“ Brand: Clearasil / Texture: Cream / Type: Night Cream / Subcategory: Lotion / Product line: Clearasil Stayclear „
When I was a teenager, I suffered from terrible acne. I still get the occasional breakout now I am in my 20's, but nothing like what I used to deal with. I try to keep my skin as clean and clear as I possibly can, and I have tried many different spot treatments over the years.
I still use the same treatment that helped me to clear up my acne all those years ago, but only for the major spots that need some heavy duty takedowns. I also use a specific facewash and a face cream to help keep my skin looking good and spot free.
The face cream is use is the Clearasil Day Night Defence Lotion. I have only recently started using this, as they actually had a large amount of it in the local 99p store, and I thought I might as well give it a try. It was only 99p, so if it didn't work, I hadn't exactly wasted a lot of money had I?
The day night defence lotion is oil free, which I think is a great help in the fight against spots as it won't clog up your pores, which we all know, is a cause of spots. The tube the cream comes in is the usual Clearasil white and blue, and it has a screw cap on the bottom of the tube.
Inside the tube, the lotion itself is white, and has a slightly runny, yet thick texture to it. It is silky to the touch, and luckily, it does not have an over medicated smell to it, like some of the spot treatments seem to come with these days. There is a slight scent to it, which you can tell is a spot treatment, but it is not harsh or over powering, and I personally some what like the smell.
I have found that just two blobs on my fingertip is all I need to ensure my face is covered in this lotion. I always use it after washing my face, as is recommended on the back of the tube. It glides onto the skin really easily and it spreads nicely. It is absorbed into the skin quickly, and it gives your skin a nice clean mattified look, with no shiny spots or oily sections. It also leaves the skin soft and smooth, which is something I did not expect.
I really like the way this makes my skin feel, as I can put my make up on straight over it. It acts like a perfect base for foundation, and it seems my make up stays put longer since I have started using this lotion.
I use this day and night, and in the couple of weeks I have been using it, I have noticed that my skin is clearer and more radiant, but this could be a combination of both this lotion and my facewash, which is also a clearasil product.
Personally, I am quite pleased with this product and I do recommend it. If you can find it in your local 99p store, it is truly a great bargain. It may be a smaller tube than what is sold in places like Boots or Superdrug, but it still lasts a long time and it is only 99p!!
After having mine 2 weeks, I would say that my tube is not even half empty yet, and I use this twice a day. You do not need a lot of the lotion each time you use it, so it will last a good while, and it does work, so what is not to like?
I really like this product and I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. Recommended from me.

Finding a product to deal with spots is tricky, and I have never found one yet that lives up to it's big claims. As a result, I take what these products claim with a pinch of salt.
I haven't used a spot product in ages, but purchased this product about a month ago as I have a huge spot and some less noticeable ones, and thought it was time to buy something to actively reduce them. I opted for Clearasil Day Night Lotion. I paid over £5 for a 40ml tube of this product which came in a cardboard box. I chose this over a face wash as I found they normally dried my skin out, and apart from the occasional spot, I am prone to dry skin.
This lotion is oil free and claims to provide light moisturization while clearing up and preventing the breakout of spots, and controlling shine. I liked this product as it smelt nice, which a lot of spot treatment products don't, and while it didn't rapidly reduce my spots, after a day of use they seemed reduced, but they didn't disappear completely. However, I wasn't expecting much, and was happy that the spots were less noticeable, and my skin felt moisturized and not dry. I applied a small amount to my face in the affected areas every morning and night while the spots were there, and they cleared up within about a week and a half, although so I'm not entirely convinced this product sped up the process.
This product is not for those looking for a miracle quick fix, although I do feel it helped reduce the appearance of the spots I had, and I will use it again when I have another breakout, as I still have some lotion left. However, I'm not sure I'd invest again, as it is a pricey product, but then again, most of the spot products I looked at were about the same if not more.
I've used many products in the past to deal with spots, and I'd still say I haven't quite found the right product yet.
Clearasil has been around for many years and have brought out some very good products that do exactly what they should, but in recent years I'd say they've let their products slip.
As stated on the tube, this product is a 'Light moisturising lotion helps clear and prevent breakouts leaving skin smooth and mattified'. Well to a certain extent it is right, it ticks the two boxes of 'prevent breakouts' and 'leaving skin smooth' though it fails on the clearing of spots. You will find as you use this product that at first your spots do die down and you think it is working wonders, though eventually it almost reaches it's maximum, where it will no longer fight back spots, instead just prevent them from breaking out. It's a shame because at first I though this was a keeper, but I need something that works into the skins to stop more spots developing. It's all well and good to prevent them from getting really bad, but I don't want them in the first place, and I'm sure my view is shared alike.
If you don't have many spots, and they never really seem to get that big, then this product might just stop them altogether, but maybe the big ones are just too big of a match for this small tube
At around £3/tube it's a bit expensive when it doesn't quite do what you want it to do you'd rather not part with the cash; so I'll be off to find a better product that works it's magic!
As you maybe aware I recently reviewed the new sensitive toner from Clearasil, the product I will now review is the recommended follow on product in the range.
The product I will now review is " Oil- free, day night defence lotion".
I have used Nivea cream as my moisturiser of choice since receiving a sample pot full of it in my bounty baby bag when pregnant with my daughter. I found nice and thick and didn't seem to irritate my skin at all, the only problem was and still is at times, that it doesn't stop the spots, although in fairness it doesn't bring them out either.
When purchasing the afore mentioned toner it was part of a "buy 2 for £5.00" offer, this product being one of the marked products.
The tube of lotion comes in a box with the unmistakable Clearasil colouring and logo's on it. It states the product name then makes the following claim, "light moisturising lotion helps clear and prevent breakouts, leaving skin smooth and mattified"
Upon opening the long, stand up rectangular box, you are presented with a rather pitiful and small tube of cream, the tube only holds 40ml of the product, which in fairness , if I was paying full price for, I would have walked the other way!
The tube is of the same colouring as the box, and has a blue lid which the tube stands on so as to get every last drop out of.
The product recommends that it be used after a the face has been cleansed and toned thoroughly, ensuring your skin is dry before application.
When the product is squeezed very easily from the tube you will notice a very slight fragrance to it, you don't need a great amount of the cream for your face, a blob a little smaller than a 5p piece will suffice. Emulsify the cream between your hands for a second or two before rubbing gently onto your skin. The cream sinks into your skin immediately, and dries quickly too, in fact you will very much in doubt that you put anything on, as it leaves no trace, aside from the slight scent, that anything has been applied.
My skin felt no different, but no worse, so that's something at least!
Did it stop my spots from erupting, unfortunately no. My spots are not that bad, but I suffer, as I'm sure a few others out there do, around the time I get my monthly visitor.
The cream itself is white and quite runny, I felt that this product, even though it states it is a light moisturiser, is just too light, not really adding anything to my skin.
As I mentioned earlier this was purchased as part of a deal in boots, full price you are looking around the £2.00 mark.
Would I recommend, I am sorry to say but no. I don't feel that I did what it claimed to do, maybe it was just my skin that rebelled, as even though I had no more spots than usual, there were definitely no less.
