I was highly annoyed when Johnson and Johnson stopped making their deep cleaning lotion which was highly effective at tightening my pores. Having searched around for it for a while, I spoke to a lovely lady at boots who directed me to this little bottle.
The bottle is a see through bottle with the Clean and clear label on the front. The label is simple and the back states that it is good for cleansing and tightening the pores. Something I look for in products I use. The label also states for best effects, use twice a day. The liquid in the bottle is bright blue and it is easy to see the amount remaining. A bottle of this size can last me up to 4 months with constant use (twice a day). In contrast, my toner from the body shop with same usage and it is the same size lasts me at most 3 months.
To start, you need a cotton wool pad or ball and to squeeze a little bit onto it and then you wipe your face. I find it very good at removing all the dirt on my face and it is reassuring to see the cotton wool dirty after you have finished using it. The product tingles as you use it, reassuring you that it is working and cleansing your skin. I've found this product very good for getting out the last remnants of foundation out of your skin. The only downside about this product is that I find it a little bit dry for my liking, but nothing a bit of facial cream would not sort out.
A 200ml bottle of this, I brought in sainsburys for £3.49. The only other downside about this product is the bottle it's self. I am someone who travels alot and always have to make sure I've taped the lid down due to the fact that somehow whilst travelling the lid becomes undone and the cleanser is all over my bag. Just a warning in case you are looking to take this out with you.
Johnson & Johnson - 'Deep Cleansing Lotion for Sensitive Skin'
I was pretty annoyed when Boots stopped their range of facial cleansing lotion, well, actually they didn't stop producing it, they just changed the formula. Ironically, they changed the formula so that it would suit better for sensitive skins but when I tried the new formula it was very drying and it turns out to contain alcohol whereas it hadn't before. But anyway had to go shopping for another one and finally found this by Johnson & Johnson cleansing lotion for sensitive skins.
*What does it do?*
It claims to have an oil fighting formula to clean effectively and help to prevent spots and on the back of the bottle it actually says cleanses your skin gently but effectively to remove everyday buildup of oil dirt and grease. It is totally effective as a single step cleanser to clean thoroughly and help prevent spots and can also be used to refresh, tone and prevent spots after washing. I think I was drawn to this because it was a similar colour to the Boots one that I was using - a light bluey to watery solution.
*Does it work?*
Upon application, it feels very refreshing and it does actually feel as if it's doing its job but what I found is after a couple of minutes the skin on my face goes slightly red so I think I'm actually quite sensitive to this. I'm really not sure why it's saying suitable sensitive skin because it's made my skin react, and my skin isn't meant to be that sensitive and I was finding it quite drying so I tend to usually need a moisturiser after using this.
Besides having this slight redness and reaction to this, my skin looks cleaner and clear - I seem to be getting less blackheads from using it as well. Looking at the formula on the bottle, it does actually contain alcohol. It is also listed as the second ingredient, so it contains a fair amount of alcohol which I am not too happy about - especially when it claims to be designed for sensitive skin. It also contains salicylic acid and eucalyptus leaf oil and which is probably what I've been feeling of this fresh refreshing feeling.
It smells quite clinical reminds of going to the dentist but the scent is quite mild and pleasant. I think they tried to re-design the packaging recently but I much prefer the previous design as it seemed more sophisticated rather than the basic design it has now which resembles a supermarket own brand. But what really matters is the solution itself in the bottle.
* The packaging*
The solution comes in a 200ml flip clear bottle - by the way, many of the times I have found it quite difficult flip open the cap, could someone check this please?
Another thing, I noticed from the bottle is that it says is made in Italy, has a French address and has English on the label - followed by a some other language which that looks like Arabic or something similar and amongst the literature it states SPF 15 but nowhere in the English is there any reference to this SPF 15...?
On the whole this is still an effective cleansing lotion although I still have my reservations about it being used in sensitive skin and because of the reactions I've been getting., skin going red isn't particularly good news. The lotion costs about three pounds and is available from shops such as Boots and Superdrug.
Thanks for reading.
This product was on offer in my local Boots. So I brought it to see what it would be like.
The product is designed with an oil-fighting formula cleanses effectively and helps to prevent spots. For me I found the product didn't do any good and I sae absolutely no improvement. To be honest I would have had the same results not using it. I also found that when used it ended up stinging my face.
The product is packaged in a 200ml clear bottle, so it's easy to see how much is left. With the Clean & Clear sticker very visible, so it is very noticeable. It has a purple lid on top, which does stop leakages. The hole where the liquid comes out is rather on the large side, so you have to have an accurate hand otherwise too much product will come out to quickly and be wasted. The liquid is blue and has water like consistency. Although it has a new improved fragrance sticker on the front, it still smells like alcohol, so in my opinion it doesn't smell the most pleasant.
To use the product you just need to apply the cleanser to a cotton wool pad and wipe over your face and neck, as much as you require. You don't need to use a toner afterwards.
Overall, I really wouldn't recommend this product as I think it's a waste of money and have seen no improvement what so ever. The only thing it does do is removes a tiny bit of leftover makeup.
I have been after a good cleanser for ages and after seeing this product in my local chemist and the bottle stated it was for sensitive skin and made by Johnson and Johnson which is a good brand I thought I would give it a go. It cost me £2.99 for 200ml, so not a bad price to pay if it works.
The bottle looks blue, but this colour comes from the liquid inside, the bottle is actually clear, with clean and clear written on the front, with sensitive skin written in smaller wording underneath. The bottle states it has an oil fighting formula which help prevent spots and it can be used as a cleanser to thoroughly clean or a toner to tighten pores after washing.
How to apply:
Simply put some of the lotion onto a cotton wool ball and then wipe over face and neck as often as required and you do not need to rinse off.
After buying this I first used it in the evening after my shower, I put a small amount of the liquid onto a cotton wool ball, it had quite a strong smell to it but I was amazed at what dirt was on the cotton wool considering I had just showered.
What do I think of the product?
I liked the fact it got rid of oil and dirt from my face and neck, but I did find it dried my skin out and I also found it caused havoc with my eyes, I have hayfever so my eyes are quite sensitive especially in the warmer months and when I first applied the lotion near my eyes the strong scent which I think comes from the eucalyptus was too overpowering and made my eyes very sore.
Since using the product for a few weeks I now tend to wipe my forehead first then cheeks and neck, so that when comes to near my eye area, the strong smell seems to have died down and it doesn't sting my eyes.
I also only use this once a day now, in the morning and apply face cream afterwards so my face is not so dry. I am not sure whether I will continue with it when the bottle is empty, or whether I will find one I prefer more which gives as good results, but for now it is giving my face a deep clean and doing its job, with the help of a good moisturising cream!
Clean & Clear Sensitive Skin Deep Cleansing Lotion, from Johnson & Johnson.
Availability and Price
You can get this from Boots, Superdrug, most supermarkets with a health and beauty section and most chemists.
It will cost you around the region of £3.00 for a 200ml bottle.
It comes in a clear bottle with a light blue fluid (which is great because I always know when I've got to go and buy some more). There is a label on the front with the name of the product and a brief synopsis. Another label is on the back of the bottle with its description, how to apply, caution and a list of ingredients.
How to use
Open the flip top lid, pour some of the watery liquid evenly over a cotton pad and wipe it over your face and neck as often as required, no need to rinse.
The cleanser's purpose is to remove oil, grease and dirt. To prevent spots, refresh, tone and tighten pores.
Quick, simple and my skin is clean.
I suffer from dry skin with oily patches around my t-zones and bouts of eczema on my face. After many failed attempts with other products which made my skin dry and sore, I found Clean & Clear Sensitive Skin Deep Cleansing Lotion from Johnson & Johnson, and I have used this for years now.
I use this twice a day, once in the morning, and once at night. A 200ml bottle for me lasts for about 1 to 2 months, and you can use it as frequently as you want, or need to. I tend to use two cotton pads with half a teaspoon of the cleanser on each, one for all over my face and an extra one for the creases of my nose and over my chin.
It smells a bit like a mild version of aniseed mixed with the aqua Flash bathroom cleaner, but it is not too unpleasant. The best thing I love about this cleanser is the tingly feeling you get when wipe it on your face, it feels like its just fizzing all the dirt and grime away. I always look at the blue colour it turns the pad before wiping my face, afterwards the pad goes a dark shade of grey, which shows me it is doing the job and getting all that grime off my skin. My skin has never felt so clean and for me it really does keep those nasty spots away.
Even though you don't need to rinse your face or apply a toner after you have used the cleanser, I always put some moisturising cream on my face because, after the tingling stops it does sometimes leave my skin feeling quite tight and dry.
The only time you shouldn't use it is if (like me) you have a flare up of eczema. I made the mistake of rubbing it over a patch of very angry skin on my cheek, only for it to be even more sore and more red and I'm sure the children to this day thought I was trying to impersonate a clown!
So if you suffer from sensitive skin and even if you don't, I really recommend giving this one a go.
Clean & Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion is made by Johnson and Johnson and is from a range of Clean and Clear skin products. The product used to be called Astringent but is now changed its name to lotion. Perhaps in an attempt to make it sound kinder. It is designed to give you skin a deep cleanse to help remove everyday dirt and oil and to prevent spots. It is available from most supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug and many chemist stores and retails for around £2.97.
The lotion comes in a 200ml clear plastic bottle with a purple flip top lid. The bottle is clear so you can see how much product is left. The lotion itself is a clear pale blue colour and is the consistency of water. On the front of the bottle it states that it has a new improved fragrance I am not sure what the fragrance was like previously but the current one isn't really that exciting. It smells a bit like alcohol quite strong and not really very enticing. In the ingredients it does list camphor, eucalyptus and menthe piperita (which I assume is some sort of menthol) but I can't say it has the kind of smell that says put me on your skin it will be lovely!
The best way to use this is to apply some to a cotton wool pad and then wipe across your face and neck until your skin is clean. The lotion cleanses and tones so you don't need to use a separate toner. You can also use the lotion simply as a toner after washing your face with soap or a different cleanser. You should not use this around the eye area as it contains alchol and if you do get it in contact with your eye then you should flush the eye area with clean water.
So what do I think. Well its certainly effective at cleansing your skin, the soaked cotton wool pad really picks up the dirt especially from around the neck area. You feel quite satisfied after using it that you are really removing the dirt from your skin. However there are some drawbacks and for me they are a major problem. After water the second main ingredient in this lotion is alcohol and alcohol can dry your skin. Immediately after using this lotion my skin feels tight and dry. Now I moisturise morning and evening so I didn't think this would be a big problem but despite using the moisturiser my skin was still very dry and even starting to flake in places. I stopped using it and went back to my previous cleanser and the problem resolved. I cant really say whether it helps prevent spots as I wasn't able to use it for long enough to see. It does remove the dirt so in that sense it must help to prevent spots but I think it also removes too much of the skins natural oils which isn't a good thing.
The product states that it cleanses your skin gently and is suitable for sensitive skin but I still feel that its too harsh a product for my skin certainly if used daily. I never like to waste products so now what I do is use it once a week for a more deep cleanse but use my other cleanser the rest of the time. Obviously the lotion may not have the same drying out effect on everyones skin but for me it was a big problem. They might have changed the name from astringent to lotion but for me its still far too drying an effect.
I wouldn't recommend this product if you have skin that dries out easily and I wont be buying it again.
Clean and Clear Cleansing Lotion for sensitive skins is manufactured by Johnson and Johnson. It comes in a 200ml bottle and costs around £3.50 for a bottle. It can be purchased from most supermarkets and chemists. The liquid itself is an attractive aqua blue sort of colour.
Johnson and Johnson claim that the oil fighting formula effectively cleanses and helps to prevent spots. The cleanser is specifically designed for sensitive skins and is intended to gently and effectively remove the everyday build up of oil, dirt and grease.
How to use
To use you just apply the cleanser on a cotton pad and wipe over the face and neck as often as required. There is no need to rinse.
Clean and Clear Cleansing Lotion for sensitive skin is a product I would never be without! I have been using it now for about 7 years and have found it to be a superb product for cleansing the face and helping to prevent spots and blemishes.
If you think that a good wash with soap and water is enough to cleanse your skin then I challenge you to try this product. Although I wash thoroughly and regularly... the cotton wool pads that I use to apply the cleansing lotion definitely show that this products works well...
I have tried other cleansers in the past but they have been very harsh and had a detrimental effect on my sensitive skin causing irritation, redness and blotchiness. Clean and Clear, however, is very, very gentle and yet highly effective.
What I really like about the product is that it is very refreshing and has a pleasant smell. Not only does it thoroughly clean the skin but it also tones it as well and tightens the pores so there is no need to apply a toner afterwards.
When I have used the lotion my face feels so fresh and clean that I get the same sort of feeling (for my face) that you get with your mouth when you have brushed your teeth - if you see what I mean!!
I suffer from and oily t-zone and get spot breakouts; so I needed I a skincare routine that was effective but wasn't too harsh on my skin. I chose the sensitive version, even though I haven't got sensitive skin, because some of the products in toners can be quite harsh, but the senstive one isn't.
This doesn't overdry - but you only need a small amount on your cheeks - just put a bit more on your nose, forehead, chin and neck. You can apply it using cotton pads or cotton wool. It can be used as an overall cleanser or as a toner. Even though it tingles; it doesn't sting or burn like some toners do. When I started using this, along with other clean and clear products, the condition of my skin improved immensely. I had less shine and less spots! - Finally a routine that doesn't irritate my skin!
Having tried products like clearasil, but to no avail, I decided to try Johnsons clean and clear. Clearasil always leaves me sore and blotchy, even the ones for sensative skin. Johnsons products have always been fine. I do not suffer with really bad skin, but I have my off days. PACKAGING This product comes in a clear plastic bottle, with a purple flip top lid. On the front of the bottle, is a clear sticker. This sticker gives you the name of the product and the name of the manufactures. On the back of the bottle, there is another clear sticker. This sticker gives you the directions of use, the purpose for this product and the ingredients. The bottle holds 200ml of liquid. The liquid/lotion is of water consistancy and is a bluey/green in colour. It also has a strong, disinfectant like smell to it. PURPOSE OF PRODUCT This product is a cleansing lotion for the skin on your face and neck. It is designed to remove the dirt and grease that ordinary soap and water can leave behind. It is also for sensative skin. This products claims that your face will be left feeling and looking cleaner. It clears your pores and then closes them quickly, which stops dirt from getting in them. DIRECTIONS OF USE *Soak a cotton wool ball or pad in the lotion. *Wipe the saturated pad over you face and neck. *Repeat until the cotton ball/pad comes away clean. *Use twice daily. SMELL The smell to this product is a little on the strong side. It is a disinfectant, surgical smell, that is noticeable from the minute you open the bottle. If you hold the cotton pad to close to your eye, the smell could quite easily bring a tear. EFFECTIVENESS I certainly have noticed a difference in the weeks I have been using this product. The amount of dirt that comes off your face, is quite surprising. I class myself as a clean person, so I was really surprised. Once
you have used this product the first time, you will feel the difference. Your face really does feel and look cleaner and healthier. You will also notice a tightness, as the lotion dries on your skin. It is not an uncomfortable tightening, but you will notice it. It is recommended that you use this product twice daily. I do. Once in the morning and once in the evening. I have been using it for about three weeks now, and will certainly be buying some more, when I run out. Saying that though, I have loads left. It really does go a long way. PRICE I bought mine for £2.79 from a shop called Bodycare. I have seen this product in Asda for £2.15 and superdrug for £2.20. MY OPINION No soreness. No red blotches. No itchyness. I am really happy with this product for all of the above, and the fact that it does what it states it will. I first thought that it was maybe a little on the pricey side, but it lasts forever. I am now quite happy to pay £2.79 for it. Although I do think I will go to Asda next time. If you can get over the smell, then this product is for you. It really does leave your skin clean and clear. I will not be venturing off to try any others, as I have now found something that works and doesn't irritate. If you are looking for something new to try, to clear up your skin, or you just want that fresh clean feeling, then keep your eyes open for this. You will not be dissappointed. Thank you for reading :)
This opinion is on a recent product I bought from Asda whilst shopping with my Mum. It's called: Johnsons Clean and Clear Cleansing Lotion For Sensitive Skin. To let you all know, although it is a lotion, it is a liquid lotion not a cream lotion. The Johnsons Clean and Clear range first appeared in shops 8 years ago in 1994 and the range has since expanded and grown with different products being introduced to shop shelves. Johnsons Clean and Clear Cleansing Lotion For Sensitive Skin is a turquoise colour and is specially designed for sensitive skin. It is also available for normal skin, this is an orangy colour. The bottle is 200ml and I've owned it for at least 2months now and after using it twice a day, everyday the bottle still isn't half way down! The bottle itself is transparent with a label on the front and back including information, ingredients and directions of use. The lid is a flip top so is easy to use. I bought my bottle from Asda for around £2.50 but I have seen the price vary upwards in many other shops. But for somethnig that works, this is worth buying. On the label it says, 'For clean noticeably clear, beautiful skin.' If you have quite a bad patch of spots or maybe even acne I'm not actually sure if this cleanser sorts the spots out even though it is very strong. I'm sure it will probably bring all spots down a bit but not cure them, maybe just make the, less noticeble. (Cream and prescriptions are what you need for this) But for skin like my own, which is quite clear with a couple of small spots and a few patches of rough skin this works wonders! Eventually you do get, clean noticeably clear, beautiful skin! When I first started using this product not much happened, infact my skin became rather irritant to the substance and it seemed like it was stinging my face. However after using the product daily for about a week my skin was used to its new
cleanser and things were starting to look better! Now I have a very clean and clear complexion, I get some outbursts of spots sometimes but don't we all, if its not periods then its chocolate! As it says on the bottle again it leaves your skin feeling, 'Clean, refreshed and beautiful.' For skin like my own I totally recommend this product, it works brilliantly and I'm going to continue using it daily. The only disadvantage is the smell, this stuff has a rather off putting smell, it isn't anything majorly too bad but lets just say the cleanser smells very strong! ~ I have found myself getting used to this though! The cleanser works so well because it reaches places water can't and is basically a single step cleanser. The cleanser can reach grease, dirt and oil. I, myself don't suffer from greasy skin but I've heard this cleanser works well with greasy skin. Directions: Soak a cotton wool pad in the cleanser and rub onto face and neck until all soaked in. Do this twice daily, morning and night. This cleanser product works really well for me, I recommend it to anyone interested, I'm certainly going to buy it again, cheers for reading all. Best Wishes emma xxx :0)
I am a real fan of clean and clear and this is another product of theres I love! You can use it daily and it removes dirt grease grime and makeup! It also helps prevent spots (no it really does)This is a must have for teenagers of any skin type. The only thing that may put you off this product is the smell because it smells really strongly nad it isn't a nice smell. But it is a little thing to put up with considering all the good points of this product.
