Advantages: Glowing skin

Disadvantages: Sticky

I bought this toner because the one I used previously, also by Boots, and wanted to purchase again seems to have disappeared off the shelves. From reading what someone on a beauty blog wrote I think it has been discontinued which is a shame because I prefer it to this one.

I bought this for Boot for under £2.40 for 200ml. I cannot remember the exact price and it is not on the Boots website.

This is a glycerin and rosewater toner from the Boots traditional skin care range. It comes in a plastic bottle which is more flat than round, with yellow labels and a yellow lid. The lid is a screw top and upon opening you will see that in the bottle neck is a rubber stopper with a hole in the middle to dispense.

To use I squirt some onto cotton wool and gently wipe round my face. I sometimes use a different side or clean piece of cotton wool for my chin as this area is prone to spots and I don't want to risk transferring any germs. It has a definite smell of rosewater but it is not over-powering and is quite plesant. I myself cannot smell it on the face, just on my hands.

My skin is left feeling quite sticky and greasy which you would think would go away after a minute or so. It does to some extent and leaves a nice glow on my face however it still feels a little sticky and like it is sitting on my face. It's a similar feeling to the one that the Nivea crème gives on my face the difference being I don't mind that too much as that is a moisturiser. This is a toner; I want to be able to put moisturiser on top sometimes as well. I would say the reason for this is because there is more glycerin in this one. The name is 'Glycerin and Rosewater'; the other one seemed to indicate the rosewater was more predominant.

You can apply this to your hands too according to the instructions but I would not want to - I would have to wash them straight away!

The back says it is a 'cooling, refreshing beautifier that softens and moisturisers the skin.' I think it does all this but at the cost of a sticky face. It definitively softens because unlike some toners it doesn't leave my face feeling tight after use. Rosewater has been used for years to refresh and hydrate the skin leaving it glowing. This I agree with. I just think there is a little too much glyerin in this.

I wouldn't purchase this again in a hurry. There are several I have read reviews on that I will try next. I have given this three stars because although everything else is great about it, it is just too sticky upon application for me.
