Advantages: Moisturising and brightening

Disadvantages: No affect on pore size

I have recently heard this product raved about by many beauty bloggers, so decided to give it whirl and see if it really does live up to the hype.

Caudalie are a leading french skincare brand, with french skincare generally being considered to be of a high standard, I had good hopes for this product. It is inspire by the 'elixir of youth' used by Queen Isabelle of Hungary, adding to the allure of product as being a luxurious treatment. The product boasts many benefits, such as smoothing the skin, tightening the pores and providing radiance to the complexion of the wearer. The main ingredients are: extracts of grape essential oil of rosemary, orange blossom and rose extracts, benzoin, myrrh essential oils of oraganic balm mint and mint. The mint leads to a very strongly scented product, which on initial application is a little to strong for my liking, however it does fade quickly into a much softer scent which is great.

So does it fulfill all of its beauty claims? Yes and no, the product definitely refreshes the face and over time it begins to provide more radiance to the skin, likely because it has ingredients which promote clearing and rejuvenating of the skin. In terms of tightening pores, I have some large pores around my nose area and I cannot say I have seen any noticeable difference from using this product, which was a shame as it was one of the benefits I was really hoping would happen! The product does promote smoother skin, it is very nourishing and provides some moisturising affects, which helps maintain soft skin.

Overall I would say the product is worth some hype, but perhaps not quite the amount it has been receiving recently. It is a good product, but I cannot say it provided such stunning effects that I would continue to spend around £10 for a 30ml bottle. If used everyday, the product wont last longer then a month and if you are using it as a facial spray in the day it will run out even quicker! So, the beauty elixir gets a 3/5 from me, with a point lost for price and one for not having any effect on my pore size.

This product can be bought from many online retailers, as well as most larger boots stores.

Summary: A lovely product which is just a little to expensive for me!
