I've been trying really hard to save money recently, buying much cheaper makeup and skincare products than I usually would, and when my mam saw how well I was doing she bought me a load of Clarins skincare as a gift. I was really excited as Clarins is a brand I've always loved but I haven't tried that many of their products before. One of the items she bought me was the Clarins Pore Minimizing Serum, which costs £23 for a 30ml bottle.
The packaging is lovely and clean looking, just like all Clarins products. I feel it has a high quality look to it despite being quite plain and simple. The bottle is a slightly metallic looking mint green colour and it has a white pull off lid. It's slightly annoying that the bottle is opaque asyou can't tell when you're running out and with it only being a small bottle I have no idea how well the product is lasting. It has a press top dispenser to give a specific amount of the serum so it creates less waste.
The serum's texture is what I would describe as like a very runny lotion. It is pale green in colour and has a thin consistency that unlike other serums I've used is not oily at all. It feels really smooth and glides really easily onto the skin. I find I need to use 2-3 pumps depending on how much of my face I want to cover. If I'm just using it on my t-zone, which is the worst area for large pores, then 2 pumps is plenty, but for the times I want to use it across my whole face I need 3. It has a pretty bland 'natural' scent to it that is the same as a lot of Clarins' products, because they don't use artificial fragrances in their products.
It absorbs fairly quickly into the skin and leaves it feeling really smooth and looking more (though not completely) matte. I don't notice any difference in my pores immediately after applying it, but I would expect it to be more of a long term thing than immediate results (despite Clarins' claim that it works instantly).
I've now been using this for about 5 weeks and I can definitely say I've seen a difference in the size of my pores, particularly those around my nose. My skin looks much clearer and the dilated pores have definitely tightened, whilst the clogged pores look lighter and much less noticeable. It hasn't made any of my pore imperfections magically disappear, but it has improved their appearance dramatically, which is all you can ask really.
Overall I really like this serum, and I think it really works. The only real problem with it is that I have no idea how much I have left so I can't really say how good value it is for the price.
