A gentle approach to dealing with problem skin, great product range.

Over the years I have tried many different products aimed to help reduce the misery of problem skin. And without even realising it I found myself becoming very familiar with the 'typical' ingredients contained in these products, and how they may help.

It is no challenge to find a face wash or treatment for spot prone skin, you just have to go into any chemist or supermarket and you'll be met by an aray of brands all claiming to cure or at the very least help you on your journey to obtaining a glowing complexion, and who can resist! The problem is finding one that works for you.

I was drawn to try burt bees anti blemish solution, purely on the basis that it was one I've never tried before and I have a soft spot (no pun intended!) for a 'natural' product. This cleansing solution comes in a simple, clear 145ml bottle, with the burt bees name. The product has been scientifically proven to help reduce blemish causing bacteria, excess oil and impurities without over-drying or irritating skin. It contains Salicylic Acid, a very common ingredient used for spot prone skin, derived naturally from Willow Bark Extract. It works by penetrating the pores, and making skin cells less 'sticky' therefore less likely to block pores, this reduces the likelihood of bacteria getting trapped and causing a spot. Evening Primrose and Beet Root Extracts help care for troubled skin, by reducing inflammation, resulting in clear and healthy-looking skin, in a very gentle way. The product has been Dermatologist tested and is Noncomedogenic (won't block the pores) which is something you should look out for when treating spot prone skin.

I have to say this solution did live up to its claims, it was very gentle on my sensitive skin and didnt over dry at all. I did see an over all improvement in my skin, with less spots and redness. I also like using a product with less chemicals than some other brands, as you do find a lot of products for spot prone skin tend to be extremely harsh. I would buy it and other products from this range again.

      A brill product!

In my time I have tried rather a few Burt's Bees products and not really thought that they were that great and came to conclusion that they were largely overpriced beauty products for a nice name! However I was online with rather a large Amazon gift voucher to spend recently with not a lot in mind at the time to buy but some sort of facial wash cleanser and opted to retry the range out as this was called and Anti-Blemish product, an issue that even now that I'm 38 years old still have an issue with much to my utter disgust and embarrassment of spots!

      The Packaging:

Most of the Burt's Bees products are nicely but simply packaged and rather unisex in design and this is really no different to the rest of the range. The bottle is see through plastic and holds 145ml of the product, it has a frosted but still rather see through flip top lid concealing a small hole to the top of it and around the main part of the bottle there is a white and bright yellow label and on the front of that label we are told that it is Burt's Bees 'Natural' Anti-Blemish Solutions 'Purifying Daily Cleanser With Willow Bark' and the size is stated (as I have listed already) and a little information is also given on there in a foreign language as well as a small green leaf sketched on. Other information listed on the back of the bottle includes being told a bit about the product, ingredients are given, we are told that it is not tested on animals and to use it up within 12 months of opening it, there is lots of information listed in foreign languages and contact details for the manufacturer are given. This is nice enough packaging though doesn't give a lot of advice on how to use it and so on and the only reason I know is because we are told in the section 'A bit about the product' that this is meant to wash away impurities if it hadn't of said that or I hadn't of read it I wouldn't have known if this was meant to be wiped on and off my skin or what!

A Bit About The Product According To the Information Listed On The Bottle:

This cleanser is proven to help wash away blemish causing bacteria, excess oil and impurities without over-drying or irritating skin. Salicylic Acid, derived naturally from Willow Bark Extract, penetrates pores to help reduce blemishes and prevent future breakouts. Even Primrose and Beet Root Extracts help care for troubled skin resulting in clear and healthy-looking skin, naturally.

      Using It:

Well all you do with this is dampen or your wet the skin and get a small blob of the thickish golden, transparent liquid and gently rub it over the face nice and gently. This is no good at removing make-up but it doesn't profess to be so and so I use it on relatively clean skin already.

This lathers up rather gently and is a none stinging, gentle formula. The scent of this is really mild and fresh and really can only be described as a subtle and gentle planty sort of aroma that is very unisex indeed and once used and rinsed off (which is easy to do) the scent doesn't linger at all. I was surprised though I really struggle to get any lather going with this.

This really does remove excess grease and doesn't leave my skin parched, dry or shiny or anything else adverse at all. A little of it goes a very long way indeed, its easy to use and none offensive to my nostrils and leaves me gently clean none agitated skin that feels really soft to the touch. Usually when my face has been anywhere near a soapy sort of product my skin is left feeling over toned and tight and me wanting to wet my face to try ease that tight feeling off but with this I really can wash and go.

I paid £9.99 for this product on Amazon including £1.00 for the postage and packaging and it actually worked out a very good buy indeed for me. Not only after using this does my skin look healthy and recharged on my face but since using it I have had no breakouts of any angry red spots and no black or white heads have dared to pitch up an appearance on my face. I haven't had any new spots and the ones I did start with disappeared fast after using this (within a couple of days).

This is a natural product that seems to work in harmony with my skin and I think its rather brilliant and worth the cost and I now have a new found respect for this brand!
