      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Comfortable and moisturising day cream.

Clarins was founded by Jacques Courtin-Clarins with the first Clarins institute opening in 1954 in Paris. The company claims that the products are based on plant extracts from all over the world, combined to give the best results. All products are categorised based on the skin type and the needs of each woman and each product line is comprised by a series of 3 to 4 products that can provide complete and effective skin treatment if they are used in combination.

      -- The product

Crème Douceur Jour is a day cream from Clarins, ideal for sensitive skin. Sensitive skins can get irritated easily and show sign of tiredness due to stress and environmental effects like pollution. This cream protects the facial skin and prevents irritations and red spots. It is refreshing and helps the skin to recover and rebalance. It contains 90% pure plants extracts to provide natural treatment and skincare.

The cream is manufactured from pure and natural ingredients like white linen, christophine, hazelnut oil, brown linseed, licorice and noctoferrine. Brown Linseed and Christophine have the ability to calm the skin and soothe the irritations, the Green Algae extract repairs and Vitamin B5 restores the balance offering full treatment to sensitive skin. Finally, echium seed oil moisturises and revitalises the de-hydrated skin.

Clarins Anti-Pollution Complex is a unique formula included in the latest products of the company to provide protection to sensitive skin from the environmental effects and the pollution.

Crème Douceur Jour is allergy tested and non-comedogenic, suitable for skin of all ages.

      -- Packaging and Price

Initially, I got the 5 ml sample and after using it I was really happy with how the cream felt on my skin and I went for the full sized product.

The day cream comes in 50 ml white plastic container which makes it very easy and convenient to carry when travelling comparing to glass jars. The bottle has a pump at the top to control the amount of cream that is dispensed and it is designed to keep the product fresh. The pump is nice and hygienic, however when it is pressed, it delivers more product than necessary. The top lid is orange with a gold line around the top of the container, right below the sealing of the lid.

The series for sensitive skins comprises from the Gentle Day Cream, the Gentle Night Cream and the Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate which is a curing treatment for super sensitive skins.

The Crème Douceur Jour (day cream) can be found at the official Clarins webpage for £34.00, but it is currently on a promotional offer at John Lewis with a cost of £30.60.

      -- How to use

Apply the cream every morning to the face and neck over clean and toned skin. After application, massage with smooth cyclical moves until it is absorbed. The day cream can be combined with the night cream from the same series.

      -- My opinion

I have sensitive to normal skin and I am very careful with my face care products. The Clarins day cream is perfect for application before putting make up on, as it keeps the skin moisturised but not too oily.

This cream is also very good if my skin is slightly dry as it penetrates through my skin quickly after application. The light and soft consistency is very comfortable and pleasant to use, the cream gives moisture without being heavy and the smell is very discreet.

The texture is creamy and it has calming effects on my skin. I am using cleansing foaming gels with water and my skin feels clean but a bit dry and tight after washing. So I need a good moisturizing cream to rehydrate it and prepare it for make-up. This makes the day cream an essential part of my morning routine.

The price is a weakness but you can easily find discounts and I don't mind paying for a high quality product that does what it's supposed to do.

      -- Disadvantages

The day cream doesn't have SPF for UV protection which I think is essential for a day cream, especially during the summer. I will therefore have to change to an SPF combined moisturizer when I need extra sun protection during the day.

      -- Conclusion

It's a good everyday moisturiser and very comfortable to wear. It is enriched with natural plant extracts to enhance the skin care. Not a product that will do wonders but it will leave you satisfied if you have sensitive skin.
