I need to work really hard to keep my skin looking nice and have tried many products over the years, some expensive, some not. I have found a couple of cheap products that have worked but tend to find that for my skin, I need to pay a little more. The Clarins range has some excellent products and I have never felt let down or disappointed by any of the range so when I ran out of my latest face mask I decided to see what was available from the Clarins range and after a little persuasion from the lady on the counter I parted with £20.50 (at Boots it is currently in an offer for 1000 advantage points -worth £10 - when you buy 2 Clarins products) and went home to see if I would like my latest addition in the ever expanding beauty collection in my drawer!
The Pure and Radiant Mask is perfect for my skin as it is from the Truly Matte collection aimed at oily and combination skin. It contains Tanaka powders and Pink Clay, Alpine Willow Herbs, White Dead Nettle and Linden. The recommendations are that you use twice a week, however because of the price I alternate it every week with a cheaper face mask and find that it leaves my skin feeling extremely soft and cleaner. It works deep within the skin to rid it of dead cells and seems to make my skin feel tighter too. My skin always looks much more radiant after I have used this product and coupled with the softness of my skin, I won't go a week without using it.
To use the mask you simply need to apply it to cleansed dry skin and leave on for around 10 minutes. It washes away with cool or luke warm water and washes off extremely easily. It does dry so gives the usual tightness to the skin until it has been rinsed away. It also dries a soft pinky / grey colour which is a nice little touch. Once you have washed it away and dried the skin you will notice that the skin feels surprisingly moisturised and doesn't feel dry at all. To me this is the difference with (some) cheaper face masks. You don't need to much on each application so it does seem to go a surprisingly long way. An added bonus is that it sits on its lid so you can use the entire product up rather than having to leave bits in the bottle.
Working together, the ingredients all target different things:
* Tanaka Powders works as a natural exfoliator and keeps the skin matte while pink clay gently absorb impurities and excess oil, and removes dead skin cells to brighten your complexion and make it more radiant.
* Alpine Willow Herb and Vitamin B6 regulate oil production and tighten pores, while the Zinc removes excess oil from building on the skin and controls outbreaks on the skin.
* Linden Extract soothes and softens the skin and helps to smooth out wrinkles.
There are also small amounts of coconut oil and palm oil which moisturises and act as a healer for the skin as well as hydrating the skin and delaying the ageing process.
I would point out that this product is definitely aimed at certain types of skin so I would suggest making sure that it is right before you buy it. Similarly I would check that anybody suggesting it doesn't work has the skin type that this product is aimed at - combination to oily skin.
For me, the product works a treat. I have notice more radiant and softer skin and my problem skin always seems better after I have used this (I use several products for this though so it's difficult to be certain which one, or if a combination, are helping this). As it is a premium product I always feel really pampered after I have used it! Recommended (if you have combination / oily skin!).
Oh I do love a good face mask. I love the cooling feeling of clay based masks and always feel like my skin continues to glow for days after such a treatment. I do have to be careful with which masks I use though because I have sensitive skin. I was lucky enough to go for a spa weekend recently as part of a hen do and this was a Clarins spa so all the products were from the range and you could choose to buy the various items used during your treatment for a discount on the day.
I had decided to have a Clarifying Facial treatment which used various clarins products including this mask. The normal retail price for a 50ml bottle is around £20 but I had the opportunity to buy it for £16 on the day and I did so because I was so impressed with the results. I am not the kind of person who will generally spend a fortune on beauty products but I do believe that some items are worth paying a bit more for and this is one of them. From now on, once a month I will have a lovely, luxurious face mask as a bit of a treat.
I reckon, given the amount you need to use that this tube will probably last for around 5 or 6 masks so when you break it down like that each application is really only a couple of pounds.
I have combination skin which tends to be oily on the T-zone but very dry on my cheeks, I also react quite violently to certain overperfumed products. I have to say that after using this mask my face seems so much more balanced out and matte all over, very soft indeed and looking radiant. The claim is that this mask contains Tanaka powders, Alpine willow herbs, pink clay, white nettle and linden. The Tanaka in particular interested me as it is an old Thai ingredient which is often used in their facial products as it is a natural soap made from the bark of a tree.
Whatever it is in this product, the combination seems to work very well for my skin, after rinsing off (and it is blissfully easy to rinse off) my skin does not have that awful tightness which some masks leave, it just feels refreshed and soft. Despite being referred to as pink clay the actual product does not seem pink to me at all and is more of a standard murky green colour.
The clay goes on very easily and a little goes a long way, I tend to use two 50 pence sized amounts for a decent covering. The tube stands on the lid so it is always very easy to get the product out of the container and the lid also unscrews so you can get those final bits out at the end!
A great product which leaves my skin glowing and looking healthy, the recommendation is to use this a few times a week but at the price I use it once a month and find that works for me. Well worth treating yourself.
I first started trying Clarins products when I was offered samples by a friend. This Pure & Radiant Mask with Pink Clay is formulated for oily or combination skin types. As someone who is prone to breakouts this is a great product as it blots and removes the oil on oily sections of your skin. It has a delicate smell and a smooth texture that leaves skin feeling smooth and soft. It contains Alpine, Willow, Herb, Zinc and Vitamin B6 to tighten pores and regulate the skin's oil production and the Pink Clay is said to 'mop up' excess oil.
It is to be applied to clean skin once or twice a week and left on for 5 - 10 minutes. It is non-drying so just wash off with cool water to reveal matte, smooth skin.
For a 50ml tube the RRP is £20 which is quite pricey compared to 99p chemist versions.
I have experimented with clay masks in the past usually the cheap ones in semi chem for £1.50. Having a clay mask on once every few weeks is a rare treat for me so i like to go all out with the bath, candles and a glass of red wine and really spoil myself. I had spoke in the passing to a friend about the cheap clay masks saying i was sure they didn't really do much for my skin at this point she recommended the clarins pure & radiant mask with pink clay and she assured me it would do my skin wonders. A few weeks after this i went into work to find a tube inside my coffee mug, i feel this was a lovely gesture from her and this still makes me smile that she was kind enough to buy me one to try.
I am still using the tube now.
I have not bought a tube yet but have seen the clarins pure & radiant mask with pink clay being sold in our local beauty salon it costs £19 for a tube, can also be bought online from the Clarins website at this price too.
The clarins pure & radiant mask is in a mint coloured tube with the logos and information written in red. One tube holds 50ml. The tube has a screw cap lid , ones removed there is a small hole in witch the formula comes out, i do have to squeeze the tube though.
The formula is a pale pink colour and has no smell. You only need a small amount to cover your whole face but watch out for going to near the eyes (i did get it in my eye and stings badly).
You can leave the mask on for around 10 minutes before washing it off. I was told you should always wash face masks off with cold water to get your pores to close over however i use luke warm water to rinse off and then pat dry. I always feel a million dollars after using the mask, very refreshed, clean, with healthy face skin that glows!
Clarins pure & radiant mask with pink clay is great for my type of skin so if like me you have terribly oily skin then try this. I also have very dry skin around my cheeks so it has also helped with that too.
Clarins pure & radiant mask with pink clay helps reduce and tighten pores, gets rid of dead skin cells and deep cleans the dirt and grim.
The ingredients list is also very kind , good to the planet and animals, no clarins products are tested on animals and they use as much herbs and plants as possible in there products and less chemicals always a bonus.
We have zinc, vitamin b6, alpine willow, pink clay, tanaka powder, coconut oil, to name a few.
I love the way my skin feels after using the clarins pure & radiant mask, my skin looks matte and feels baby soft. You can use the mask as an everyday products as its so mild however for me i am still using it as a treat because i use other products as part of my daily routine. The good thing is my rare treats are every friday night now so i use the mask more often now.
If i run out of the clarins pure & radiant mask i will definitely be buying another tube.
I think its great a tad expensive but gives the results so i highly recommend the clarins pure & radiant mask with pink clay.
Clarins is a company that prides itself produce simple and pure products. The company was created in 1954 with the aim of producing beauty products that were unique and beneficial for use on the face and body using only plant extracts. Clarins is now successfully selling its creations world wide.
Pure and Radiant Mask by Clarins is part of the Truly Matte collection which has been specifically designed for oily and combination skins. This mask promises to purify and refine the skin, leaving it looking matte and feeling soft to the touch. The product works deep down into the skin, meaning that you will feel fresh and clean all day. The Pure and Radiant Mask also helps to remove dirt and dead skin cells while tightening the pores.
How does it work? It contains Tanaka Powder and Pink Clay to absorb the oils, dead skin cells and impurities that may be resting on your skin. Tanaka Powder is made from tree bark and is a gentle natural exfoliator which can be used to soften and protect the skin. It has purifying properties to keep the skin matte.
The Pink Clay cleanses and detoxifies the skin. It removes those horrible dead skin cells that make your complexion dull and give a brighter and more radiant appearance to the skin.
In order to stop the over production of oils on the surface of the face and tighten the pores, the mask contains Alpine Willow Herb, Zinc and Vitamin B6. The Zinc enables the skin to regulate the activity of its oil glands and as it is an astringent, it also helps to remove excess oil that is already on the skin. It is a great substance for improving the appearance of acne and helps to stop more spots from developing. In fact, sometimes a Zinc deficiency can be the cause of the acne in the first place.
The Alpine Willow herb helps to reduce the oiliness of the skin by carefully regulating the amount of Sebum produced by the skin and reduces the size of the pores. It also acts as a calming anti inflammatory to soothe the skin. The Vitamin B6 is present in order to condition the skin.
Linden is also included in the mask which is a type of flowers and it provides a soothing and calming quality for the skin. It also helps to release tension in the face and smooth out wrinkles.
And finally, in order to comfort the skin, Palm and Coconut oils are drizzled into the formula. The Palm Oil provides moisturise and contains Vitamin E which nourishes the skin and relieves it of any free radicals that may be lurking around there. It has healing and restorative properties which help to repair the skin.
The Coconut Oil helps to hydrate thirsty skin and delays premature aging. This oil also helps to heal and repair the skin, and reduces fine lines.
How do you use the product?
This product is suitable to be used once or twice a week. You may be temped to use it more often when you see the results but over using this product can have a negative effect as it can strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture, making it produce more oil to subsidise its lose.
It is to be used after cleansing and on dry skin. A generous amount of this product needs to be applied to the skin, avoiding the eye area and left to work its magic for around ten to fifteen minutes. When the time is up, it then needs to be rinsed away thoroughly with lukewarm water.
The product doesn't come cheap and will set you back around £20 for 50ml. It comes in a minty green tubing which can stand on its lid. Also available in the Truly Matte collection is the Hydra-Matte Lotion Combination Skin, Ultra-Matte Rebalancing Lotion for Oily skin, Pore Minimising Serum and the Blemish Control Pure and Radiant Mask. All of these items are available from large department stores and also from many online websites.
All in all, this product does moisturise my skin without clogging my pores. My skin is still oily but nowhere near as bad as before. It doesn't sting or feel uncomfortable on my sensitive skin and although I wouldn't say my pores are reduced in size, I certainly get less blackhead and spots.
It leaves my skin very soft and looking brighter but I'm not sure I get the WOW factor needed to make this price tag worth while.

~Where to buy and Price of Product~
You can buy this product from Clarins website http://uk.clarins.com and this product retails at £18.00 for 50ml. Please note this product is mostly out of stock on the Clarins website.
Prices vary in other websites.
This product comes in a 50ml tube, which is mint green in colour. It has the famous white lid with gold around the opening of the lid. It says how you use it at the back of the tube.
I have used this product a few times and love it. The colour of the product looks light pink, kind of like a yoghurt colour. The texture feels very luxurious and it is beautiful to use as it just glides on the skin with little effort. You need a tiny amount, which you apply all over the face avoiding the eye contour area. You leave on for 5-10 minutes and rinse off with cool water. I find using a facial sponge to take off any type of mask very good. Just rub lightly in circular motions is best.
Afterwards apply a toning lotion and your favourite moisturiser.
My skin looked glowing, radiant, soft and matte. What more could I ask for in a mask? I also felt like my had a good deep down clean.
This is a mask that wont irritate any skin types even sensitive skins as it feels so gentle on the skin yet good at doing its job.
I have tried other masks in the past, that once you apply them they go very tight even once you remove them my skins still feels so tight until I apply a toner and moisturiser. This product didn't do that at all, you can definitely tell it is a higher end mask.
This is a product I am going to continue to purchase.
~Would I buy again?~
It goes on well and smoothly and looks a lovely shade of pink, anddries quite quickly...it didn't make my steamed skin tingle or sting as many face masks do on open pores. It wiped off easily. I used about a 50p size amount so it would give you plenty of use out of one tube.
In terms of negatives i would say that perhaps the product is a bit thin. It needs a good shake before you use it as it can look like white clay with pink oil if you don't. I wasn't overly impressed with the final result as my skin did not look any more radiant. My skin felt a bit taut afterwards instead of plump so i think it might be quite drying.
I think it is probably worth a try because it was fairly well priced for the number of uses - perhaps sustained use would render better results.
Good evening, and welcome to my review of the only facial mask I can truly say it is a pleasure to use. It is made by my current favourite skincare company, Clarins, and costs just over £17 for 50mls. That 50ml tube, I might add, will last you forever and a daysince you only need to use a pea sized amount (or just slightly more) once a week. I don't even use it that often as I have facials at least once a fortnight that take care of the mask part of my regime for me, so I only need to buy this every few months.
It is formulated for oily and combination skin.
The mask promises to give a fresh, radiant complexion for combination and oily skin and boy does it deliver on its promise! I have truly never seen such amazing results from a home skincare product. You only need the tiniest amount spread very thinly over cleansed skin. It feels more like a moisturising cream than a mask and even if you leave it longer than the recommended 5-10 minutes it never feels dry or tight the way every other mask I have ever tried has ended up. It feels soft, smooth and soothing from the moment you apply it to the moment you rinse it off.
And speaking of rinsing it off, that is another thing I love about it - it is also the only mask I have ever used that does not need ten minutes of rinsing to remove every last scrap; it rinses quickly with no fuss.
In my experience, Clarins' claims that it is non-drying, easy-rinse are completely justified. I just love this brand as from experience I know you can trust their products to do what they claim - it is really incredible.
The mask helps to purify skin to give a perfectly matt appearance and it is even suitable for sensitive skin. It is also dermatologically tested - is there any box this product does not tick? If there is, I certainly can't find it!
It is a white and creamy and it spreads really well over skin. It comes in a tube which reminds me of a foundation tube and it is easy to dispense - just unscrew the cap on the base and squeeze out onto a clean finger.
After rinsing, please remember to cleanse skin again - it draws out impurities so if you just slap moisturiser on after rinsing you're creating a real breeding ground for spots. I use the Water Purify cleanser after this rather than using the foaming one again, just for a change really. Follow with toner and moisturiser.
The active ingredients are:
-Tanaka powder and Pink Clay to gently absorb impurities and excess oil and remove dead skin cells;
-Alpine Willow Herb, Zinc and Vitamin B6 to regulate oil production and tighten pores;
-Linden to soothe and soften;
-Palm and Coconut oils for comfort.
It just works exactly as it claims to and leaves my skin soft and smooth, and not shiny at all. My skin is so different in the short period of time since I discovered Clarins.
