"A fresh foaming gel that removes all traces of make-up" - clarins.co.uk (product description)
This product certainly is very effective at removing make up. I wear a luminating base, a liquid foundation, concealer, blusher and sometimes powder on my face. When using this wash, I found that there was no trace of make up following the wash - I brushed a wet cotton pad across each cheek and forehead following the wash to test the effectiveness, and there was no trace of colour on the pad. I often find using other products that they fail this test, and a second wash is required. Not with this gel.
Also, as claimed in the description the gel is very refreshing. My skin feels awake and fresh after using it and I always feel ready for the day. Used alone the gel does however make my skin have tight feel, but followed with the recommended and suitable toner and moisturiser combination, I feel perfect and ready for the day.
"... and blemish free" clarins.co.uk (product description)
Since using this product I can certainly see a huge difference in the blemishes on my skin, and the overall quality of my facial skin. I used to suffer with small pimples on my chin, and also larger spots across my forehead. I have seen a visible reduction in these blemishes, and they continue to improve with continued use of the gel. I am also using other Clarins products in conjunction with this gel, and so the improvement is obviously not down to just this one product, but I am very happy with the results, and there is no doubt in my mind that the wash is a definite contributing factor to the improvement of my skin.
"It's gentle cleansing base neutralises the effects of hard water" "...protects even the most delicate skin" clarins.co.uk (product description)
Although I obviously do not have a scientific test to prove the hard water claim is true, I certainly feel how gentle this wash is, and I feel the wash is very soft and sympathetic to my sensitive skin. I feel my skin is indeed protected, and have noticed a huge improvement in the softness and suppleness of my skin. I notice a very big negative difference should I not use my wash.
"Skin is cleansed and fresh-looking to ensure a bright, luminous complexion." clarins.co.uk (product description)
In a morning before using the product, my skin tends to look a little dull and tired. Not unhealthy, just like it needs a pick me up. I see once I have used this wash a definite improvement in my skin - a brighter complexion and my skin does indeed seem to have a glow about it. I look more awake, fresher, and as though I have had a much better night's sleep than I may have indeed had!
Overall, I have no reason not to recommend this product to another person and would say without hesitation to try it. It is for women aged around 18 and into their 20's however, and would stand by Clarins and say use products that are designed for your age if you expect the stated results. Different aged skin needs different levels of care, and so if you are aged 30+ I would not use this product, I would use one from the correct range (Multi Actives for 30's; Extra Firming for 40's; and Super Restorative for 50+).

~Price and Availability~
This cleanser can be purchased from Clarins counters in department stores (Debenhams, House of Fraser etc) and online. www.clarins.co.uk offer a 75ml tube priced at £11.00. It is worth waiting for the gift with purchase deals as you may pick up some good bargains!
I am a big fan of Clarins skincare products so when released a range of Daily Energizer products, I decided I had to try them! I like to follow a set skincare routine which includes cleansing, toning and moisturising. I also like to treat my skin to a face mask or facial regularly to keep it looking healthy.
I favour cleansing gels. I used to wipe over my skin with make up wipes but find it more satisfying to give my skin a good cleanse with a gel and this Clarins gel definitely hits the spot. The gel has a favourable consistency. It isn't too thick nor runny and is very easy to apply to my skin. I have been using this gel twice a day alongside the wake up booster and have found the results to be really good and up to Clarins usual high standard.
This is a long lasting cleanser as only the tiniest of blobs is required to fully cleanse my face. I dampen my skin and my hands in the morning and use this to refresh and cleanse my face. It lathers beautifully but not too thickly and feels gentle and soft against my dry, sensitive skin. The scent of this cleanser is pleasant and not overpowering - it has a light, slighty fruity scent with a calm floral undertone.
I follow the guidelines by rinsing with cold water in the mornings and find this does help to enhance the effects of this cleanser. My skin feels and looks clean and refreshed. Whilst this cleanser doesn't dry my skin out further, it doesn't moisturise either but I am satisfied that my skin is clean and healthy. I am impressed by my bright complexion after using this cleanser and the wake up booster.
The really challenge is removing any make up traces in the evening before bed but this cleanser doesn't disappoint. It lathers up as normal and I take a little longer to massage the gel in circular movements to thoroughly cleanse my skin of daily impurities. Any make up traces are removed and my skin is left in a refreshed and clean state.
Whilst expensive, I quite like this cleansing gel. It effectively refreshes and cleanses my skin whilst being mild and gentle and also carries a pleasant scent. It lasts well too despite twice-daily use and I would say this product does suit my dry skin type. Overall a good cleanser and much better than some other cleansers in this price range (including Clinique!).
Thanks for reading :)
I absolutely love this cleaning gel. Affordable at £10.50 for 75ml, compact and Perfect for young ladies aged from around 18 to their late twenties to gently cleanse and purify the skin.Its part of the new daily energisers range which is the first step into luxury skincare for young ladiesIt contains Moringa extract which is well known for its purifying properties. It has a lovely fruity scent and best of all is suitable for all skin types. you only need a small amount, It lathers easily into a gentle foam which cleanses and removes all traces of make up without drying the skin out, but leaves it feeling very fresh and balanced.for best results it should be followed by the booster lotion and moisturiser from the daily energisers range.
I first heard about the Clarins Daily Energisers range in various magazines and the products grabbed my attention as they are aimed at people in their 20's who want to steer clear of both teenage skincare and heavy anti ageing products. I am in my late 20's and I still struggle to find the right products for my skin type which is combination and acne prone so I thought I would stop by the Clarins counter at my local Boots and give it a try. I explained to the assistant that I was interested in the range and she gave me sample sizes of the Cleanser, Toner and Moisturiser to try at home for free! Having tried the products, I have decided to review my favourite of the trio; the Cleansing Gel.
Clarins Daily Energiser Cleansing Gel comes in a 75ml tube bottle which a light orange/peach colour and it claims to remove make-up and pollution for clean, blemish-free, detoxified skin. The cleanser is transparent and is in a runny gel form. It has a fresh, slightly fruity scent which is quite hard to describe but it is a pleasant smell! I have usually steered clear of Clarins in the past because I feel they over-perfume their products but the scent of this Cleanser is not too overbearing luckily.
This is a foaming gel Cleanser and I found it quite easy to later up with a little water, using only a pea size amount of the product. I used it both morning and evening , rinsing off with water in the morning and using a damp muslin cloth at night to help remove make-up. I was pleasantly surprised how gentle this cleanser is- usually gel cleansers leave my face feeling tight and dry but this doesn't at all. Instead it leaves my face feeling soft and smooth yet clean and it does a decent job of removing foundation, blusher etc too! It also leaves my skin looking calm (I am prone to redness after cleansing) and doesn't give me any blemishes either.
Although this cleanser is targeted at 20 something skin, I feel it would be suitable for any age as it is so gentle and easy to use. All-in-all, this is a very good gel cleanser which I would recommend. The only thing I would say is that my skin didn't really look 'energised' afterwards but then again, nothing really makes me look like that anyway!
Clarins Daily Energiser Cleansing Gel retails for £10.50 and is available from Boots, John Lewis, Debenhams plus many other department stores. It is widely available online too. I feel that £10.50 for 75ml is bit costly and I am surprised Clarins don't make any bigger sizes of this cleanser. I would say go and have a look online as you may be able to get it cheaper, especially on eBay. Also, visit your local Clarins counter and see if you can get sample sizes first before splurging any cash.
I purchased this on a trip to the clarins counter where it was recommmed. It's the first step out of 3 from the new clarins daily energiser range specifically made for young skin. There's this cleansing gel, wake up booster toner -£15 and last the nourishing moisturiser -£19. At only £10.50 this is a huge bargain especially for clarins; europes number 1 leading skin care brand. However I must say it I would not recommend buying this for two as it's not enough but bought for one it can last a while. The one I purchased has so far lasted four months and there is about half the bottle left.
It's in a bright orange bottle which really represents the youthfullness product is supposed to create. It looks great on the bathroom shelf along with the other two products. The way the bottle is created makes it really easy to squeeze out the right among you want. You only really need a small amount to apply. You start by rinsing the face and then massaging the gel into the whole face. The gel foams up really well and you can actually feel it cleansing your skin. Afterwards you rinse it off and automatically you can see that your skin is noticeably cleaner and looks really fresh. The gel is also really good and clearing breakouts and since using it I hardly ever get spots.
My favourite thing about this product is it's a cleanser, toner and even a make up remover which actually works. The product smells so good I practically want to eat it. This gel has done wonders to my skin and I recommend to everyone. Overall a wonderful product that delivers a fantastic result.
Not so long ago I started to try out the new range that Clarins have recently brought out - the Daily Energizing range. This is a fairly new range by clarins that is specifically targeted at 18 to late 20's skin targeting radiance and just generally making the most of your young skin. There are a few products in the range which are:
* Cleansing gel - 75 ml at £10.50
* Wake-up booster - 125 ml at £15
* Moisturiser (adapted to 3 skin types) - cream/ cream - gel/ lotion with spf 15 - 30ml at £19.50
These are available from all the usual places - boots, House of Fraser, independent department stores, just anywhere with a Clarins counter, and you could probably find it online for cheaper than the prices I have given. I use all of these products and this particular review is on the lovely cleansing gel.
As with all products in this range, the packaging is mainly orange with some white for the lid, and red font. This is 75ml plastic tube which has a somewhat velvety feel to it, as does the wake up booster in this range. The cap has a white lid at the base of the tube which flips off and on very securely which is brilliant - I hate it when things don't 'click' back properly. There is a small gold rim between the lid and the tube which I think helps to give it that elegant and luxurious look - which I think is especially nice considering the price tag of this product. There is basic information on the front - name of the product with moringa extract, and information regarding usage on the back. This product should be used within 18 months of opening - unlikely for me that it will last anywhere near this long as I love the stuff! The tube is slightly transparent so it is still easy to see how much product you have left before you need to repurchase - I hate where you just have to kind of guess how much is left inside. The hole in the lid is of a good size and this along with how tightly you squeeze the tube gives you good control over how much product you use.
The Clarin's website claims that this is a 'fresh foaming gel that removes all traces of make-up and pollution, leaving your skin clean, detoxified and blemish-free. Its gentle cleansing base neutralizes the effects of hard water. The creamy foam eliminates impurities and make-up and protects even the most delicate skin. Skin is cleansed and fresh-looking to ensure a bright, luminous complexion.' Moringa extract is used within this gel to neutralise pollution, and saponaria extract for its cleansing and foaming actions. Personally I have never heard of moringa or saponaria before but as they contribute to making this a great product I love them!
===Using the cleansing gel===
It is suggested on the tube that you should lather a small amount of the gel onto damp skin, rinsing off with cool water in the morning and warm water in the evening (the warm water is supposed to help the product cleanse off even more make up). When I got this home I couldn't wait to try it! (so I didn't) and got straight on with using this. I usually use Clinique's mild facial soap so was interested to see how this would compare. The first thing I would like to comment on is the consistency. The liquid is clear and is kind of a happy medium between thick and too runny. It is not so runny that you can't use it properly but at the same time isn't so thick that you would think twice about putting it on your face for worrying of clogging pores! I applied this onto my damp skin and was slightly taken aback by how yummy it smelt. It has a very fresh, fruity but subtle fragrance to it which I absolutely love. The product lathers up really well into nice gentle foam that I can't imagine would irritate anybody's skin. After indulgently lathering up my face I thought it was time to rinse it off - easy enough and was excited to see the results. I didn't really expect much from a cleanser other than my skin feeling clean - which it did with this - but I was surprised at how soft my skin felt. It was very supple.
I also use this at night time and was interested to see what effect it would have on my make-up - if I work then I tend to wear fairly heavy make-up - was it really going to have any effect on it at all? As it had done before in the morning, it felt like a real treat using this on my skin. When I got out of the shower though I did notice I had my usual panda eyes, but to be honest I don't think I was really expecting it to entirely get rid of my make-up. When I followed up the rest of my skin care routine - beginning by removing the last traces of make-up - I was surprised to find that while clearly it hadn't had much effect on my eye make-up, it had effectively removed blusher, foundation and powder as none of this could be seen on my cotton pads! Result! I would also like to mention that the amount I used each time was absolutely tiny, perhaps half the size of a pea, and this was more than enough to lather effectively all over my face.
===Value for money===
I think that this is quite expensive at £10.50 for just 75ml if you compare to other brands like Clinique where £14 will get you 200ml of product, however I still think that this is brilliant value for money as a little bit goes such a long way. I have been using this for over 2 months now and would say I'm about halfway through my tube. I think that this is quite impressive considering the size of the tube.
===Would I recommend===
Definitely! Not necessarily just for young skin but for any skin at all. This is just a wonderful cleanser that leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean, fresh and super soft. I will be repurchasing when I run out in a couple of months time!
Thanks for reading.
Clarins Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel is part of a new range from Clarins aimed at the 18 to late 20's age group. It costs £10.50 for a 75ml tube, and is available from Boots, Clarins counters in department stores, and various places online.
Why I Bought It
I'm 26 and my skin seems to have hit an awkward transitional stage. It's still clinging desperately to the teenage style oiliness I've suffered from for many years, but has also become more dry and sensitive so the products I've always used to combat the oiliness are now too harsh to use on a regular basis. I've been finding it really hard to find products that effectively control oil and breakouts without leaving my skin feeling dry, tight or itchy.
A few months ago I was invited to join the Boots.com Product Testing panel, and as this meant receiving products for free in return for leaving a review on the Boots website I gratefully accepted my place on the panel. One of the first products I received was a Clarins Daily Energizers Great Start Kit, which included 30ml sizes of this cleanser, their 'Wake-up Booster' (toner), and Energizer Cream. After trialling all of the products for a few weeks I liked the cleanser enough to buy the full-sized version to use alongside my usual toner and moisturiser.
The cleansing gel comes in an orange squeezy plastic tube with a flip-top lid on which it stands. The opacity of the plastic does mean it can be difficult to see when the tube needs replacing, but the fact that it stands on it's lid means that, assuming you store it this way, the gel is always easily dispensed. The lid fastens tightly and securely, and it feels sturdy and high quality so I wouldn't expect it would be easily broken.
Although the tube is orange it isn't bright or garish and actually looks really expensive and high quality and would look good on display in anyone's bathroom.
Clarins claims that the Daily Energizers range has 'an innovative cocktail of four natural ingredients'. The first is 'energy-boosting Vitamin C that stimulates the skin's natural defences to keep it looking fresh all day'. The second 'is Turmeric or Indian Saffron, a powerful antioxidant that strengthens this action'. The third, 'purifying Alchemilla, an astringent plant extract that regulates sebum production to keep pores and the complexion clear', and finally, 'radiance-boosting Ginkgo Biloba, to improve the skin's uptake of oxygen so it looks brighter and healthier and to strengthen the walls of the skin's super-fine network of blood capillaries'.
They describe the cleanser as 'a fresh foaming gel that removes make-up and pollution for clean, blemish-free, detoxified skin'.
Suitability & Directions
The cleanser has been dermatalogically tested to ensure that it's safe for use on delicate facial skin, and whilst this should mean it's suitable for even sensitive skins I would as usual stress that this does not mean you cannot react to it.
Lather a small amount of Cleansing Gel onto damp skin. Rinse with cool water in the morning and warm water in the evening.
The gel is clear with a medium consistency - runny enough to dispense quickly and easily from the tube, but thick enough that it's easy to control the amount dispensed.
Although I had read on the front of the tube that it contains Moringa Extract I was still surprised by how wonderful the scent is. It's a lovely and light fresh floral scent unlike anything I would have expected to find in a cleanser, and it really does make using the gel feel that bit more pampering.
Massaging a small amount of the gel onto damp skin produces a beautifully soft, thick lather which smoothes easily over my skin. Although the lather is quite creamy it still feels light on my skin so it doesn't feel as though it's going to clog my pores or make my skin really greasy. It rinses off easily leaving my skin feeling clean and refreshed, but also really soft to touch.
I don't generally wear a lot of makeup but this tackles my mascara, blusher and mineral foundation with ease, so I would imagine it would also be pretty effective at removing heavier makeup, though I would always recommend a separate eye makeup remover for waterproof mascara.
I usually avoid products that claim to brighten or give radiance as they have a tendency to leave my combination skin looking shiny and greasy, but this is not the case here. My skin is left with a soft matte finish which lasts for a good few hours after use.
After using the gel morning and night for a few days I did find that my skin started to feel a little tight immediately after use, but the feeling disappears as soon as I've toned and moisturised so it's not really an issue.
Since I've been using this I have noticed that my skin seems to have levelled out to some extent. It's done a great job of keeping my skin looking shine free and my pores looking clear, and I have found that apart from immediately after use, the more dry, sensitive areas of my skin feel much more comfortable.
I've never thought of my skin as dull or lacking radiance, but it definitely takes on a bit of a glow when I've used this. It looks really fresh and healthy and I'm actually really impressed that it achieves this without leaving me looking shiny like every other 'radiance boosting' product I've used. For the first time in my life people have actually been making comments on how good my skin is looking, with 'natural glow' being the most popular description.
I actually really love this Cleanser and although it seems fairly expensive a little really does go a long way meaning it works out at better value for money than cheaper options. I'm very grateful to Clarins and Boots for giving me the opportunity to trial such a great product which I'll happily continue buying.
I have recently been trying out the new skincare range from Clarins which is aimed at people aged from eighteen to late twenties. The facial gel comes in a 75ml tube which retails at £10.50.
The Clarins assistant told me the range is packed with vitamin c which helps to brighten and renew the skin. This is a cleansing gel which lathers as you apply it to a wet face and it is incredibly gentle and soft on the skin. The cleanser is supposed to neutralise the effects of hard water on the skin and also works to remove impurities and make up. Clarins state that skin will be cleansed and fresh looking with a bright and luminous complexion. This is quite a claim, so how does it live up to its promises?
The cleanser is indeed very soft and moisturising on the skin, it is easy to apply and you only need a small amount to cover your face which is great as it means the tube lasts longer! There is a mild foam with this cleanser, nothing too harsh so it doesn't strip your skin of any natural oils. Since using this cleanser I have noticed my skin appears clearer and healthier and also my make up applies more evenly as my skin is softer. The cleanser contains saponaria extract which gives the cleansing and foaming properties and also contains moringa extract which Clarins claim nautralises the effects of polution.
The directions for this product are to use it morning and night, however I only use mine once a day as I use another Clarins waterless cleanser to replace it. I use it whilst in the shower and find that the steam opening up more pores helps the cleanser work more effectively. I sometimes use this to remove my make up and find it does a good job at this, however it is not suitable for use around the eye area so I tend to use something which can be applied to my eyes as well.
The packaging for this product is good as well, it comes in an orange tube which matches the rest of the skincare line. The tube has a flip top lid at the bottom which is great as it means that the product remains at the bottom of the tube by the lid making it easy to get out when you need some.
I really like this cleanser and would throughly recommend this to anyone looking for a new facial cleanser.
