Advantages: My skin feels less clogged up, smooth and just looks better.
Disadvantages: It's so expensive, £15 for a face mask... I can live without this one.
I am a huge fan of Clinique's Anti-Blemish range. I have olily spot prone skin and I find using their products really help, namely the clarifying lotion and the spot treatment gel. They recently brought out the Anti-Blemish cleansing mask in their anti-blemish range and whilst buying my clarifying lotion I decided to give this new poduct a go, as I've been so impressed with the other products!
- About Clinique -
Clinique are an offshoot from the Estee Lauder company and were founded in 1968. Clinique claim to cater for individual's needs and realises that everyone has a different skin type. They are most famous for their 3-step skin care regimes, which consists of 3 products and often comes with the line '3 Products. 3 Minutes. Twice a Day' and they claim if you follow this easy 3-step solution for your facial skin type then you will notice a huge improvement in your skin. All of Clinique's products are allergy tested and many of them are 100% fragrance free.
They have products aimed at dry skins, normal skins, combination skins, oily skins... well, you get the picture. They also have their anti-blemish range for people who suffer from spots and blemishes.
If you are unsure what your skin type is, the consultants at their counters will give you a quick and free consultation and advise you on the best products to use. Alternatively you can take the online consultation which is quick and easy to do.
You can find their counters in Boots, Debenhams and many other department stores. Their products are more high end, and range from about £8 to £20-30. Clinique will often have a 'bonus time' gift special offer on. You usually need to buy 2 products and recieve a make-up bag with lots of Clinique mini's in and usually a full size product. I prefer to buy Clinique products when this offer is running as it's a great way to try out new products.
- The Product -
The anti-blemish cleansing mask is aimed at all skin types who suffer from blemishes. It helps cleanse your face of impurities and excess oils, which helps prevent nasty breakouts!
The full size product is 100ml which is quite a large tube of the stuff. It certainly lasts a while, as I only use a small amount on each application 2-3 times a week.
The mask comes in a tube (and packaged in a cardboard box). The colour scheme is a pale minty-green which matches the rest of Clinique's Anti-Blemish range. The mask product itself is brilliant white in colour, similar to toothpaste really, and it's nice and thick. Face masks should not be runny in my opinion!
The mask doesn't have a strong smell to it, infact you have to sniff it pretty hard to smell anything at all, which is great considering most anti-spot products out there can smell of astringent or tea tree, sometimes I just don't want a heavy scent.
Using the cleansing mask is very easy. I always apply after I have been in the shower and used a good face scrub as this ensures my pores are open and clean. I squeeze a small amount onto my fingers and begin applying this to my face in circular motions. It spreads out easily and I will probably only need 1 more squeeze to completely cover my face, minus the delicate eye area.
Once I have finished applying I give my hands a good wash and the mask isn't too difficult to remove from your fingers. Almost straightaway you can feel the mask drying and becoming tight, yes it's one of those types of face masks and I love it! Some face masks don't become tight or dry, they just stay as a liquid and I don't find those types to be good at removing any excess oils or even making my skin feel any better after removing it.
The instructions state to leave on for 5 mins, I usually leave it on for 10 minutes though without any adverse reactions. After the 10 minutes the mask feels nice and firm and ready to come off!
I usually dampen a face cloth with warm water, squeeze and the excess and wipe off the face mask. It comes off easily and you won't be scrubbing at your face to remove this one! I'm pleased it's quick to remove as there's nothing I hate more than spending ages removing a face mask from every corner of my face.
- Does it work? -
After using this just once I do notice my face feels nice and smooth and not oily at all. Any excess oil is removed from my oily face however it hasn't dried it out at all! I like to use this mask 2-3 times a week and I'm really pleased with the results the day after I have used it. My face doesn't feel as clogged up or shiny at all so that's got to be a great result.
Combining this face mask with the other products in the Anti-Blemish range I feel gives great results, and I am yet again impressed with a product in this range.
- Value for Money? -
So, you get 100ml of the product but it costs £15.17. This is very expensive and it's about how much I pay for my clarifying lotion which in my eyes is really worth the money as my skin is terrible without it. With the face mask though, whilst it is a good product my skin isn't terrible without it, thanks to the other products in the range, and so I probably wouldn't buy it again and for that I only give it 4 stars. Had this been much cheaper it would have hit the 5 star rating.
Summary: A great new product in Clinique's Anti-Blemish range, but an expensive one!
