I got a bottle of this one step facial cleanser in a travel gift set of miniature Clarins products that I treated myself to a while ago and I actually think it is pretty good. I was a bit dubious about the one step bit of it and I'll concede that it isn't perfect, but overall I like it as a product.
The product is one step, which means that it is a toner and cleanser in one and also that you don't have to rinse it off afterwards, which is a great time saver. I find that it is very effective actually and that it is very gentle. You need to shake the bottle well before using it because the lotion inside separates when you leave it.
The bottle top has a very small hole in the top so that you don't end up pouring loads out at once. This has the added bonus of making it last a lot longer. I pour a little onto some cotton wool and then rub it around my face. It is quite frightening to see just how dirty my face is actually! You don't need a lot and it goes a long way. It takes a bit more effort getting mascara and eye liner off, but I have found that it is gentle enough to use around the eye area (even mine, which are super sensitive!).
The cleanser has an orange fragrance to it from the orange extract inside, it is a very subtle smell which is actually very pleasant and helps with the refreshing feel you get after using the product. I have found that my skin has actually felt less clogged and lighter since using this, which is good.
The only thing I don't like about the cleanser is that, whilst you don't need to rinse it off afterwards, it does leave my skin feeling quite dry. Nothing that a little bit of moisturiser won't fix, but it kind of detracts from the one step idea!
The cleanser is available directly from the Clarins website for £19.50 for a 200ml bottle. My bottle is 100ml and it has lasted me a month do far. It is getting very close to empty at the moment, but I still think it represents good value for money. Recommended.
Since recieving Clarin's facials I have become a big fan of the products and have gradually started building up a collection of my favourites. Along with HydraQuench Cream, Clarin's One Step Facial Cleanser with Orange Extract is a product I use every morning and night in order to keep my skin feeling fresh and clear and is said to 'renew radiance'. This cleanser is suitable for all skin types and available for £18.50 from Clarins, Debenhams and Boots (giving you 78 points) for a 200ml bottle.
The product looks good quality as soon as you pick it up, the box is quite simple and white, with the easily recognisable Clarins logo in red and gold, with the text written in French, English, German, Italian and Spanish. Inside the bottle too is fairly simple but sturdy, it's clear so you can easily see how much cleanser you have left. The lid is a strong white plastic with a gold rim, it's screwed on so no need to worry about this leaking, even when carried around in your bag.
You're advised to shake the bottle well before using as when it's sitting the liquid inside does separate, I find it doesn't take much to mix them back together at all. Upon opening the bottle the cleanser smells fresh with a slight hint of citrus from the orange extracts, the liquid itself is orange in colour which probably helps the senses identify the citrus. It's recommended that the One- Step Cleanser is used within 12 months of opening.
To use I pour a little of the cleanser onto a cotton wool pad, and rub all over my face, being careful to keep my eyes properly closed. Initially I do find it feels a little bit oily, but Clarins advise that after this you then take a fresh cotton wool pad and wipe off any excess, which leaves my skin feeling soft and not a bit greasy. The cleanser does remove all traces of make up very well and even if I haven't been wearing any make up it's quite astonishing the state of the cotton wool after using this cleanser it really does remove all impurities. It makes me feel very fresh and is lovely to use on holiday when you're hot as it makes you feel a lot more comfortable. Clarins One- Step Cleanser helps to reduce the effects that pollution has on your skin and restores it's healthy qualities helping to tone and revive the skin's appearance. Since I've been using this on a regular basis I've had quite a lot of comments about my skin and I now often get comments about my healthy glow. I follow this with Clarin's HydraQuench Cream as part of my daily routine and find this suits my skin well.
Although it's a little bit expensive, Clarin's One- Step Cleanser does last very well, I've had my bottle about 3 months and use twice a day and I'm about half way through the bottle. It's a lovely cleanser and perfect for people with not much time on their hands as there's no need to rinse, this along with the sturdy bottle and the freshness it gives also makes this a perfect cleanser to take on holiday. As it's suitable for all skins types I'd definately recommend giving this a try as there's always samples available.
This product is a two tone oil based toner which will remove all traces of makeup including stubborn waterproof mascara. It is not ideal for a cleansing routine but it is effective as cleaning the skin quickly when you don't have alot of time or energy. I would recommend taking it away on holiday as it won't take up alot of room in your makeup bag.
The packaging is durable with a twist off lid. It won't leak. The opening in the bottle is quite large for a liquid product and so the product can come out rather quickly on to cotton wool. You don't need alot of product and it lasts a long time, particularly if you don't use it all the time.
The product does not have a drying effect but it will not moisturise your skin like a proper cleansing routine will.
The product smells of oranges and is pleasant. There is no need to follow it with any toner.
There is a similar product that does not feature the two-tone oil based toner but instead is called one-step water comfort/purify cleanser (this comes in peach or in mint). I would favour the one-step facial cleanser with orange extracts as it is more effective at removing ALL makeup.
I am a big of Clarins produts, so when I received this in a generous sample size I was keen to try it out.
As with all Clarins skincare, it smells great, a real treat when you are using it. You don't need a lot on your cotton wool pad, a few sweeps and you are done, I would say if you were taking off make up to do it twice though, for thourough cleansing.
It is meant to be a one step, cleanse and tone product, but i felt for me, it was left my skin rather oily for daytime, so I have stuck to my normal Cleansing Gel for daytime use and use the One Step at night - great for lazy bones who still want to look after their skin!
All in all, a nice, easy to use cleanser, but perhaps more suited to a drier skin for everyday use, even though it claims for all skin types
I bought this Clarins 'One Step Facial Cleaner' when I was in Duty Free, I needed a new cleanser so I thought I would give this one a go since I have never tried it before. This particular cleaner is meant to cleanse and tone in one easy step, which I thought was good since it would cut some time out of cleansing and toning separately.
The cleanser comes with orange extract and is meant to 'renew radiance'.
The bottle is quite a simple design. It is made of see-through clouded white plastic with a red 'Clarins' logo at the stop of the bottle. It then has the name of the cleanser in French and then underneath that 'One Step Facial Cleanser With Orange Extracts'. The bottle has a white plastic lid which twists off and the cleanser comes of a spout at the top of the bottle.
Since the cleanser comes out of a tiny hole at the top of the bottle then it is easy to control how much comes out of it so you don't use too much.
The cleanser is 'dual action', it has two different layers of actual liquid. The liquid is really runny, the same consistency as water. The bottom layer of liquid is an orange colour and the upper layer is clear. This means you have to make sure to shake the bottle before you use it, else you will just be using the top layer all the time (I kept making that mistake to begin with!)
The cleanser is really easy to use. You shake the bottle so that the two layers mix together and then simply squirt the cleanser on to a cotton wool ball and wipe your face with it. You don't have to wash it off so it is quick and easy to use. I then follow it with my normal moisturiser.
The cleanser is suitable for all skin types, but I found that after I applied this to my skin, my skin just felt like a thick layer of oil.. this does sink in eventually and doesn't feel as oily afterwards, but this takes about 5 minutes (which actually doesn't make cleanser and toning in one step that much quicker than doing them both separately since you have to wait for it to sink in before you apply your moisturiser) I really don't like how it feels. It says it is suitable for all skin types but I think if your skin is particularly oily, I don't think putting something on your skin that makes it feel even oilier is that good.
The cleanser is gentle and didn't irritate my skin, but I just didn't like the oily feeling it gave me right after I used it. It did make my skin feel soft afterwards, but I just couldn't shake that oily feeling off!
The cleanser is to be used up within 12 months of being opened.
Although I bought this in duty free (I can't remember how much I paid for it) it is available from Boots for £16 for a 200ml bottle.
It was good trying something new since I hadn't tried this before, but I won't be buying another one once this runs out. To tell the truth I am just using it to use it all up since I don't want it going to waste. This isn't the cleanser/toner for me at all. I just can't get over the initial oiliness. A pretty disappointing buy really!
Also on ciao under 'ivytoad'
love it, love it, love it and love it again even more.
This facial cleanser is perfect for people who want to look after their skin correctly but have little time on their hands! It is a toner and cleanser in one. It smells good, and works really really well.
It gets rid of pollution in your pours, and for myself, changed the appearance of my skin within the first week of using it once daily. Therefore is great for anyone, especially living in a big city like myself.
You only need to apply a tiny bit on a cotton pad to get great results and it takes literally two minutes no more. I also use it with the Clarins Moisturisor which adds to the affect.
It has an oily feel when it is applied which makes it feel soft on your skin, unlike other cleansers i have used in the past which seem to sting as i have sensitive skin.
Even though it is more expensive than some of the competitors, it is definately worth every penny.
A great cleanser to travel with and to simplify busy lives / This double-phased cleanser removes light make-up, impurities and traces of pollution in one easy step / Leaves skin fresh and comfortable / Ultra-fine oils: thoroughly cleanse the skin / Moringa seed extract: neutralises the effects of pollution and purifies the skin to restore its natural radiance / Orange extract: refreshes, tones, revitalises /
