This was the first product that I tried from Clinique around 7 years ago and I of my favourite products in the range. It just seems to work well on my skin, and although due to the price of this I sometimes have a break from it, it is still a good product.
When I first tried this I had a bit cash to splash and went to the Clinque counter in my Local branch of Boots. Back then this was the only more designer brand stand in my branch but now thesedays there is lots of little stand in my shop. I had heard good things about Clinque and was looking for something to help my bad and Spotty skin.
When I first went there the assistant checked my skin, asked me questions about how I felt my skin was, how often I got spots etc and the advised of a few different products that would work well. She advised that if I bought 2 full sized products then I would get their little Bonus Time goody bag which had 7 or 8 little sample sized tubes and bottles in it, which allowed me to try different products without buying them. Anyway enough about them, it's about this Lotion.
This is essentially a Toner. This comes in a 200ml bottle and the last time I bought this it cost me £16. This price has much stayed the same over the years and hasn't seemed to increase much.
This looks like the bottle. It is a sort of frosted coloured plastic bottle which has the light green liquid shining through the bottle. This has the large silver C on the front which is the branding of the brand. This looks alright. Perhaps not overly expensive looking, but you know by the Silver C that this is the designer style brand.
To use this you just hold a bit Cotton Wool over the end of this, tip the bottle up a little to wet the Cotton Wool and then wipe this over your face. This has a slight nippy sort of Astringent kind of smell to it, and when you wipe this over your face then your face will instantly feel a little tight and perhaps it will nip a bit, which it did on my larger spots but after about a minute when this dried out then my face felt smooth and although the Spots looked perhaps a bit redder they seemed to feel a bit drier quite quick and the next day after using this at night I felt that they seemed to be smaller.
I use this day and night and I find that this tackles existing spots, seems to keep new ones at bay and gets rid of my oily shine. It is a really good product, and although expensive this will still do me a good couple of months on the 1 bottle.
A great product, just wished it was a bit cheaper.
I have been using this product for almost two years and I can honestly say it's the best product of it's type I have used.
I have always been prone to break outs, but using the anti blemish solutions clarifying lotion has really helped to keep it under control. I use it as part of the Three Step routine recommended by Clinique after the cleansing bar and before the moisturiser. I would recommend following the same technique to anyone interested in this product. It does need to be used every day morning and night, and I do notice a difference if I don't use it for a few days.
Sometimes I do have a stinging sensation after use so if you have sensitive skin I would suggest asking a Clinique counter if they have a sample you can try.
The term lotion in the title is slightly mis-leading as this is actually more of a toner product which you use with cotton wool pads.
The downside is the price (at £16 for 200ml - Boots) but a little does go a long way and one bottle lasts me for quite a while. Most Clinique stockists have offers on throughout the year so I stock up and make use of the free gifts they have on offer.
Most department stores such as Debenhams & House of Fraser and also larger Boots stores have a Clinique counter as well as being able to buy online through Clinique site directly.
I have been using Clinique's Anti-Blemish Clarifying Lotion for a while now. I've used alot of different products aimed at blemish prone skin and this has now become a favourite of mine.
So nearly woman who likes skin care knows it's recommended we cleanse and moisturise daily. Clinique helpfully call this a '3 step system.' Step 2 is their range of Clarifying lotions and they have one for each different type of skin ranging from dry to oily. If you are unsure, simply speak to one of their advisors in store, or alot of them have a little chart you can play with to find you skin type.
Clarifying lotions are to be used after you have cleansed, I use a cleansing lotion of a different brand, but Clinique have a range of face washes and cleansing face washes you can use if you wish to follow their exact 3 step system.
They also have an anti-blemish range, and within this range they have the anti-blemish clarifying lotion which I use. As the name suggests, its aimed for blemish prone skin types, which I have.
I've never fancied Clinique's range before, it seems rather expensive and I've never been one for expensive 'designer' cosmetics and toiletries, but I hadn't been having much luck with more cheaper brands. If you feel the same way, I would recommend maybe buying some of the many 'travel size' bottles widely available on sites such as eBay before you purchase a full size bottle costing around £15!
So what does the Clinique Anti-Blemish clarifying lotion say it can do?
Step 2 of Anti-Blemish Solutions 3-Step System. Gentle, effective formula exfoliates to clear dead surface cells and reduce excess oil that can lead to breakouts. Unclogs pores. Oil-absorbing powders eliminate shine. Soothes irritation, redness.
Sounds promising! Ok, so how do I use this wonder lotion?
SHAKE WELL. Using a cotton ball, sweep over face and throat, avoiding eye area. Use AM and PM after cleansing with Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Foam. If bothersome drying or peeling occurs, reduce usage. After acne clears, continue using for preventative care. Follow with Anti-Blemish Solutions Clearing Moisturizer Oil-Free.
I do follow with the anti-blemish moisturizer but that will be a different review altogether.
So, I use this lotion morning AND evening after using my cleansing lotion. This lotion is the frist time ever where I have done this. In the past you were lucky if I cleansed my skin so thoroughly more than once a day! But this lotion really has kept me at the twice a day daily ritual.
I use cosmetic cotton wool pads, Boots brand with this lotion. Before using you might notice a white substance gathered at the bottom, you have to give the bottle a good shake and the whole lotion will turn cloudy. You will have to do this everytime you use it, as whatever this white lotion is it always sinks to the bottom by the time you next come to use it.
I place the cotton wool pad over the top and tip it up onto the pad about 3 times, this is usually enough.
Now I just sweep it over my face, concerntrating more on the more oily and blemish pronce areas.
I find this lotion nice and refreshing and quite tingly, however I really wouldn't recommend this lotion on skin that has rather severe acne as I can imagine it being rather painful and not refreshing! I have read on other review sites that this lotion has done this to people, I would speak to a clinique advisor if you are thinking of trying this and have quite severe acne!
The great thing with this is, after I have used it I can see the results on the cotton wool pad. Even after cleansing you can see a dirty tinge to your cotton wool. I always leave this lotion a few minutes to sink in and dry before I apply moisturiser, and then make up if it's a morning.
I have been using this lotion a couple of months now and I can honestly say the amount of blemishes and spots I get has gone right down, and my pores are also gradually becoming smaller! Although I do sometimes use the clinique pore minimiser serum so that may be helping too. It's got to the point now where my face doesn't feel fresh and clean until I've used this!
I usually stock up on this whenever Clinique has a bonus time on near me, usually you buy 2 products and get a gift free which is jammed pack with 9-10 Clinique mini's ranging from other skin care products to make up, these sometimes come in a nice make up bag too which you can re-use but it depends on what the offer is! Also keep an eye out for online offers, you always get 2 free samples with an order placed on clinique's website, but the postage can be quite hefty so keep an eye out for free postage deals too. They often do free gifts online with purchases too, I recommend signing up for the newsletter to keep up with these!
