I recently reviewed the Boots No. 7 eye make up remover with great disdain. I couldn't stand the greasiness of it, regardless of how well it cleaned off my eye make up.
For my birthday, I received some Clarins goodies - Cleansing milk, toner lotion and the eye make up remover lotion. Being a fan of Clarins, I was pretty pleased as I haven't tried this one before.
As usual, the product is blue liquid. The bottle is easily identified as Clarins, with their logo and the description in French and English. The lid is a screw cap and easily moved on and off, so I would keep away from children.
Ingredients include Burdock - an astringent and soya protein, which is said to help strengthen your lashes.
There is no strong smell associated with the product, which is good.
To use, pour a reasonable amount onto a cotton pad and sweep over your eye gently, until your make up is removed. Use separate pads for each eye as this helps to avoid infection.
I tend to use the cleansing milk first, then this, then a toner over my whole face, followed by moisturising.
This product works really well and quickly. The idea being that your make up is removed when the pad has no discolouration to it and I find this happens usually within two pads, although I tend to only have mascara on most days, so it may take an extra couple if you have eye shadow and eye liner to remove as well.
For me the beauty of Clarins products is that they are really gentle, yet effective. This product works wonders, without having to use a huge amount. A bonus considering the price, as it's not something you would want to fork out for weekly.
I tend to use this once a day only - at night, but will cleanse and tone twice daily. I don't feel I need to use this in the morning, given how well it takes off make up at night.
All in all, this is an excellent product, if you can stomach the price, I would definitely recommend you try this out, especially if it is a choice between this and the No. 7 version. Greasy product or non-greasy product. I know what I choose!
I want to wear mascara and eye shadow, but my eyes are very sensitive, however after much trial and error and lots and lots of money wasted on products which made my eyes stream with tears, I have finally found a selection of cosmetics that I can actually use with looking like a reject from the Rocky Horror Show... So far so good. But there is a problem...how do I remove the cosmetics? I have tried just about every product on the market, ones for sensitive eyes, ones for contact lens users (which I am not, but I assumed it would be extra gentle), non-perfumed ones, anti-allergenic ones...you name it, I tried it. The result was always the same...if it removed the cosmetics, it made my eyes sting, they were sore for ages after I had used the product, washing the residue off with water didn't help at all. If the eye make-up remover didn't hurt my eyes...it failed to remove the cosmetics, so I wandered around with black patches under my eyes and discoloured skin on my eye lids, which is fine if you like resembling a panda...but I didn't! Now following a consultation with a Beauty Therapist (a Christmas gift from friends) I had decided that my soon to be 41 years old face, really needed some consistancy in it's treatment and Clarins was the range of products recommended to me (my opinion of some of their other products are elsewhere in dooyoo if you are interested). Clarins Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover Lotion costs a whooping £12.00 for 125ml (that's 4.4fl oz), and there was no way I was going to pay that much money to remove my eye make-up, I rarely pay that much for the cosmetics themselves! However, thinking about it, I have at least 6 eye make-up remover lotions that are useless to me...it cost me well over £12 to buy all of them, and they just sit on my dressing table, gathering dust...so I took a deep breathe and bought the product! Once the packaging was removed, I was dismayed to se
e a bright turqoise colour, but it turned out that the plastic bottle was coloured but the lotion was clear and unperfumed. There was no stinging when I used the product and it was very effective and completely removed both my water-proof mascara and eye shadow very quickly. This lotion is completely non-greasy and just felt like wiping my eyes with water. I needed to use very little lotion to remove my eye make-up so I am hoping that this product will last me for a long time and even if it doesn't, it is so effective and gentle on my eyes, I would recommend this product, even at this high price.
