Boots Botanics Ultra Calm Skin Relief Serum
I bought this serum in July this year and one of the results I bought it was because it was 1/3 off the full price; also I need a new serum and as I have sensitive skin I thought this would be great.
- Product description (from boots)
"Scientifically proven to reduce skin sensitivity in 2 weeks. Immediately calms the skin. Enriched with calming marshmallow for sensitive skin. Liquorice and Linden Flower reduces redness."
- About the product and packaging
The serum comes in a tube which has a pump at the end which is great as it is easy and quick to use and it is hygienic too. The tube contains 30ml or 1 us fl oz of product which I have nearly managed to use up as I have been using it constantly since July (except for the week in which I was on holiday/cruise). The tube is fairly opaque although if I hold the tube up to a bright light I can see that I only have a tiny amount left. Overall, I really like the packaging and the pump dispenser is just so convenient.
- Using the product and results
I have been using this product once a day (in the evenings) constantly since July when I bought this product - I have a blog post about this product so I know roughly the date of purchase. I have been using this serum in the evenings before my moisturiser but I have used it a few times in the morning. A serum is supposed to be applied before your moisturiser and in the case of this product; it is supposed to reduce sensitivity and redness. The serum is an off white colour and it looks like a gooey substance but it is very smooth and silky - this serum, in my opinion, is similar to the expensive Caudalie Vinosource SOS Serum which I have tried. The first thing I notice about this product besides the very smooth texture is the scent - I don't really like scented skincare products as I find that most of them irritate my slightly sensitive skin but this product doesn't. This serum has a fresh cucumber and floral scent to it which I like but I would prefer that it didn't have a scent. To apply I just dispense one pump only onto my fingertips, then I distribute the product over my hands and apply gently to the skin. This serum applies like a dream; it is so smooth and silky that it glides over the skin so quickly and easily.
After application my skin feels hydrated, smooth and not irritated at all which is fantastic; I then apply my normal moisturiser. After using this product over a month I can say that, from my experience, this product has reduced the sensitivity of my skin - skincare products that irritated my skin before using this serum now do not irritate my skin! I think the reduction in the sensitivity of my skin is due to this product but it may just be caused by my skin naturally. I also think that the natural redness in my skin has been reduced but this is not a major change but it is noticeable to me. Overall, a really nice serum even just because it makes my skin really smooth, soft and hydrated! The reduction in the sensitivity and redness of my skin may be due to this product, and I think it is but I can't be certain.
- Price and availability
This product is still on offer at 1/3 off (as of 12/09/2012) so this serum is priced at £5.33 although the full price is £7.99 which I think is very reasonable as it performs/feels like the Caudalie serum which is £30. This product is available on the boots website and in store.
*Easy, quick and convenient to use

*Great price and I will buy another tube soon!
*I have nearly used up the whole 30ml tube in almost two months of continuous use (once a day)
*The reduction in the sensitivity and redness of my skin may not be due to this product but my skin naturally? And the reduction in sensitivity/redness is not major but it is a gorgeous serum!
