Advantages: Makes your face feel cleaner after use
Disadvantages: dries your face out - smells horrible - doesnt deliver what it promises
So as mentioned on my previous reviews I do not have the best skin for a 25 year old - I like to use the big branded stuff but I like to look out for certain products when on offer and I barely ever pay out full RRP unless I know the product is decent.
Clean & Clear is one of those top named brands which has been out forever and since my teenage years I have invested in products from their range - mainly face scrubs - which have worked mainly in my favour with fantastic results.
Unfortunately for me, I do carry around a lot of horrible looking blackheads especially around my nose area - and anyone who has these will agree with me when I say they can be really hard to shift them. I am still trying to find a miracle product which will do exactly this. In this sense I have tried LOADS of scrubs, pore strips and cleansers over the years.
I came across this blackhead cleanser in Tesco's for around £1 on offer - I had never tried this particular product before and at that price it was definetely worth giving it a go since I trusted the brand!

Clean & Clear is part of Johnson & Johnson company which is a big name in the world of skin care products. The bottle isn't particually outstanding and catching to the eye in my opinion and the shape is rectangular with a slight curve to the top near the lid. The lid is a darker blue colour, in comparrison to the bottle which is a transparant blue and is quite firm and can be easily popped open using your thumb.
The front label tells you that the product is oil free and guarentees you results from just day 1 from when you start using it... which sounds promising enough. It then confirms under this passage it helps clear and prevent blackheads.
The back label gives you information on the way the liquid works on your skin - that it removes dirt, oil and dead cells which are trapped in the pores which go on to cause blackheads and to help it contains blackhead fighting ingredients to get the job done and works in the same way to stop them coming back. The packaging also claims that this is gentle enough to use on your skin every day and that your face will start feeling cleaner from day 1.
To use this you simply pour some of the liquid on to some cotton pad and wipe all over your neck and face - and there is no need to rinse.
The liquid inside the bottle is very thin - the same consistancy as water - and due to the bottle colour looks like a light blue in colour, however when it leaves the bottle on to the cotton pad it turns clear. One issue I have about this product is due to the liquid being so thin and the opening to the bottle under the lid being a bit on the wide side is that it can cause a mess when the liquid leaves the bottle. An area of improvement I would say to the manufacturers is to have a smaller nozzle on the bottles. Another thing I hate about the product is the smell - it smells like nail varnish remover which is something I have never really liked the smell of.
The bottle size I am reviewing today is 200 ml and the product has a total shelf life of up to 12 months.

My Verdict
I have been using this product around once a day on average in the morning for the last 2 months and have a little more than 3/4 of the bottle left so it definetely has the ability to last a long time. I tend to use this cleanser after using a face scrub to give the maximum effect for the product to work and I do like how much cleaner my skin feels after use. Sadly around an hour after use it seems to make my skin feel very tight and dry - and not in a good way...
To be honest I don't have anything really positive to say about this product, I am throughly dissapointed due to the fact I believed this to be a cure for blackheads which is what I am looking for... Sadly it seems to be a preventative if you don't have blackheads yet. I have barely noticed a difference to using this along side a beaded face scrub...

This blackhead cleanser is currently priced at £3.50 in Tesco which in my opinion is way too much for what it does. If you already have blackheads look for something else, if you want something to prevent them I would recommend buying this when on offer.
Summary: Preventative rather than a cure...
