A while ago, I took out a magazine subscription purely in order to get hold of the free gift, which was a Burt's Bees Radiance Kit. This included a number of items including a travel-size Radiance Day Crème, Radiance Night Crème and Radiance Eye Crème. As a full-size 57g jar of each cream costs £19.99, I thought this set was excellent value based on the fact that the magazine subscription only cost me £6.
What marks these creams out as different from other brands is their inclusion of Royal Jelly. This ingredient is made of nectar, pollen, flower parts and bee hormones. It includes 17 amino acids and vitamins A, C, D and K, which along with B vitamins help minimise the appearance of fine lines and renew your skin. The bee pollen helps skin maintain its essential moisture and restore natural radiance. It's worth pointing out that the inclusion of such ingredients makes the range unsuitable for vegans.
The full-size cream comes in a see-through glass jar with lid inside a Burt's Bees branded box containing all the information you need about the cream. My sample size comes in a smaller see-through glass jar.
This day crème is designed to be quick-absorbing and light, but heavy in nutrients for everyday nourishment. It should be used after cleansing each morning. Other ingredients in the crème include sesame and castor seed oils, which help to moisturise without being too heavy. Spearmint extract, orange peel oil and lemon peel oil help to revitalise skin, which ylang ylang oil contributes to the pleasant scent.
Inside the glass jar, the cream is quite light and slightly runny and it has a shimmery appearance as well as a light, pleasant, floral scent that isn't overpowering. It is easy to apply to the skin and sinks in fairly well. Only a fairly small amount is needed at any one time, so my pot lasted around three to four weeks.
I found that this product managed to get rid of any odd dry bits that I sometimes get on my skin. Also, my skin looked healthy and radiant for the duration, even though it was the Christmas period when I eat loads and don't do any exercise! However, the product wasn't very good at controlling the shine on my T-zone and I found my skin seemed quite a bit oilier when using this product. I was able to control this using powder and blotting pads but still, it's something I'd rather not have had to deal with.
Overall, I thought the moisturiser had some good points but I didn't like how it made my skin more shiny. In addition, the price for this moisturiser really put me off: I've used cheaper moisturisers that were much better for my skin.
Overall, a decent, albeit pricey, day cream that might suit those with dry and dull skin better than those with oily or combination skin like me.
Burt's Bees products are sourced and produced from natural ingredients that are kind to the skin and to the environment. Their products are presented in minimal packaging, and they use environmentally friendly materials from sustainable sources, that are fully recyclable. Their products are free from synthetic chemicals, surfactants and colouring, and none of their ingredients or products are tested on animals.
Burt's Bees Radiance Day Crème is a natural product that is formulated with royal jelly, and it is infused with botanical oils, and it is packed with nutrients and vitamins. It contains no chemicals, just natural goodness. Face moisturiser is an indispensable product, as it is important to look after our skin. The crème will nourish, enhance and restore the skins natural radiance. It works in harmony with the skin, and it is kind and gentle, which makes it suitable for all skin types of all ages.
The Radiance Day Crème is packaged in a glass jar that features a metal screw top, which the crème easily accessible, and also it makes it easy to scoop every last drop of the luxurious face crème from the pot, meaning there is no waste. The jar holds 57g of crème, which will last a good amount of time. The rich luxurious crème is rich in consistency and it is smooth and velvety in appearance. The crème is very delicately scented with a hint of orange, which is quite subtle, it can only be detected in close proximity.
The lightweight crème absorbs quickly disappearing into the skin immediately making it easy to apply, leaving skin silky soft, and as it is absorbed quickly it makes it possible to apply other products straight after. Only a small amount of the crème is required, as it is quite rich. It needs to be applied quickly using light strokes, as it absorbs rapidly. The effects are immediate, as it leaves a natural healthy gentle glow, leaving the skin feeling moisturised and hydrated. The crème is rich with nutrients and vitamins to enhance and nourish the skin.
The crème will improve the skins condition giving confidence to not need further products to enhance natural beauty. It is, however, a good base for make-up, as it leaves the skin feeling soft without any sticky residue, so make-up will apply evenly over the top. Personally, I prefer to only use a moisturiser on my face for daytime, as my skin is in healthy condition. In fact, I was asked by a friend if I was wearing a foundation, and she was surprised when I said that I wasn't, as my skin is in good condition due to using natural products and moisturising day and night. I prefer to only wear basic eye make-up, and I like to leave my skin clean to allow it to breathe, and not feel heavy and clogged with make-up. Plus, my morning routine takes little to no time, as the crème takes minimal effort to apply, and it absorbs quickly leaving the skin looking natural, without any greasy residue.
It can be used on all skin types, and it is effective on dry and sensitive skin, without causing irritation. I can confidently apply this to my partner's skin without the worry that it will cause irritation, as he is prone to eczema and the crème is safe to use on his face without causing any reaction whatsoever. It is also effective on dry skin due to the royal jelly which is renowned for its nourishing and moisturising properties. It pampers skin leaving it radiantly glowing.
I think it is important to use a good quality face crème to protect the skin from the elements, and to maintain healthy skin. I prefer not to use chemical based products, and I don't believe in fancy claims. I prefer a good moisturiser that simply moisturises and leaves the skin feeling and looking healthy. The Burt's Bees Radiance Day Crème is packed with natural goodness, caring for the skin and the environment too.
Burt's Bees are one of my favourite brands for skincare products, as they are affordable, even if they seem a little pricey initially, however, they are rich so they tend to last a good amount of time. It is easy to apply, and it leaves my skin looking healthy. This is a luxury crème that lasts, as only a small amount is required. It has to be one of my favourite face creams, as it is light, and it takes minimal effort to smooth over the face, and it absorbs almost immediately, leaving my skin feeling soft and smooth. Another reason why I love this face crème is because it is produced from all natural ingredients, which is always favourable with me.
The Radiance Day Crème gives my face a healthy natural glow, leaving my skin looking radiant. I finish the look with the matching lip shimmer, and some eye-make to complement the look. Not only does this crème leave my skin looking great, it also leaves it feeling wonderful. The Radiance Day Crème works in harmony with the skin restoring natural radiance to give a healthy glow.

** Burt's Bees**
Burt (I was naïve to not realise) is actually a real, normal, down to earth guy from America who got lucky with some beeswax. It all started in 1984 (which makes the company very young!) when he sold candles at a local fair and it has seriously grown from there. I love little independent companies that have real stories behind them and all the originality and classic style is so individual. Burt's Bees are now one of the biggest manufacturers of environmentally friendly natural personal care products and they sell everything from lip balm to face masks. Their products are simple yet effective and because of the fun factor they have now have a huge fan base. Now including me! After reading and hearing so much about this company I decided that I needed to give them a try for myself and sample some of their delights. After having the Burt's Bees experience I can't help but keep their products in my Amazon wish list. I am lucky enough to get spoiled as well as treat myself occasionally. This is one of my treats!
** Burt's Bees Radiance Day Cream **
I always put cream on my face every morning and I prefer creams which offer to make your face glow. In my experience it always makes my face look healthier as well as being a great make-up base so I was hoping this would work the same.
Burt's Bees advertise this as giving yourself a little bit of luxury and giving your face the royal treatment everyday. I quite agree with them!
The radiance cream is supposed to enhance your skins natural glow, this in turn should make you look healthier and give you younger-looking skin. The cream is described as being a 'light-weight natural moisturiser specially formulated with royal jelly'. Perfect for me because anything too heavy on my skin usually brings me out in spots! I have never been 100% sure of what Royal Jelly actually is so I was quite surprised to find out it is to do with the real bees themselves. Burt's Bees describe royal jelly as being '' made by worker bees and fed to the queen in her first days of life to ensure her growth and fertility. It's considered to be one of the world's most nutrient-rich substances, packed with 134 nutrients, including 17 amino acids and vitamins A, C, D and K, as well as multiple B-vitamins.'' This is why the Queen bee lives a longer and more fulfilled lifespan!
As well as the Royal Jelly, the radiance cream also includes bee pollen, wild cherry bark, burdock, and botanical extracts. All these ingredients help to moisturise, calm, soothe and helps to minimise the appearance of fine line. I love the fact that the radiance cream is full of natural ingredients. I always think that it makes the product seem more appealing and likeable, as well as being kinder to the skin. I really hope that the cream lives up to my expectations as it sounds like a little bit of luxury for the face.
I have a small jar which came in a gift set but the full size version is priced at £18.59. For a 55g jar it really is slightly on the expensive side. If it doesn't work then I definitely wouldn't invest in the larger size. I do feel it is slightly expensive compared to a lot of face care products but if it works then I would be willing to pay almost £20!
** So what is it like to use? **
I love the glass jar that the cream comes in; it definitely adds something special to the product. As soon as you unscrew the lid you can see how smooth and soft the cream looks. It is a delicate white substance that isn't thick at all. It glides on to the skin well and at first seems to sink in really quickly. I was slightly disappointed at first as I put the cream on and my face still felt dry. but I think this cream has a secret. Within a minute my skin was really moisturised. I think I over did the cream slightly as my face was a bit greasy and tacky. I now know that the trick is to put on a small amount and massage it into the face and neck. Don't keep applying until you feel moisturised. Just leave it on for a few seconds and it is like the cream and your face comes to life. It definitely thickens up on the skin and do beware of how much you use as it can become quite greasy. It definitely left my skin feeling smooth and soft once it had fully sunk into the skin. It felt refreshing and definitely a morning cream to wake you up.
The fragrance of the cream won't be to everyone's taste and is slightly odd. It almost has a slight orange fragrance to it mixed with a slight green woody smell which I assume is from the botanical extracts. Unfortunately there is no smell of cherry which I was hoping from the wild cherry bark. The scent does linger on your face for quite a while, but it isn't a fragrance I dislike. It is just one which takes a bit of getting used too!
In terms of the radiance side of the cream, it didn't make my face glow as much as I wanted it to, but it did leave a slight sheen on my face making it look a little bit healthier. It had a touch more radiance then a normal face cream, so on this side of things I was slightly disappointed. But only slightly. It still worked great as a base before make-up because of how smooth it made the skin and it made my foundation look very even and silky so this was a bonus. It is a lovely delicate cream that goes on like a dream on the face. It prevented my skin drying out and left it moisturised for most of the day.
Although it didn't make my face radiant, it did leave it looked refreshed and slightly bright and healthy. So still a great result in my book.
I recommend this to anyone who wants a cream that will definitely moisturise and leave skin feeling healthy and refreshed. It tends to almost plump up the skin which gives your face a healthy glow. In my opinion this wouldn't suit people who have more oily skin as the cream turns out to be quite greasy before it sinks in and this wouldn't benefit already oil skin. But a great weapon against dry skin!
You don't need very much of the cream so in my opinion it is worth the money and it works great as a natural, skin softening day cream. It boosts the healthy look but doesn't have much of a glow type radiance which is a shame. But it still has a bit of sheen so not completely hopeless. I would recommend you give it a try, maybe try someone else's before you buy the whole pot for yourself!
Thank you for reading.
I received my Burt's bees radiance day cream in a little travel gift pack, which has mini sizes of 10 products and I have to say this is one of my favourites out of the lot.
It's quite light in it's texture, sinks in fairly quickly and doesn't leave any greasy residue. I have combination skin and find it works perfectly for me, keeping my dry patches moisturised and doesn't make the oily parts of my face even oilier! It contains a shed load of high quality all natural plant extracts and oils to nourish skin. It is suitable for sensitive skin too. I like to use it in the morning before make up, some people might want to use a thicker cream before they go to bed.
The smell is lovely, it reminds me of freshly washed clothes on a summers day, very nice indeed. I have noticed an improvement in my skin quality too after using it for 2 weeks it's a little less red and more even tone all over. I like to mix this with a few drops of jasmine oil as I find they go well together.
This product is a little more expensive then others on the market. But I think its a god investment to look after your skin using natural products, rather then those loaded with chemicals. Your skin will thank you in the long run.
Every now and again I like to treat myself to some Burts Bees products. I was looking for some new day and night crème as my own was coming to the end of the pots, so when I saw a little kit with radiance day crème included I couldn't really say no.
Burts Bees products are all very natural, but there is a hefty price tag that comes with applying these ingredients to your body. The radiance day crème comes in a plain glass bottle with a screw top lid. This 2oz jar will cost you in the region of £18, so not a cheap moisturiser by any means. The bottle will however last you a long time due to the amount you need to use.
The only way you'll know what this product is, is to look at the lid which contain the product information. It's a very subtle product in terms of design and the real exciting stuff doesn't happen until you open the lid.
The Burts Bees radiance range contains royal jelly which is what the product is marketed around. Royal jelly is a very nourishing ingredient, taken only from the finest bees. It contains lots of nutrients and vitamins which of course will do your skin a lot of good. I have never been taken in by many claims before, but I was willing to give this one a go due to the reviews I had previously read.
Upon opening the pot, the smell is very subtle but distinctive at the same time. There is a sweet smell which reminds me slightly of actual sweets, but there is also an undertone of flowers as well. This sounds as though it's going to be quite weird, but actually works well. It's definitely a feminine smell to go with a feminine product though.
The cream itself is a gloopy product, but at the same time fairly loose. I noticed that as soon as you dip your finger into the pot and remove it, a trail of cream is left on your finger, and it looks much like a firm whipped cream but with a paler colour.
With a new cream I am never sure how much I need to apply, or how far the product will go for. I found straight away that a little really does go a long way. Almost as soon as the crème touches your skin it has disappeared again, so you need to be fairly quick in the process of applying to your face. The crème almost glides over your skin disappearing as it goes. I don't think I have ever had a product that absorbs quite so quickly.
My only slight gripe here is that being a day cream, I found it to be slightly heavier on y skin than others I have tried. It's not too much lighter than the night cream from the same range which I would expect to be heavy and work its way in during the night. For a day cream however it should be a bit lighter to be able to apply makeup straight away.
I can still feel the cream on my skin a couple of hours after use, which wouldn't suit anyone who needed a full face every day.
The effects of this cream however are another matter, and if you can let it work its magic then you will find your skin feeling very soft and smooth after a few applications. My skin almost seemed to clear up and not look quite so tired after a while which was nice as I am finding looking in the mirror is getting a chore these days. To be able to take away a small piece of the stress is great.
Looking at the ingredients of the cream I can tell you it includes lots of oils and water. For a full ingredients list you can look on the website.
Overall I am pleased with my cream. I only have the mini pot as it was part of a set but even this will last me a long time, so I only hope I have a spare £40 to buy the day and night crème together when the time comes and mine run out. It's a bit extravagant but there are products out there that cost a lot more, so it depends on your budget and wants.
****Burt's Bees Radiance Day Creme ****
A couple of months back i purchased Burt's bees for my friend as she was raving about how good it was .She ended up giving me one of the lip shimmers because she didn't like it and since then i have been hooked, since then i have bought several products from the range and this is one of them.
**About Burt's bees..**
The products are all natural and the company is big on supporting environmental causes. The packing tends to have this retro look to it which looks nice.
This didn't actually come in that much packaging which i think is a good thing. I don't see the point of putting something in say a fancy box when it is just going to get ripped open and tossed in the bin. The product is in a round, clear glass tub and the lid is grey with burts bees written on it. I like how the name is part of the lid instead of a sticker because i always end up peeling it of then i don't know what is in the tub!!
The first thing i noticed about it is that it is really light when you put it on and a little of it goes a long way. It says on the instructions that it is to be used after cleansing to give you radiant skin(and get rid of fine lines) but to be honest i haven't noticed that much of a difference. I mean my skin is so much softer but the texture doesn't look that different. Saying that i don't have any lines yet so maybe this will help prevent them!!!One thing i really like is the smell, its hard to describe but it smells natural if that makes sense at all? Like there are no chemicals in it at all. Like i have said this product is quite light which is good because it doesn't feel like you have put any on your face.
**Price/where to get**
For the big bottle (cant see a size) it costs 17.95 on the myburtsbees website. I bought a kit which had a 7g size tub in it because i do like several of the products so it worked out as being more worth it for me. (The kit cost me 15.99). I would recommend getting one of those if you are new to burt's bees or like several of the products. I haven't finished the small tub yet so cant say how many uses i have got out of it. This is also available in bigger boots stores or amazon(maybe treat yourself with dooyoo miles?)
