"A radiance boosting gel with a moisturising action to ensure a soft, smooth look while its toning benefits refresh and provides a pleasant feeling of well-being. The complexion is left looking radiant and healthy." clarins.co.uk (product description)
Radiance boosting this little gem is indeed! I have to admit; although I use the rest of the daily energizer range and am exceedingly happy with it I was somewhat sceptical of this product. It seemed to claim too much, even for the wonderful company that is Clarins. However, I am happy and proud to say I was very wrong and I cannot now be without my Wake Up Booster! As soon as the product is applied, my skin looks straight away more radiant and feels so much more hydrated than seconds before. As the seconds pass, I can feel yet more hydration and I get a feeling of being more awake and well rested. The skin becomes very soft to the touch, and when followed with the range's recommended moisturiser, becomes like velvet or silk to the touch. A truly beautiful product which, once again, lives up to the companies claims 100%.
The "pleasant feeling of well-being" did seem odd to me to include in the product description, as in my mind that could not surely be achieved by a facial toner? I was again, wrong. I do indeed feel far better when this product has been applied and I feel ready to take on the day! A wonderful product, with a lovely feel, and a beautiful scent.
I find this product especially lovely to use, and especially effective, when I get up at 5am for work. I worry about the long hours, harsh conditions, and early starts I have with work as obviously this can negatively affect skin, but thanks to Daily energizers, and without a doubt this particular product, I do not worry anymore. My skin is looked after and hydrated!
I do feel an obligation to point out that I use the entire daily energizers range, and would recommend others do the same to see the highest and most effective results.
Overall, I have no reason not to recommend this product to another person and would say without hesitation to try it. It is for women aged around 18 and into their 20's however, and would stand by Clarins and say use products that are designed for your age if you expect the stated results. Different aged skin needs different levels of care, and so if you are aged 30+ I would not use this product, I would use one from the correct range (Multi Actives for 30's; Extra Firming for 40's; and Super Restorative for 50+).
I have just started using the Clarins Daily Energizer range (or have been for the last month). I found the range when browing through the Clarins website and I realised how reasonable in price this range was and it sounded lovely. After some hunting around on the internet I found a website called http://www.salonskincare.co.uk that stocked the range and they also had a free gift if I purchased two Clarins face items. Out of the free gifts I could choose from one of which was miniatures of the Clarins Energizer range in a cosmetics bag which I thought would be perfect for an overnight stay somewhere so of course I had to purchase the range there and then!
On this website the products were slightly cheaper than the retail price as well and if you go via the cashback website called Quidco before purchasing the products it gives you 6% cashback. Every little helps!
From the Clarins counter in stores or online it costs £15.50 for 125ml (there is only one size) which is smaller than the regular 200ml toners or it is £13.95 on the website http://www.salonskincare.co.uk. It can also be bought of numerous other websites and from department stores like Debenhams, House of Fraser and from Boots stores (providing they have a Clarins counter).
Instructions on the Clarins Daily Energizer Wake-Up Booster
Ok so it is called a wake-up booster which instantly suggests that it is used in the mornings to wake yourself up - well it certainly does it. The instructions state to either put it on your hands or on a cotton ball and gently tap it on the face. I loved the idea of this and I am pleased to say the novelty of it has not worn off yet and it does wake me up! It smells so refreshing and gorgeous that it gives me an instant lift. Very little is needed on the hands or on a cotton ball and I would definitely recommend the cotton ball over the hands because I always seem to lose a lot of the product putting it on my hands and it gets a bit messy!
So this product is to be used after cleansing and then to follow it afterwards with a daily moisturizer and of course the other parts of the range are available: the Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel at £11.00 off of the Clarins website and the Daily Energizer moisturizers in different consistencies depending on your skin type and preference which are £20.00 off of the Clarins website. The whole range smells delightful and it really makes me enjoy using the range. Usually cleansing is a chore for me despite the fact that I love buying the products. This used to be because the products I used to use were fragrance free and they were quite boring to use. Whereas Clarins plant extracts make the products smell lovely without being overpowering or smelling fake.
The Daily Energizer Wake- Up Booster contains green coffee to revitalise and wake the skin up, redcurrent to moisturize the skin and white tea extract to protect the skin from environmental damage and pollution. It does this through protecting against free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms in cells which work like dominoes to make further cell's atoms unstable which causes cells to die and this further causes the breakdown of the skin's structure. This sounds scary I know but it happens over a long period of time. But yes the white tea extract works to protect the skin from free radicals.
Like the other products in the range this product smells of a mixture of peach and orange blossom, it is just so intoxicating! I can smell it even when I am applying my makeup which is a good 20 minutes after cleansing, toning and moisturizing my skin.
Now the question you might be asking yourself as I did: can this be used at night time if it is a wake-up booster? Well the instructions state to apply prior to your daily moisturizer which would suggest not. However I do not see any harm in using it at night time as a regular toner and applying it cotton wool but rather than tapping the skin to wake it just gently sweep it. I have used it at night but I more regularly at night time rather than using this product exchange it for the Clinique Clarifying Lotion at night-time. So I still use the Clarins Daily Energizer Cleanser and Moisturizer at night but just with the clarifying lotion in the middle. This is because I have quite oily and problematic (spotty) skin so I find use the clarifying lotion once a day helps to keep the spots at bay. However this range by Clarins is supposed to prevent imperfections too as well as helping to restore that gorgeous healthy glow which this range certainly does!
It comes in a see-through plastic bottle with a screw on white cap. The bottle despite being plastic looks very nice with the orange coloured product coming through. I absolutely love the packaging and I think that the products look lovely stood together in my bathroom.
This is a fab range and it is aimed at somebody in their late teens or twenties. I enjoy using the range and Clarins have been very clever in the way they have produced these products. I do not believe that any other brand does such a nice range for that age group and the fact that it does not concentrate on mattifying the skin completely like many other products for younger skin. Rather it works to revitalise the skin and give skin the youthful glow it should have at that age! Unfortunately my skin never has that youthful glow alone due to constant stress and tiredness so it is nice that this range puts the glow back into my skin!
A new line by clarins, aimed at the younger age group, designed to wake up your skin, boosting its radiance, while the products work from within to remove any early signs of aging. Whats not to love about that idea.
This is the middle step of a 3 step product line from clarins. It is supposed to be used after the cleansing facial wash, but before you use your moisturiser. The product comes in the typical clarins plastic bottle, with a white lid, costing £15 for 125ml at bootsl
The product itself is packed full of ingredients to make your skin look better. It contains vitamin c to boost your natural skin defences, tumeric which is an antioxidant. Alchemilla that regulates sebum production to help keep your pores clear and Ginkgo Biloba to allow the skin to take up more oxygen. Two of these i had never heard of before i bought the products
I apply the liquid onto a cotton wool pad, and then pat it onto my face. It comes out onto the cotton wool pad as a clear yellowy orangey coloured liquid. I find that it doesn't absorb very quickly into my skin however, and first goes tacky and then absorbs. Once absorbed however, my skin does look somewhat brighter.
I do have a few aggreviances with this product. I find that it gets used up very quickly, and that i tend to use a lot, but also that it soaks into cotton wool very quickly and therefore a lot gets wasted. For a product that costs so much money, this can be annoying.
Also i have a patch of red skin, always had it never goes away, but with this product, while the rest on my skin looks better, the patch of red skin always looks redder, and this is not helpful for me, and i usually try and hide that redness.
An okay product, but i probably wouldn't buy it again due to the negatives
I am quite a fan of what I guess you would call premium branded beauty products, with my preference generally leaning towards Clinique. I was recently browsing my local independent department store ( I really think I should go there less, I seem to spend too much money there!) when this new daily energizer range caught my eye. I decided to have a better look! I wandered on over to the clarins counter. This new range clearly had pride of place, as new products always do and a friendly, helpful clarins consultant was ready to help me.
The daily energizer range
This is a fairly new range by clarins that is specifically targeted at 18 to late 20's skin targeting radiance. There are a few products in the range which are:
* Cleansing gel - 75 ml at £10.50
* Wake-up booster - 125 ml at £15
* Moisturiser (adapted to 3 skin types) - cream/ cream - gel/ lotion with spf 15 - 30ml at £19.50
The wake up booster comes in a plastic bottle typical of usual clarins toners, the plastic almost feels velvety - it feels very luxurious. The lid is white, with a rim of gold - which again I think looks quite expensive - which is easily screwed on or off. The hole is a decent size that allows you to have a good amount of control over how much product you wish to use. The bottle is transparent which I love as you can see clearly how much of the lovely orange liquid you have left. The product name and brand is clearly stated on the front of the bottle in a red font, with instructions on the back, along with the information that this should be used within 18 months of opening - personally I can't see it lasting that long with me!
So what exactly is the wake up booster?
The wake up booster (as described by the clarins consultant) is a kind of cross between a serum and a toner. It is to be used after cleansing (with the cleansing gel in the range of course) and then followed by the moisturiser. On the clarins website it is suggested that the wake up booster 'Recharges skin energy and revives a healthy glow. Its moisturizing action ensures a soft, smooth look while its toning benefits refresh and provides a pleasant feeling of well-being. The complexion is radiant and luminous.'
What's in it?
Green coffee extract, redcurrant and white tea extracts are all in this little beauty. When I read that these extracts were in it my immediate thoughts were that it was not going to smell pleasant at all - how wrong I was! It smells absolutely gorgeous. As much as I love my Clinique products, I do sometimes wish they would have some kind of fragrance. The way I would describe the fragrance is fruity, but delicate - definitely not too overpowering in my opinion. These extracts have some wonderful effects on skin:
Green coffee - recharges skin vitality
Redcurrant - moisturizes and softens
White tea - protects against free radicals and prevents environmental damage.
All of these together make for a lovely combination on the skin!
On the back of the bottle, instructions of application can be found - 'apply to clean skin using light tapping movements, with hands or a cotton pad if preferred. Follow with your regular day cream'. I apply this after using the cleansing gel in the range, and have applied in different ways. I have tried to apply it using my fingertips but I find that the liquid is a little too runny to use in this way - although you would waste less product this way. I also found this method left me slightly shiny and I then felt the need to wear foundation to cover the shininess. I prefer to apply with a cotton pad which I feel applies just the right amount of product to my skin without it being oversaturated. This feels nice and cool and refreshing on my skin, and I also feel that it really helps to moisturize my skin - I almost don't feel the need to apply a moisturizer afterwards. I really do feel that it helps to give my skin a nice glow and I do feel slightly energized - although I think this is more because of the product being quite cool more than the actual ingredients.
Value for money
To some I guess that £15 for what is basically a toner with some added serum-like effects is expensive, but I think it is brilliant value. The amount you use, even when using twice a day is minimal and I think that 125ml is a very substantial size. If you prefer you could just use in the morning and then it would last even longer.
Would I recommend?
Definitely! I absolutely love this product. Of the whole of the daily energizer range, this is by far my favourite and is the one I would say makes the most difference to my skin. Although it is targeted towards young skin, I see no reason why it would not be suitable and beneficial to mature skins, although of course this doesn't promise any anti-aging effects.
* Great value for money
* Smells gorgeous
* Does what it claims
* Lasts for a very long time
* Although it is very good value - it is still fairly expensive compared to some other brands (although I think it is totally worth it!)
* Can take a while to absorb into my skin ( I find even the cleansing gel is quite moisturizing on its own)
* Wastes some product if you use cotton balls.
