I use a lot of lotions one of the reason that I have not yet settled down with one product is because there are so many on the market. I have been meaning to purchase Clean and Clear Oil face lotion for a long time. If the name sounds half as good as the product I could be on to a winner. It comes in a squeezable plastic bottle which can be a pain as I have had problems controlling the amount of liquid that comes out, although I am starting to get the hang of it. Application is very easy, you can either dab some onto a cotton wool or on to your hand and then gently massage on to your face. I was quite surprised at the colour of the product. It?s a orange/pink colour not a colour I would imagine but it does the job so I am not complaining. The results are really pleasing. The lotion is fast absorbent onto your skin and doesn?t leave it sticky, clammy or greasy. But, also it does pick up dirt. If you do use cotton wool then you can see just how much dirt it does pick up. I actually think this will be a good substitute for teenager from Clearasil to this product, because it does clean and clear. You will also notice that if you wash your face with soap and then clean your face with this lotion that dirt can still be picked up even though it may only be a tiny amount. You can also use this product after removing make-up it will ensure that no make-up is left on your face. It comes in a transparent bottle so you can see the lotion and comes in a medium sized bottle costing £3.20. The only problem I have with this product is that it does run out ever so fast. I used it twice a day-morning and night and found the bottle finished in less than two weeks. However, I still did go out and buy another bottle because the results were good and having got used to this product leaving my face really nice and clean and clear I felt the necessity to purchase it again. You can purchase this product from most chemists and super
markets. Definitely recommended it does exactly what the name suggests cleans and clear which is a change since many products are a let down but not this one.
I have been using this product for over 10 years (my goodness, that makes me sound old) and in that time the powers that be have done two sneaky things: 1. They have changed the top of the bottle to a squeezy squirty thing (and, yes, that is the technical term), so that when you use it a large amount of the liquid deluges your cotton wool, ensuring you get through the product as quickly as possible and buy another one. 2. They have put the price up. Okay, fair enough, 10 years of inflation is bound to affect even cleansing lotion but it still seems that over £3.00 for a bottle of pink liquid is still rather high. However, I still buy it, so there must be something good about it. THE PRODUCT The cleanser comes in a clear plastic bottle with a purple plastic flip top lid. For those who do not wish to use a quarter of the liquid at a time (see above comment), you are still able to unscrew the lid and safely upend the bottle on to a wad of cotton wool. The lotion itself is a vivid orangey pink colour. This is presumably why they have made the bottle see-through. However, you would have thought that the idea of rubbing a liquid into your face that looks like aliens’ blood would be enough to put anyone off. If only they had made the bottle opaque they could have saved a fortune on colouring. For those of you who have an apricot bedroom, it will tone well with your walls (you’ll have to paint over that purple lid though!). The lotion should be used twice a day (morning and night seems a good time!). According to the packaging there is a ‘tingling sensation’; this can be translated to mean that it stings like hell! However, after 10 years of use you get used to it and after all: no pain, no gain! It is also a fitting punishment if your hubbie is annoying you; ‘Let me just clean your face’ I mutter, advancing towards him brandishing a cotton wool ball. Credit where cr
edit is due: the lotion is very effective. The dirt test confirms this; once you have cleaned your face, look down at the cotton wool and you can literally see the dirt that has come off. This can form the basis of fun competitions with the rest of your family. WARNINGS FOR THE INTELLECTUALLY CHALLENGED A brief translation of the product warnings: ‘For external use only’ = Do not drink. It may be cheaper than Harvey’s Bristol Cream (just) but it is only slightly worse in flavour, although probably better for your innards. ‘Avoid contact with eyes’ = Do not pour straight into your eyes, or the eyes of your children (unless they have been particularly naughty). ‘If contact occurs, immediately flush with water’ = Although the reddening of your eyes may be a cheap alternative to contact lenses for that fancy dress party, it is not to be recommended. ‘Keep out of the reach of children’ = Unless they are Damian or Michael Myers. CLEAN SKIN = CLEAN CONSCIENCE Well, maybe Johnson and Johnson (the manufacturers) can’t quite claim that but it does certainly do its job and do it well.
Johnsons Clean and Clear cleanser for normal skin looks a bit as though it wouldn't do your skin much good in my opinion because the liquid is bright orange which dosn't give out the idea of being gentle to the skin. Actually its not too bad although it isn't really that gentle. If you have sensitive skin then make sure you buy the sensitive skin one which is blue in colour. Its good to use when you come in late and can't be bothered to wash your face properly - you can just wipe it over a bit with the clean and clear on some cotton wool and feel like you have at least washed your face a bit. If your lazy like me and can't be bothered to take your make up off properly then it'll do that as well - although make sure you don't get it anywhere near your eyes!! It leaves your skin feeling clean once you have used it and for me its reassuring when I come back from central london with the effects of pollution on my face to see the dirt coming off when you use clean and clear, rather than just washing your face with soap and water and hoping that it has worked.
There are two cleansing lotions that are simular, one is orange in colour, this is the normal skin one, and the other blue in colour, for sensitive skin. I have been using the one for sensitive skin and I could not believe how much normal cleansers missed in comparison to this. I cleansed, toned and moistureised my face and then went over with the clean and clear, and I was still getting dirt off! It was not very much, but there was still some there. My skin afterwards was tingley, fresh, and felt lovely. I have also noticed that I am not getting anywhere near the amount of spots that I used to get! This product does everything it says on the bottle, my skin is clean, noticeably clear of spots, I think this is due to it being anti-bacterial, and feels refreshed. The only drawback is you have to use somthing elce on your eyes, and I would not get it into any open sores, as it stings like you wouldent know!!! Best cleansing lotion I've ever used!
