Toning is the second step of any good skincare routine after cleansing and before moisturising. Champneys Toner is formulated with cucumber extract, rose water, Vitamin E, glycerine and aloe vera. It should be applied using a cotton pad. Champneys promise refreshed and soft skin which is also hydrated and supple.
This toner is presented in a tall, lilac coloured plastic bottle. The bottle has all the relevant product information printed on it. The toner is dispensed through a pump applicator which is located under the secure lid. The bottle can be recycled and this product has a 24 month shelf life.
~Price and Availability~
Your local Boots is likely to stock this alongside their website www.boots.com. The Champneys website www.champneys.com also offer this tone. Expect to pay around £7.00 for a 200ml sized bottle.
When I changed my skin care regime a few months ago, I stopped using my usual products and moved on to a No7 cleansing balm and moisturiser. Whilst my skin was great for a while, I noticed it didn't seem as bright as it did when I used to use a toner as well. I still had an open bottle of Champneys toner which I had bought at the start of the year so re-introduced this back into my daily routine.
I was actually introduced to Champneys by my Mum and whilst I am not crazy on the bath and body products that they offer, I do like this toner. I have sensitive and dry skin so I have to be careful what I am using to avoid reactions. I feel £7.00 is a fair price to pay for this product as it does last incredibly well. Dispensing the toner can be a little fiddly so I would recommend placing a cotton pad at the dispensing hole and pressing down once or twice to soak it - this avoids leakages! The toner is of course liquid based and the main ingredient is water. It is a little oily hence why it is suitable for those who have normal/dry skin.
The scent of this toner is pleasant and not too strong. It doesn't smell chemical laden or like alcohol. It is a simple, fresh floral scent which is nice enough. I use Asda cotton pads to apply my toner and these work well though a regular cotton ball would suffice. I cleanse my skin either with a face wash or cleansing milk or on lazy days, a cleansing wipe. I apply this toner directly afterwards.
I often associate toners with leaving my skin feeling tight but this toner is very gentle on the skin. Two pumps of liquid is sufficient to coat my skin and leave it looking 'damp'. The toner sweeps across the skin effortlessly and is instantly refreshing. It does tingle a little but it is more of a fresh tingle than a reaction tingle if that makes sense. Applying this in the morning, my skin is refreshed for the day ahead. It feels soft and smooth and looks healthy without being shiny. It is definitely more hydrating than other toners I have used. I do not need to slather on day cream - only a slick is needed and that is mainly to keep my dry skin under control.
In the evening, this toner is excellent to use. Whilst my cleanser removes the majority of make up/daily dirt, I do find it beneficial to use this toner to wipe away the remains. The soothing scent is great for evening use in my opinion as it doesn't linger on my skin. Whilst the Champneys website do not claim that this toner removes make up traces, it does actually do this and clears my pores. My skin feels clean, refreshed and soothed before bedtime and the evidence of pore 'cleaning' is clear to see on my cotton pad!
This Champneys toner is great. It is very gentle and perks up my skin leaving it healthy and bright. It can be accommodated into any skin care routine and is definitely worth a try. I love the way it leaves my skin feeling. I use it around my eye area but not across my eyes. I have witnessed no irritation from this product and it is definitely one of the most gentle toners I have ever used. It is worth the money and I can recommend it.
