A natural mini-facial kit that works wonders on the face.

      ** Burt's Bees**
Burt (I was naïve to not realise) is actually a real, normal, down to earth guy from America who got lucky with some beeswax. It all started in 1984 (which makes the company very young!) when he sold candles at a local fair and it has seriously grown from there. I love little independent companies that have real stories behind them and all the originality and classic style is so individual. Burt's Bees are now one of the biggest manufacturers of environmentally friendly natural personal care products and they sell everything from lip balm to face masks. Their products are simple yet effective and because of the fun factor they have now have a huge fan base. Now including me! After reading and hearing so much about this company I decided that I needed to give them a try for myself and sample some of their delights. I was extremely happy to find this little gem on Amazon for only £4.49. So I treated myself!

**The Burt's Bees Facial Kit (Miniature Editions)? **
Well it is what it says it is. A mini-treat for the face. As I am new to the Burt's Bees Range I thought it would be best to start small and work my way up. The cute little kit comes in a box with a 32 page book guiding you through the facial process which is very charming and also very useful. It helps you choose the right sort of product for your face and why it is important to have a spring clean of your face once in a while. There is a sachet of Pore-Refining Mask which is a powder that you mix with water to create a face mask. There is also a tub of Citrus Facial Scrub and a tube of Orange Essence Facial Cleanser, plus a little ceramic pot to mix all your ingredients together. The little kit itself contains miniature versions of the products and gives you enough for at least 2 applications which I think is great as I expected it to be a one use only kit. The product itself does not promise anything other then to give your face a good, friendly clean and to give you a little bit of indulgence. Yes Please!

** So what is it like to use? **
Brilliant! It really is so easy and quite fun. Firstly after reading through the cute booklet I pulled my hair up in a ponytail so it wouldn't get in the way and stood in front of my bathroom sink ready for action. The first part of the facial is the Orange Essence Facial Cleanser. I wet my face a little and then squeezed half of the tube into my hand. There was a lot more then I expected and it was thick and gloopy. Almost the same consistency as toothpaste. It is dark orange in colour and also orange in smell and spreads over the face really well. It didn't foam up or go bubbly but smoothed out like gel when mixed with the water. Once I had washed this off I was left with very clean looking skin, it felt slightly dry and at this point I got a little worried that it might dry my face out but I carried on to the next step leaving my worries behind me!
The next step was to exfoliate my face using the Citrus Facial Scrub. This comes in a little tub with a screw lid and inside is a dark brown, quite hard product. It really smelt and looked like Christmas cake. I could have given this to my dad to eat and he probably would have loved it! (But maybe not advisable). I scrapped a little out and added a bit of water and scrubbed away. I really didn't need much and didn't even use half of the small pot. It spread out well and the grains which exfoliate and get rid of the dead skin cells did not disappear so I didn't have to keep using more of the scrub. It did feel slightly rough on my face which I know it is supposed to do but it felt rougher then other exfoliaters I have used but it did the job. Once I had rinsed it off with warm water my skin was extremely clean and soft. I didn't have the red blotches I was expecting and I can only assume this is down to the natural ingredients.
The last step of the facial and my favourite part is the face mask. It is a clay mask that comes in a powder and you mix it with a bit of water in the ceramic pot. It turns into a paste and is a bit hit or miss as to how much you should put in so my advice is to add a very small amount at a time. I didn't think there would be enough to go all over my face but there was plenty. I spread the green paste over my face and went to lie down for 10 minutes to let it dry. It really was relaxing and the mask had a fresh almost menthol smell to it which was calming as I relaxed. Before I fell asleep I went to the mirror and checked on what I looked like. The incredible hulk is making a comeback!! The once wet mask had turned a light shade of green and dried up. I couldn't smile or move my face as the mask had tightened it into one place. It was quite funny when I had to sneeze! Considering the mask was dry it rinsed off really easily and left my skin feeling smooth and soft. Almost as if the mask was still on my face. The whole process is in the book and it goes into a lot more detail why each step is important and the best ways to carry it out but I don't want to ruin the fun for anyone that does buy it or is lucky enough to get it as a gift!
The whole regime was so easy and each product was different in texture and smells so it was fun to use and made me feel like I was doing a professional facial routine.

      **Results**
My skin was soft and extremely clean. I was expecting my face to turn dry and blotchy because of the quite harsh exfoliate but it didn't. Even my mum noticed that my face looked refreshed. I did tone and moisturise afterwards which the book advises you to do which I am sure made a difference to the overall process. But it would have to be something that I keep up in order to keep my skin looking so refreshed.

      **Conclusion**
I have looked at the Burt's Bees website but I can't find this kit on there, I bought it from Amazon which is quite handy as you can earn Amazon vouchers from writing on Dooyoo. I will definitely buy this again and if I don't then it will be the full size versions in my bathroom! It is great as a gift or as a little holiday set.
The whole Burt's Bees range is original, looks great and really is great for the skin. This mini facial kit does not let the brand down is full of character and talent. In my opinion it is well worth the price and you get more then you pay for. My favourite part of this was the little book that joined everything together and is a handy little guide. A mini bit of fun, beauty and pampering!

      Thank you for reading.
