all when applied. I find it really easy to apply it sinks in quickly and feels lovely cool and light.
The slight fragrance is like I have smelled in some foundations , a sort of make-up scent which is not really obvious .
In the interest of this review I popped a little on my hand so that I could see what difference it made. It soaked in very quickly but did leave a very nice slightly brighter patch on my hand. I can't say I noticed any shrinking of my pores but it certainly reflects the light back nicely on that small patch.
They manufacturers say that you should discard the product six months after opening. I have had mine about nine months and still used it till last week when it pretty well emptied.
I did like the fact that the tube is pretty thin plastic and so very easy to squeeze the product out. Because you cans squeeze gently you can easily just squeeze out a tiny amount as needed so there is very little waste.
When applying any eye cream it is important to dab gently and not to drag the skin at all. Dab in an upward movement moving outwards. Don't put pressure on the skin around the eyes as it is far more delicate that the skin elsewhere.
I found this was very easy to apply; it absorbed in easily and felt very light and cool after I applied it.
DO I LOOK TEN YEARS YOUNGER?
Well if I am honest no. I can't really expect to look younger but I am hoping that I am holding back the tides of time so that the lines don't get any worse. I have noticed that they don't seem to be getting any worse so I think that my regime is working.
My skin around my eyes is not baggy and saggy fortunately but I do think that this cream has helped make the skin look brighter. I always apply this before putting on my makeup or every day even when not wearing makeup. I put eye cream on every night too and then put my moisturiser on after wards so that my eye skin might get a double dose.
I do think the skin under my eyes looks firmer and a bit plumper than before I used this but it is some time since I began to use it so I cannot really remember what they looked like before. I do notice that the skin under my eyes has a nice sheen and brightness to it when I use this so i am more than happy with that.
WOULD I BUY THIS AGAIN?
Yes i think for the price it is that it does a great job of brightening and tightening the skin under my eyes. My skin looks fresher and lighter and therefore I feel better when I use this. Compared to other eye creams this is a lot cheaper and yet I do feel it does just as good a job. It may not be full of natural ingredients like the Ginzing Origins one I have but it is less than half the price. The tube is a very convenient packaging and dispensing design and I would not change that as it weighs almost nothing and never leaks when I pack it for travelling. You could even pop this in your handbag and re- apply during the day if you wanted as it is so small and neat.
I am hoping the price I saw on the internet is correct and will be replacing this empty tube when I next go into town.
