“ Brand: Clarins / Type: Cleansing Gel / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Cleanses, Purifies, „
The Clarins purifying cleansing gel was recommended to me by one of the sales assistants who worked on the Clarins counter. I complained of oily skin and this cleanser is designed for this problem.
The cleansing gel is a foaming cleanser so it gives a real clean feeling when you use it. For 125ml bottle I think I paid around £17.00. I have never bought this cleanser again after my initial purchase, as I swapped to Clarins foaming cleanser. It is not that I didn't like the product, because I did. I think I just needed a product that was aimed more at combination skin. This seemed to dry my skin out in places, giving my skin a dull appearance.
The cleanser comes in a squeezable bottle with a lid on it. The actual product itself has a very pleasant aroma to it, it smells clean and fresh with out any distinctive scent to it. To use the product, you need to dampen your face and then rub a small amount between your fingers and then on to your face. The liquid gel foams up quite substantially and you really don't need much to be able to give your face a good wash. The liquid gel targets excess sebum, it lifts it away and washes it off. It is excess sebum that can cause spots. It also removes make up and dead skin particles, giving your skin a deep clean.
The bottle I bought was 125ml. Quite a small tube on first thoughts, however it does seem to last quite a long time. You really only need a pea sized amount to get enough foam suds to wash the whole face and neck.
* My experiences*
On the first few uses, I found this is be really successful. My skin was noticeably less greasy and my face was prepared for moisturiser and then make up. It buffed my skin up and I had a polished glow. After a week or so of using the product, I ended up having to stop using it as my skin started becoming too dry! Although I suffer from oily skin, I can also end up with dry skin on my forehead and after continued use of this cleanser. I started getting flaky dry skin. It is not really too much of a negative though, the gel is successful in it's cleansing power, it just did not compliment my kind of skin.
I have never had to complain about a Clarins produces I usually find them really succesful. I think that others may find this cleanser wonderful, however it was not for me. What I do like about the Clarins products though is that they are perfect for people with sensitive skin. My skin is terribly sensitive and if a product doesn't agree with my skin, I end up with rashes and a puffy face! This Clarins wash is no different to the others and has a very gentle formula.
I would not buy this cleanser again, however it does not stop my from recommending it. If you suffer from oily skin, then this is a winner for you! Unfortunately it did nothing for me.
