My skin is oily and prone to developing blemishes so I need to be careful with the products which I use on it. I also wear lots of make up so I need to ensure that it is probably cleansed at the end of the day too. I bought the Skin Perfecting Wash by Clearsil to try and get my skin nice and clean.
What does the product do?
The product promises to clean the skin, removing impurities, oil and make up from the surface of the face, to leave it both feeling and looking fresh and clean. It contains a moisture complex so it promises to hydrate the skin as well instead of stripping it and leaving it dry and tight. It also contains a gentle exfoliator which removes the dead and dull skin cells to reveal the shiny, radiant ones underneath and to prevent the skin cells from forming blemishes. It promises to unblock the pores leaving them clean and clear. My skin can react to certain products so I bought the sensitive variety.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be used twice a day, both in the morning and in the evening. You need to dampen the skin and then dispense a small amount of the product into your hands. You then need to massage the product into the face using a circular motion and avoiding the delicate eye area. You then need to rinse the product off the face using warm water. You then follow it up with a good moisturiser and your usual make up routine.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a white plastic bottle which has some information about the product given on the back of the bottle. The front of the bottle has little decoration other than some blue patterning. The top of the bottle is a clear pump dispenser and you push down on it in order to dispense the face wash. The product will cost you around £3.50 for 150ml of the face wash although I found mine on offer for £3 in Morrisons. It can be bought from stores such as Superdrug and Boots, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites.
The product is white in colour and it has quite a thick consistency for a face wash. It doesn't really smell of anything at all, it just has a dry aroma to it which is not altogether pleasant but it is so faint that it shouldn't be enough to put anyone off. Despite the face wash being quite thick, it is still easy to push from the bottle and one or two pumps is enough to wash my face with. It is quite gentle on my which I was pleased with because I remember Clearsil products being quite harsh on my skin in the past. You can feel a grittiness ever so slightly in the cleanser as you massage it into the skin. You can't see them and they are so barely there that they won't irritate or hurt your skin but you still feel like it is doing a good job of gently exfoliating the skin. The face wash foams slightly so it does make you feel like it is doing a good job of cleansing the skin. The product didn't cause my skin any irritations or discomfort. When the time is up, it is easy to rinse off the skin. It's a same that the product isn't gentle enough to use on the eye area because then I have to use another cleanser to remove my eye make up.
Once the product is off the skin, my skin doesn't feel dry or tight so I don't think that it strip the skin of its natural moisture but I still need to use my moisturiser after use to make my skin feel comfortable again. My skin does feel really fresh and clean which I like and when I wiped a face wipe across my face after use, I could tell my skin was really clean and no make up came off on the wipe. It feels quite smooth so it does exfoliate gently. My skin was a little red after use but this faded within a few minutes. My skin has been clear since using this wash. It hasn't caused me to develop any blemishes and it has prevented any new ones to form. My skin never has many blemishes but I do get one or two now and again and this face wash seems to have prevented this from happening.
All in all, this is an effective and gentle face wash which cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates the skin leaving it both feeling and looking fresh and clean. It is gentle on my skin and hasn't caused any blemishes on my sensitive skin and it has prevented any new ones appearing too. It effectively removes my make up so it cleanses deeply but I'm knocking off a star because I couldn't use it on the eye area.
CLEARASIL DAILY CLEAR SKIN PERFECTING WASH
Over the last few months I've managed to get a few spots on my skin (mainly my upper body) & they've been really irritating & itchy. For my face spots, I've been using Boots Skin Clear Face Scrub once a week but I can't bear it on my face, for a start it burns my face & afterwards leaves it red & sore, however it cleans really effectively & I don't have anything else. I've also been applying Spot Cream frequently too whenever Spots become noticeable. I'm not sure but my upper Body spots might have been caused by the Laundry Detergent I'm currently using, so might have to change it to something I know won't irritate my skin. Over time, my face has remained near enough clear but I couldn't put up with the stinging / burning anymore, so I switched to the Anne French Cleansing Milk for daily use, & since then I've been using that, for about 2 months. My skin is combination, an Oily T - Zone, plus spotty chin / cheeks & dry patches in the same place is not nice! But one product that I bought in January was ASDA's Skin System Young Skin Moisturiser, Oil Free & prevents Oil reforming. I can tell you that it does work & is also proven to reduce face redness.
Clearasil is a brand that all of us have used at least once during our lifetime. They are a great range of products to fall back on should your spots get out of control. At one time they did produce a Body Wash that promised to have the same effect on the body as it did the face, but they only produce it in Australia now. In the UK they make Face Washes, Gels, Scrubs, Pads & Wipes. They also make Spot Creams & Acne Treatments. Their products can be found in all good Supermarkets, Drugstores & Local Shops, all ranging at different prices, but most of the time you can catch a good deals on Clearasil Products.
Clearasil was originally invented in America in 1950 by a man called Ivan Combe with the help of Chemist Kedzie Teller. At this time, it was the first brand created for younger skin to fight pimples (or Acne). By 1961 the brand was purchased by Richardson - Vicks who were then acquired by Procter & Gamble. They kept the brand until 2000 when Clearasil moved to the Boots Group Portfolio. In 2006 Boots Health International was purchased by Reckitt Benckiser & have been with them ever since. Last year their products when through a makeover which did help them spruce up a bit. Also last year they produced a device that looks very similar to the Dettol No Touch Hand Wash System, except it's got Clearasil pods inside so you apparently have the perfect dose of face wash each time!
SKIN PERFECTING WASH
One of Clearasil's most used & most tested / loved products is their Skin Perfecting Wash, which comes in a white plastic pump bottle which can be locked whilst in use. The bottle is quite compact & durable but it looks nice in the bathroom. The label on the front states that this has a 3 in 1 action; it Cleanses & Gently Exfoliates, has Built in Moisturisers & that you get Clearer Skin Everyday. According to the back label, this product is a cream cleaner that has gentle microbeads to wash away dirt & bacteria. This product also claims to lift away dead skin cells to keep pores unblocked which cause spots! I picked this up a few days ago in Wilko where the whole Clearasil range is currently on offer, this product being £2. I was going to buy a Clearasil Perfectawash (the product that automatically dispenses the product) for £3.99 in Savers, but I saw this & picked it up instead as I have used this product before (some 4 years ago) & found it very effective.
SKIN PERFECTING WASH IN USE
Clearasil do state that you can use it twice daily, it's gentle enough to do so. They say that for best use you should wet your face then pump a small amount onto hands, following by rubbing in circles on your face & neck. Follow by gently rinsing & pat dry. Normally this is how I do it anyway, but by using the pump you can control the amount that you use. After i've wet my face, I twist the pump so it's facing forward (this is open, to lock you twist so it's at the side) & squeeze between 1/2 & 2/3 of an amount. This lovely white cream comes out, & you can also see little bits floating in it aswell. I squeeze it onto my fingertips & rub between my fingers, then follow by rubbing it in circular motions on my cheeks going up to my nose, coming out onto my forehead & then seperating my hands again by rubbing along the side of my face, then ending on my chin, also where lots of dry skin lies. Normally with washes / scrubs I leave them on for a few minutes & normally they sting / burn at this time. Not with Clearasil! I feel nothing at all, just a nice, fresh strong hint of Cucumber & Aloe Vera, which is very pleasant. Whilst rinsing a few times with warm water, following with a splash of Cold Water to cool down skin, the Clearasil washes away easily & my face is left feeling nice & clean. After a pat dry my face does feel a little dry sadly, but that's only around my chin, where dry skin frequently appears. However for the last couple of uses I have followed with the ASDA Young Skin Moisturiser I was talking about earlier, & after this my face feels normal, grease - free & shine free!
Overall this is a well tried & tested product that has stood the test of time. It cleans combination faces really well & only a little bit is required for a full face cleansing. Follow with some moisturiser & you've got a nice, clear face within a few weeks! I think I might have to persuade my brother to send me some Clearasil Body Wash!
THANKS FOR READING!
I bought this from Tesco a few months ago whilst it was on a half price offer. I paid £1.73 for it.
The wash comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser. The pump is a little poor though as you need to push down on it a few times before the wash comes out. However, the more you use it the better it becomes. The wash smells nice. It has a pleasant scent that I would describe as quite invigorating. The colour of the wash is white. The consistency of the wash is quite thick and creamy. It's mostly aimed at spotty/ teenage skin.
The wash is easy to use. You just pump a small amount of it into your hands, add a little warm water and then apply it to a wet face. I find that the wash is really creamy and luxurious. It foams up well and it has a rich and creamy lather. The wash needs to be rubbed into your skin and rinsed off with clean warm water. I find that the wash rinses easily without leaving any residue on your skin after use. I was using this product twice a day initially, morning and night. However, I did notice that the wash was starting to dry my skin out so I had to limit my use of it to just once per day, in the morning. This was much better for my skin.
Apart from the wash being a little too drying for me it did improve the condition of my skin. My skin wasn't as spotty and my blemishes soon disappeared. I wouldn't buy this at full price but I would buy it again if I saw it on offer.
After years as a teenager of suffering oily and 'spot prone' skin, approaching 20 I starting using Clearasil Stayclear Skin Perfecting Wash. Clearasil being a top label for skin care, established in the 1950's so it's had plenty of time to earn its reputation, I thought it was about time I tried it.
I was immediately drawn to the skin perfecting wash when I was looking through the Clearasil products as it sounded exactly what I wanted, to perfect my skin, as well as having attractive packaging, an easy to use pump and being available for both normal and sensitive skin. The wash is creamy with small micro-beads to gently exfoliate skin whilst washing, although the product is available for sensitive skin I find the one for normal skin is perfectly fine for me, gentle on skin and non irritating. I use this wash morning and evening, it leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean, removes the excess oils from your skin without leaving it feeling dry or tight as some facial washes can do, and certainly stops my skin from becoming 'shiny' longer than its competitors. I'm not lucky enough to never get spots, but the Skin Perfecting Wash certainly helps, when I do get spots they clear up quickly and are not nearly as hideous as they were before using Clearasil!
In my opinion definitely a product worth trying if you suffer from problem skin, I've tried most products on this market and always come back to Clearasil; it's not unreasonably priced, usually around £2.50 a go, but it often on 3 for 2 offers in Boots stores, I tend to stock up!
I have been suffering from a few breakouts lately and I was looking for something to help clear my skin. I bought this wash in Asda where currently all Clearasil products are £2. One of the main things that appealed to me about this wash is that it has a pump action dispenser. The bottle contains 150ml of wash.
The bottle states the wash has been developed for daily use to help clear and prevent breakouts. It has a gentle microbead formula which is designed to penetrates deep into pores to remove dirt, oil and bacteria. Moisturising agents leave skin soft, smooth and hydrated.
For best results it is recommended that you use the wash morning and night. You simply wet your face and massage a small amount in circular motions onto your skin. Before rinsing with clean warm water.
The wash contains salicylic acid which is a well known spot fighter. It works by encouraging the shedding of dead skin, therefore unblocking pores and preventing blemishes.
The wash when dispensed is very creamy, there are no noticable particles in it, however when you are massaging it into your face you can feel the little 'microbeads'. It has a clean smell, it reminds me a little of mint.
I have dry and senstive skin so a lot of washes that I use tend to dry my skin out. This wash however left my skin really soft and feeling clean. After using this twice a day for a week I noticed my skin felt a lot cleaner and the blemishes had disappeared.
I would recommend this to anyone who suffers and occasional breakout and who has sensitive skin. A lot of washes I have tried in the past have left my skin tight and itchy, this wash is gentle yet effective. It is also reasonably priced, I would definately buy it again.
I have always suffered from spots and so i've tried many different creams and face washes to combat them, there's some that have worked a treat and some that have been terrible. This one was terrible. Clearasil is quite a well known brand, particularly for spotty skin so i expected so see at least some results from this face wash. I used this product twice a day, morning and night for over a year! It was pretty stupid of me to continue buying it for this long when it was having absoloutely no improvement to my skin whatsoever, i'd put that down to laziness and that i didn't have the time to be looking for another product. In over a year this face wash has done nothing from my skin so it definetely hasn't kept my skin clear in the slightest.
I also find the smell of this product to be not very nice and i don't feel that cleansed after using it. It even looks horrible, it is an off white-ish colour which makes it look out of date. I regret buying this face wash for such a long period of time for the money i've wasted on it. I was definetely too optimistic with it, thinking that one day it would eventually start working! But that day never came and it never will as i won't be buying it again.
150ml bottle priced at £3.05 in Boots.
I have been using this product for the last 2 years and I have so far found nothing better.
There is a sensitive skin version of this product, which is the one I have been using.
Over the years of buying this product I have on average paid £2.50 per unit.
The product does not come packaged in a box but really there is no need for it to do so. The product has a pump on the top, which can be turned to lock or unlock. One press of the pump provides an adequate amount of cream to wash your face and neck.
As stated previously I have used this product for a number of years and I have found it really good at cleansing my skin without drying it out, even when used twice a day. The product is best described as a cream consistency with tiny little micro beads in. The product claims to actually moisturise the skin, I would say that I haven't found this product to moisturise my skin but it does not dry it out. The Clearasil Skin Perfecting wash didn't really help me prevent my skin from breaking out in spots or blackheads forming however it did not aggravate existing spots.
I would definitely recommend this product to other people with sensitive skin, who want a deep clean feeling without the dryness.
This really works i have used it today and it was fast-acting
I recently had a few blemishes on my skin and although I just usually wash and go and do not use anything on my face other than shaving products and soap on my skin, but I was recently visiting one of my daughters and she recommended I give it a try from her bathroom cupboard.
It comes in a plastic container with a pump top to release the thick, creamy, soft liquid and for only £4.25 for 150ml it is very good value for money, and at first I did not think it would improve my skin so quickly but within a couple of days it has been back to normal.
It has very fine crystals inside the liquid and although they cannot be seen they can be felt on the skin when it is being massaged gently into the face area of the skin and it is designed for sensitive skin, although I do not have sensitive skin myself, it is fine for my daughter who does have delicate skin and uses it on a regular basis.
It gently exfoliates the skin to rid blemishes and prevent them from hopefully not returning too often in the future, although we all have spots and blemishes from time to time and need a little bit of extra help to repair the skin and that is the reason I tried it, I think it is ideal for teenagers to use to help their skin as we all suffer or have suffered when we were young.
It can be bought from Tesco and it can be found on the face cleansing isle and it is a good size to place into a bathroom cabinet or bathroom shelf, it can also be bought from most good chemists or supermarkets too.
It contains moisturiser and so it does leave the skin nice and soft and I think it is ideal for teenagers who are going through puberty and I think it is excellent value for money in my opinion.
It is fragrance free and dermatological tested and with daily use it refreshes and moisturises at the same time.
I would never have thought of buying this product but I am pleased I first tried it from my daughters bathroom cabinet as it has worked a treat in just a couple of days.
I go fishing a lot and sometimes the weather is not good for the skin and I have a very sweet tooth and so my skin can very occasionally have blemishes and I will be definitely buying it for myself when the container is empty and I highly recommend it for anyone to try and repair your skin and keep it nice and clean and blemish free.
I rate it 5 stars.
Clearasil is made by Reckit Benckiser which is a huge multi-national company. They were founded over 150 years ago. So are well established and are a trusted name. There product range is massive it includes many household Cleaning name brands, medicinal brands and beauty products.
The product comes in a handy 150ml pump dispenser. The labelling is very well thought out with a good description of what the product is and what it can do for you.
The how to use instructions are very clear. The ingredients are also listed and there are plenty of contact details on the back.
The product is a bright white colour with a small amount of exfoliating grains. The product foams up nicely when massaged into a wet face and is not to harsh, it rinses of easily and leaves behind really soft feeling clean skin. It does smell a bit medicinal but its not an over powering smell and once you've rinsed off there is no noticable smell. With the product being in a pump dispenser you do get exactly the right amount and there is no juggling the bottle trying to get the lid back on or waste.
This product does work for me. I think the product is aimed at teenagers. I did purchase it for my son but started using it for myself when I started getting spots after a period of stress. I only use it once a day in the shower the bottle does say you can use it twice a day. My spots have dried up nicely and my skin has not dried out as with some products. I used to get the occasional black head but they seem to be on the decline after using this. I have got a few red marks and am hoping these will clear up to with continued use. The bottle lasts me around a month so it is really good value for the money. I brought it from Wilko's for around £3 I will definitely buy this again and if a friend was having skin trouble I would recommend this to them.
After trying many different face washes over the years i have finally found a face wash that actually makes a difference for my skin!
Nothing has worked for me until i started using clearasil stayclear. It did take a few weeks before a noticed a difference but i have now been using it about 2 years and hardly suffer from bad skin at all anymore.
It is reasonably priced, it varies between £2-£3 for a 150ml bottle, depending on what offers are on. I would actually pay a lot more than this because i know that it works! It is available in all supermarkets, boots and superdrug etc.
It is very moisturising and leaves your skin very soft, smooth and never dries my skin out. It says it is a gentle exfoliator but the cream is very smooth and creamy, you cant see any exfoliating particles. When you apply it to your skin, it tingles and smells so fresh, you can really feel it working on your skin.
The product claims it removes all dirt, oil and bacteria from your pores with its gentle microbead formula.
I have very sensitive skin, and i have yet to find a product which doesnt irritate me, until i found this product. It is not harsh on your skin, and is suitable for any skin type.
I think the bottle is well designed, although i do find the pump gets clogged now and again. It is a small bottle, which fits nicely on the shelf in my shower.
This product is included in the 3 for 2 offer on facial skincare products in Boots at the moment, so i intend to stock up this weekend!
A bottle lasts about 6 weeks, thats me and my boyfriend using it every day, so it lasts a long while!
Overall my skin feels fresh and clean and i would highly recommend this product.
As I was coming to the end of the foaming facial wash I had been using, I was on the look out for a new face wash, I had recently had a problem area on my chin where I seemed to have become prone to spots....shock, horror....at my age!!!!!! So, to have a face wash that would also help this little pesk of a problem would be ideal.
While shopping in Sainsbury's I noticed Clearasil Stayclear Skin Perfecting Wash, at the bargain price of £2.00 as they were advertising a third off (so by my ancient history of maths would deduce this to be £3.00 normal price in that supermarket). Prices when looking on the web afterwards do seem to vary, but you can get some good offers, so keep your eyes open. It promises 'gentle exfoliating formula helps clear and prevent breakouts. Contains moisturisers to help care for your skin'. So on that promise, it went into my shopping basket.
The product itself is packaged in a rigid plastic container, and also has a recycleable symbol on it for those who care about the environment. It has a pump action nozzle which you just have to twist to open, you can twist back for it to lock again, and it is safe, no spillages, it has been back and too in my suitcase for the last 2 weeks, and all contents stayed intact. It is a 150ml container, white, with blue clearasil sticky label to front, and sticky label on back containing instructions and ingredients. Best before date is also on the reverse of container, this is a dermatologically tested item, so please do not use after the expiry date.
It is suitable for sensitive skin and states, fragrance free and dermatologically tested. Specially developed for daily use for sensitive skin to help clear and prevent breakouts. How does it work? The gentle microbead formula penetrates deep into pores to remove dirt, oil and bacteria. Moisturising agents leave skin soft, smooth and hydrated.
I usually use approximately 2 pumps of the face wash, it is a thick white creamy substance, and when you massage into your face (avoiding the eye area) you can feel the fine grains of exfoliant, not too harsh, which is why it is suitable for daily use, morning and evening, the cream wash is actually quite moisturising as well. Once face has been cleansed, just wash off with warm water. I have been using this now for about 2 weeks, and I can report that my skin after washing does feel slightly more moisturised than with old face wash (however, is no substitute for a proper moisturiser, always use a suitable moisturiser for your skin type as part of your beaty regime), I feel after my 2 week trial that my pores are noticeably better from using this, and my problematic pesky spot prone area on my chin, so much more under control that it is a problem no more.
I must admit, when I see the sign Clearasil, I do think teenagers, and for use by teenagers, however, I was really impressed with the cleansing qualities of this product, it is so much more affordable as well than some other brand name face washes, and I feel it did a much better job. Do not be put off by thinking it is for teenagers, stash it, after all, we are all young at heart :o). I shall definitely be adding this to my shooping again.
My skin seemed to be constantly spotty and after trying everything 'natural' I decided to go for clearasil with the hope that it would clear up my spots.
The bottle still has a medicinal feel to it, I guess it is. The pump could be improved though as you pump it 3 times or so before something come out, or it dries up and gets stuck meaning a solid bit and creamy bit comes out onto you hands.
It says it target spots in 3 ways but the back has peeled off so I can't go in to much detail. It removes excess oil, has micro beads to exfoliate and prevents spots which sounded perfect to me.
All you have to do is pump some out, add some water and spread over your face in circular motions and the tiniest bit is enough so don't use too much as it has a strong menthol smell and makes my eyes water a bit. It is a creamy wash which meant it didn't dry out my skin as much as I had expected. The micro beads also exfoliated so after I had washed my face it felt fresh and clean.
I hadn't used clearasil products before so I wasn't sure how it was going to work on my skin. I used this in the morning and at night just by itself and after a week or so my skin had cleared up quite a bit and after using this for a month or so, my skin looked okay again, although I didn't have acne, just annoying spots so I can't comment on how this would work for people with acne.
The pump was a bit annoying as it didn't reach the bottom and meant I wasted quite a bit, but overall I have continued to use this occasionally and it has worked fine. I also found that putting a bit witout water directly onto spots worked like a concentrated solution.
I have been using this for a year now and would recommend it to anyone sick of trying products to zap spots as this actually works and all for about £3, the pump is just annoying.
I use this product everyday as part of my cleansing routine.
I find it a good way of clearing the pores and it is a nice and light cream to use on the skin and it does not feel heavy like some do.
It is fragrance free and dermologically tested and specially develloped for daily use.
It has small beads that gentle exfoliate the skin while deep cleanses.
It prevents blemishes and contains moisturiser, which is a very gentle moisturiser.
150ml and is priced at around £4.25
I bought mine from Tesco on special offer at £2.50 as Tesco often do offers on cleansers.
It does have a use by date of about 9 months but that is only a guide line as we all know usually.
It has a pump action top to dispense the cleanser.
Only negative part of this product was the pump, it does not always dispense from the applicator, i have had a couple like this but it is only a small problem because once you have used it about 5 times it loosens itself and is fine.
All blemishes tend to be removed after a day or 2 with this cleanser.
It looks nice and is small enough to fit into a bathroom cabinet or even a dressing table.
I am happy with it.
I've stayed with Clearasil for more that 10 years and thats the longest relationship I've had for any product so I feel I know the product maybe slightly better than others. Clearasil is a leader in spot creams and has a range of products ranging from the classic scrub to intense spot creams.
Clearasil originally was sold in an ugly square like bottle with a skinny pump and foil sticker on the front, thankfully it's new design is slightly nicer. It still has the famous blue and white bottle and sticker but the bottle is a little more curvier and less medical looking than before. Its kept the pump but it is now a lot smaller but it still has the same problem that the old one used to; when the cream dries out it blocks the pump making you pump it madly until the pressure builds and bam! You have dried out cream and fresh cream all over you. Yuck!
The cream has for a long time contained micro beads that give your skin a fresh scrubbed feeling that tingles when you leave it on for slightly too long, but thats the way I always liked it. The micro beads also help with dry skin (which is what I use it for now when I get dry skin from time to time). The bottle states that for those that have spot problems to use it twice a day, morning and night. Personally, although I didnt have acne per se, I did suffer like any teenage from a persistant crop of spots that affected my T zone at er certain times of the month. This spot cream worked for me and I continued to use it (to a lesser extent in my late teens) until now.
However my friend (who also suffered from the same problem) saw that the cream worked for me and also bought the same product but used the sensitive version of the cream. Big Mistake! The cream made her break out worse than ever and cause a red rash on her skin. She has incredibly sensitive skin so beware if you too have the same.
As you put one to two pumps of the cream on your hand and rub into your skin you'll notice the pleasant peachy like smell. This is a huge improvement on the old smell and I was quite suprised when I used the new stuff for the first time. Rub the cream into your skin and leave on for a minute or two if you want that scrubbed feeling. Then wash the cream off your face and pat dry (never rub!).
Dont expect miracles though - wait a good two months before you see noticeable improvements. I also discovered that once you are free of the spots to just KEEP ON GOING WITH THE TREATMENT! Half the reason why I still use it now is because my skin is so used to being squeaky clean so if you're ready to move on and have rid yourself of the spots slowly wean your skin off it.
Helps reduce and prevent breakouts /
