This product, a natural skin exfoliator from burt's bees, is a really great purchase! For around £7 you get an amount which, for me using every other day, lasts up to 6 months. Therefore it works out as a real bargain! You only need to use the tiniest squirt to be able to exfoliate the whole face. I recommend rubbing it in for a good few minutes to get the full benefit of the product. It not only gets rid of any dry patches of skin but also smooths out uneven skin tone and 'refines' the pores, which in my experience had led to less oily patches. Despite this being an exfoliating product it is also suprisingly moisturising. After using you can feel a kind of 'moisture barrier' on your skin. I like the feel of this as it means the skin is not left feeling dried out after the scrub, but also doesn't leave it feeling greasy. I tend to use this scrub in the morning to waken up my skin and it really leaves it glowing.
I recommend this product as it is effective, inexpensive, natural (good for your skin!) and leaves it looking and feeling great.
I got a mini tube of this scrub with a gift set at Christmas. I didn't use it for ages because the tube was so small I wanted to save it for a special enough occasion. Well, the Queen never popped over for tea, so in the end I just used it.
According to the directions you're supposed to wash your face first, so I did, using (if you must know) my Boots witch hazel foaming cleanser (which I have also written a review of). Next you take a small blob of the product and massage it into your damp face, so that the little tiny grains can exfoliate your skin. Doing this was really pleasant- it smells really nice, peachy and fruity and natural. It also feels nice on your skin. I recommend getting your partner to massage your face for you for an even more satisfying at-home facial.
When you have rubbed your face raw (or a little before that point, you need to time it well!), rinse it off with warm water and pat dry. After doing this I noticed my skin felt like it had a kind of layer on the surface, like I hadn't rinsed it off properly. After lots of rubbing though, I came to the conclusion the scrub had simply altered the texture of my skin. My skin is naturally greasy and I think this scrub would be more suitable for people with dry/normal skin. However, my skin did feel refreshed and the lovely smell stayed with me for a good hour at least. I would recommend that if you have oily skin you do not count on this product as part of your daily routine. Sadly, it is too moisturising and not cleansing enough for our skin.
The full size product retails for about £9 which is quite a lot compared to some other similar scrubs on the market. However, there is just something nice about using Burt's Bees products. They're a little treat. And as far as indulgences go, £9 isn't that bad at all.
I love the Burt's Bees range of products, I am sure I have probably tried nearly half of the products on offer and seldom few have been written about, so I thought I would share my experience with a few reviews.
One of the last products I used was the Peach and Willow bark facial exfoliator which I bought because I really liked the smell and fancied a change from my usual exfoliator which is produced by Johnson's. I do have sensitive skin but at the same time I find my skin is quite dry on my face and if I overuse facial creams and lotions it only adds to the problem, so I am quite careful what I use and tend to stick to products which are made from Natural ingredients, which Burt's Bees is.
The Peach and Willowbark facial exfoliator is sold in a flip top tube containing 114g of cream and it sells for around £9 in my local high street chemist, it was however on a buy three for two offer when I bought it, so it might be worth the wait if you really want to try it but don't want to spend an awful lot of money. When the lid is flipped open on this tube the first thing you can smell is the peach, it is very similar to the St Ives Peach face scrub only not a pungent. I am a fan of peachy smelling products so for me this was a lovely treat.
To use this scrub it is a really easy process, you need to wash and clean your face firstly before attempting to apply the scrub because you need to ensure any surface dirt or grime is removed from the top layer of skin. Once it has been removed you apply the scrub either with your fingertips or whatever cloth you might normally use and as it is applied to your skin gently massage it into and onto the skin and as you massage the skin you can actually feel the small particles within the cream which act as the exfoliator, although they are not too harsh on the skin. Once you feel you have done enough scrubbing of the face, you need to use some clean, warm water to remove any excess cream and then dry your face.
The first thing I noticed after using this product for the first time was how smooth my skin was too touch and also how soft my forehead was given that is my problematic area upon my face. My skin didn't feel dry at all and I was really happy with the effects. Even now a few weeks after using my skin is still soft and the dry skin area on my head has not yet come back and I only use this product once a week, so for me this product has been a real life saver.
The exfoliant within this scrub is ground peach stone which is used because it naturally removes excess oil, dirt and dead skin cells which can lead to the dry skin, so for people with oily skin this could also be a good product to use and there is also Willow bark as another main ingredients and that helps to rid your skins pores of further dirt and grime that every day products fail to reach. It has been particularly helpful on clearing up a few blackheads which had appeared around my nose, they had really started to irritate me, but have now been cleared up. Further ingredients include both ginger and sea algae revitalise and replenish essential minerals to the skin which then leaves it feeling soft and smooth to the touch.
Since buying this product I have been delighted with the effects it has had on my skin and this is one product that I will definitely be again and in the meantime I may find myself wandering past the chemist to purchase one or two other products I had my eye on.
With Burt's Bees products you do have to pay quite a lot more for them than you would pay for your usual high street brand and this facial scrub would cost just under £10 but because it was on offer I didn't pay that much for it, so when it comes to wanting these products it is definitely something to think about. I have had my scrub for just over 5 weeks now and I haven't used a third of it yet and it has been used 5 times in total because I use it once a week. So it does last quite well considering it is quite a small tube but it is definitely worth its money in my view.
Finely ground peach stone naturally and gently exfoliates your skin, while willowbark and golden seal help clear pores / This natural facial cleanser also contains ginger and sea algae extracts to revitalise your skin and replenish essential minerals, leaving your face deeply clean and naturally nourished /
