Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Daily Scrub

Advantages: None

Disadvantages: No improvement in blackheads, painful

Despite my daily skincare routine, I'm still prone to getting blackheads on my nose and chin which are really ugly & unattractive!

I usually use blackhead strips & a special blackhead removing tool to get rid of them, but decided to try this blackhead clearing scrub when I saw it on offer in Superdrug. To be honest I wish I hadn't bothered - it's rubbish! It retails at around £4.00 per 145ml bottle but I got mine for £2.50ish which seemed like a bargain at the time but seeing as it's useless because it's too painful to use it was a total waste of money.

The scrub comes in a squeezy tube type bottle which stands on its lid. The colour scheme is unisex, so this will appeal to men as well as women - it's blue and white and there's the brand and product name etc written on the front as well as the claim that you will 'see fewer blackheads from day one.' The back of the bottle has information on it such as how to use the product/what it does as well as a lengthy list of very chemical sounding ingredients.

The scrub itself is a white, reasonably thick lotion with lots of small, blue beads in it which exfoliate the skin. The first disadvantage is the weird consistency, which rather than smoothly going onto the skin tends to blob up and go sticky. I only used this on the areas that I get blackheads (nose and chin) and needed quite a big blob to get good coverage despite how small those areas are. I applied it when my skin was damp and rubbed it in cicular motions over my skin.

The exfoliating beads are quite harsh which I didn't mind. What did bother me though was the strong stinging/burning sensation which was so painful that I was actually concerned that it had badly damaged my skin. Luckily it hadn't - it was just a little red but due to the discomfort that it caused I will not be using it again. I saw no reduction of blackheads, either and give this one out of five stars.
