I have used Clinique's Dramatically Different moisturising lotion for years.
This moisturiser tends to be more expensive than many but I always feel pampered when I use it. It lasts a long, long time (125ml bottle will last me 6 months) and I still get excited when I can go buy some more! I like to wait until Clinique have a special offer so I can get a free bonus bag but generally speaking the moisturiser on its own costs around £17.
I like to simple, clean style of this range - the packaging is a light sea-green. The cardboard box the bottle comes in is oblong and strong. The bottle itself is of hard, transparent plastic with a stylish silver coloured push down dispenser. The tube goes right to the bottom of the bottle and you can see just how much is left so it is easy to see when it is time to restock.
The bottle itself is just under 12 cm high and 5 cm wide, a little big to put into my make up bag but it looks nice on my dressing table.
I always feel a product is more of a quality product if the writing doesn't come off the bottle. I hate it when I'm using beauty products and I get a bit of silver or black 'ink' which has transferred from the container. Not with Clinique's Dramatically Different! The Silver and green wording stays firmly where it should be - on the bottle and not on my face..
I like the fact that this product has been dermatologically developed for allergies and that it is 100% fragrance free.
The reason I like this moisturiser more than any other is that it is so light! It is not greasy and it is absorbed beautifully into my skin. My skin looks refreshed the moment I use it. It doesn't leave a nasty streak like some thick moisturisers, but leaves my skin feeling soft and velvety smooth.
It recommends that it is applied to the face and throat and wherever else needed. I take that to heart and use it on the back of my hands too! I use many hand creams as I am a mosaic artist and grout is a killer to my skin but I do add a little of this lovely lotion to the back of my hands to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Would I recommend to my friend? Absolutely!
I have recently purchased the 3 step system from Clinique as at the age of 31 I am still struggling with outbursts of spots and it was time to invest in a high end product. I mainly did so because they offer a money back guarantee if you're not happy with the product. I have been advised by a Clinique consultant that I should see improved skin after 2 weeks and to come in for a consultation after that time to discuss any issues.
After 2 weeks of using the 3 step system I saw more radiant skin that feels lovely and smooth and I have not had any huge spots as I would before so I have kept with the programme and would definitely recommend it to other people.
This particular product is the 3rd step of the system. After washing my face and cleansing it with the clarifying lotion I use the cream that comes in a handy pump bottle. I find one pump not quite enough and 2 pumps is too much but that might just be a personal choice. I might go for a tube next time to allow me to dispense just the right amount.
The colour of the product is a pale yellow and it feels nice and fresh when applying it to your face. It says to leave out the eye area but as I don't use an eye cream I just use this one all over my face and it works well for me. My skin feels nicely moisturised and not greasy as it's sometimes the case with other moisturisers.
I would definitely recommend it as part of the 3 step system, the whole programme has worked well for me and it'll be nice to see if my skin keeps improving over the months.
I have used it for a month now and have maybe used a sixth of each product, so I reckon it will last me half a year before I need to buy more. The whole set cost about £60 so that's £10 a month for my facial skincare. I think that's perfectly acceptable for such a high end product.
The lotion is the priciest out of the 3 steps and starts from around £17. Always make sure when buying these that you make the most of promotions, check with your Clinique assistant when the next promotion is happening and you could bag yourself discounts, extra points in Boots and free samples.
Most recently this lotion has been 'upgraded' and there is now a Lotion+ that locks in even more moisture according to the ads. I have tried this using a free sample and find it not in any way different to the 'old' product.
I am always on the lookout for something to cure my dry skin and I think I've finally found it. Retailing at £29.50 for 125ml for some it may seem expensive but trust me its worth it. The lotion is part of the three step skin care system at Clinique but you can just by the moisturizer on it's own which is what I did.
When applying you only need a small blob to fully moisturize your face which means the lotion lasts quite a long time. My favourite thing about this is that its super hydrating without be greasy on my face. It absorbs almost instantly from application.
The lotion is recommended for those with very dry to dry skin which is me and I must say it has made a great change to the texture of my skin. Gone is the tight flaky skin to reveal soft and supple skin. The bottle comes with a pump which makes getting the right amount much easier. I definitely recommended you buy the lotion with the pump as otherwise you always end pouring out way too much lotion then needed.
Overall it's a great product which I can see myself fully coming back to over the years and I would recommend it to others as well.
For many years I was prone to small areas of eczema on my face and arms whenever I got stressed, and as I am one of life's worriers this was quite a lot. I tried a lot of different products to tackle it - medical creams, herbal remedies, normal moisturisers, trying not to get stressed but nothing worked and so I thought it was just one of these things I would have to put up with. I have quite sensitive skin as well so always worry a bit when I try new products in case it makes things worse.
It was during the build up to my wedding when I went to get a make up trial done with Clinique that the sales person suggest I try Dramatically Different Moisturiser to help with the eczema and also to give me less dry skin overall. As I was spending a fair amount on make up for the big day I thought why not and I have honestly never looked back. Within a few days the eczema had gone and my skin felt much better overall.
The moisturiser is a bit expensive but once you have bought the initial bottle with the pump you can then buy the refill bottle (i.e. the one without the pump) which makes it a bit cheaper. A bottle lasts me for around 4 to 6 months usually and it really is worth its weight in gold to me. The pump is great as it means you can use small amounts at a time rather than tipping out more than you need which reduces waste. I try to wash the pump in between bottles to help with hygiene but I haven't had a problem with mess etc using it.
The moisturiser itself is great. I can feel if I have forgotten to put the moisturiser on as my skin feels quite tight without it. Within a few minutes of applying my skin feels softer and more relaxed. I'm sure the time is going to come when I need to progress on to a moisturiser which tackles lines but at the moment this is one item I just won't be without as I can honestly say that I have not had a problem with the eczema since I started using it. I would whole-heartedly recommend this product to anyone who has dry skin and is looking for a moisturiser which can tackle this.
Clinique has a 3 Step Skin Care regime consisting of Clinque Mild Facial Soap, Clinique Clarifying Lotion, and Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion. I have recently reviewed the first two of these products, and as you can see I have been more than happy with them, and so I expected exactly the same from this product. Luckily, I was right.
As with most Clinique products, this moisturiser is rather expensive. It retails at around £15 for a 50ml bottle (or £24 for a 125ml bottle), and this is the price that I paid from the House of Fraser. Given that you can pick up a big bottle of good moisturiser from drug stores for probably around a third of this price, many people might choose to opt for cheaper alternatives. However, as with all of the Clinique facial products that I have already used, a little goes a VERY long way, and hence the value for money is absolutely oustanding. I will always advise you to search online for cheaper alternatives to the high street, on sites such as ebay or Amazon. A great idea is to buy a small sample of a product online to see if it works well with your skin before you splurge on a full sized bottle.
The moisturiser comes in a small, square-ish bottle with a pump on the top of the bottle. The Clinique logo is printed on the front in silver lettering, along with a brief description of the product. On the back of the bottle, there is some more information printed about the product. The moisturiser is really well packaged and looks great, and the bottle is small enough to fit into your handbag for everyday use.
The moisturising lotion can be dispensed quickly and easily from the bottle using the pump on the top of the bottle. There is a cap that fits over the pump which avoids any spillage of the product when you're carrying it around. The pump is great and does not stick at all - I also find that it dispenses just the right amount of product - not too little, and not too much. This is great as it means you don't waste the product!
- THE PRODUCT
The moisturising lotion is a pale yellow colour, and has a very light and silky texture. It should ideally be applied after using the Clinique Facial Soap and Clarifying Lotion, although this is not essential. The moisturiser is absorbed incredibly well into the skin and immediately stops your skin from feeling tight, as it sometimes can, especially after showering. It is very hard to tell that you're even wearing a moisturiser - it doesn't feel heavy or greasy on your face at all, and instead leaves it feeling soft.
This is an absolutely great base for make up. The difference in the appearance of my make up after using this moisturiser and cheaper alternatives is unreal. My make up doesn't 'slide around' on my face with this product and instead stays put throughout the day. The colour of my make up is more accentuated and I feel that my skin looks clearer.
It is recommended that you use this product twice a day, and I use it in the morning after showering and at night just before bed. I also find that it's great to use a tiny bit of this product as a 'top-up' during the day, especially during winter months when skin can become dry.
It is safe to say that this is by far the best moisturiser I have ever used. As with the other Clinique products that I have recently bought, it is a little pricey, but in the long run, it is so worth it. It lasts forever (I have had my bottle of it for around 4 months and it is not even half empty), and really does make a dramatic difference. I am absolutely delighted with this product, and would highly recommend that you make the wise decision to invest in a bottle of it.
I was not very impressed with Clinique dramatically different moisturising lotion, it was expensive and not very good value for money. The lotion is very thin and watery which I did not like and although it does sink into your skin very nicely, my skin never really felt very moisturised after using it. The smell of the lotion was not really to my taste, it was not very strong but was powdery and I was not very keen. I do get dry skin on my face and this was not the best moisturiser for my skin type. I think that for the price of this product I would expect much better results, the only difference I noticed in my skin was that I felt it needed moisturising more often and I was using more and more of the product to try to get the desired result. If you are considering using this product then I would recommend visiting a Clinique skin are counter before hand to make sure that the product is suitable for your skin type.
This bottle is not particularly pretty. Well, having said that, I cannot honestly say that any of Clinique's line is anywhere near 'pretty' in packaging. But that's not really what you pay for. You pay for the content because that's what the real deal is all about. Granted, I'll give them credit about the improved pump - it's obviously more hygienic, which can't be bad.
Inside this bottle is a pale yellow cream, which is light and watery that it will slowly drip on slanted surface. It's not sticky or heavy in any way in terms of the after feel but moisturises the skin like concentrated water. It also absorbs very well; just a slight rub is pretty much all you will need for this lotion to soak in. This lotion also seems to soften the skin somewhat.
Being a lotion, this has slight oil content. It's not so much that you'll find your face shining with a layer of oil; it's the necessary amount of oil which shouldn't cause any problem for the user. However, if you already have oily skin and are very particular about the oil content of your lotion, opt for the gel type, which is lighter, instead of this lotion.
I use this lotion at night just before I go to bed. I wake up to find my skin soft to the touch and moisturised. My face used to be quite dry just after washing, but this lotion seem to have improved this also which I am very happy about.
The only issue with this lotion would be its fragrance. Clinique prides itself in the 'no fragrance' policy. This doesn't mean that the lotion has no smell, it just simply means that Clinique didn't add any additional scent. Which serves to mean that you will end up smelling the original scent of its ingredient. And sadly, the fragrance of the original ingredients is not nice. It's this bitter medicinal / herbal scent that nobody would be 100% happy to put on their face. Although it doesn't linger much and flies off, and although it kinda became the signature scent for this dramatic lotion, I would rather Clinique just add something that smells nice. Really.
I would recommend this cream for those with dry / normal skin. Oily and combination skin, please look at the gel type.
I received my Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion from Clinique as one of two free samples by way of saying thank you for buying something from Clinique. It is also a very clever marketing tool enabling you to try out some of their products for free with the obvious hope you will like the product enough to purchase a full sized product in the future.
As a young girl I never bothered with moisturizer, I found with my combination skin it was already oily enough even after washing so I just never bothered. As I started to age, which unfortunately happens to us all, I found my skin started to change. I can now wash my face and within minutes it feels all dry and most definately requires a good moisturiser which I can trust and also use confidently as a make-up base.
The sample of the moisturiser I received was small but strangely enough lasted far longer than I expected, some four weeks! Thus enabling me a real good chance at sampling the product. It did not come with a pump dispenser however the rest of the packaging is the same, glass bottle with the brand name clearly marked upon the front of the bottle and product type.
As with all moisturisers you expect it to moisturise your skin, well this did but, with bells on. A little really does go a long way so apply a little at a time. It has a very nice fragrance which can only be described as delicate and feminine and has the texture of a good yoghurt. It is a pale yellow in colour and is therefore clear to where you are placing the product ie not in your hair! It is very easily absorbed into the skin and instantly your skin feels softer, healthier looking and more plumped up in appearance and appears more hydrated. It works very well as a make-up base as long as you don't over apply the moisturiser otherwise your foundation will not sit properly and your make-up will appear too dewy.
The effects of the moisturiser are long lasting and your skin will feel hydrated for the days entirity or until you wash your face. The contents of the product are delicate enough for you to use on your whole face including your eye area. Clinique suggests using the product twice a day on your face and neck for optimal results.
Overall I have been very impressed. My skin loves it and it is suitable for all skin types including very dry, dry, combination and oily. As with all good products you get what you pay for and this is the bit that hurts, the price. It is expensive and yes there are much cheaper alternative products on the market but do they work as well? no. You can purchase the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion in two types, one with a pump top and one with a screw top lid. My sample came with the screw top lid and I have recently purchased the biggest pot with the pump top. The pump works very effectively with very little effort and has not clogged once. The price for the moisturizer with the pump top is slightly more and comes down to personal choice. As always you can purchase all Clinique products from good department stores or on-line at Clinique.co.uk where you can also receive two free samples with your purchase, however much you spend.
125ml - £26.43 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with pump dispenser.
100ml - £21.14 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with pump dispenser.
50ml - £14.68 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with screw top.
125ml - £25.45 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with screw top.
If you are looking for a good moisturizer that will fit easily into your skin care regime then look no further than Cliniques Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I have absolutely no hesitaion in recommending it to everybody, even you men!
Thanks for reading.
Who will like this product:
Those looking for a good moisturiser to add to their skincare routine.
Where to find it:
Most department stores have a Clinique counter. I reccommend going to your nearest department stores Clinique counter and requesting a sample just to ensure this product is compatible with your skin. however, Clinique make every effort to product hypo-allerginic and fragrance-free products, which benefits most skin types.
What it cost:
£20+ which is quite expensive. I'd suggest that you look out for deals at your nearest Clinique counter, for example, Clinique has some brilliant seasonal offers, called 'Bonus Time.' Which can mean money off or my fav, free products with your purchase. this is a great way to familiarise yourself with the clinique range before you buy.
Why I chose it:
My skin was, as i would call combination; dry cheeks, oily t-zone and enlarged pores prone to spots. I was on the lookout for some products to combat my skin woes. I started using the clinique three steps (clinique cleanser, followed by Toner and the the moisturizing lotion) and the condition of my skin improved within the week.
How to use it:
Works to improve skin's texture and condition afte cleansing and clarifying. apply twice a day to face and throat all over where needed.
What its like:
It ensures that my skin is in tip top condition and will look fantastic without the use of makeup. Having said that, this moisturiser provides a brilliant base for all types of makeup, without making your foundation appear greasy, as some moisturisers can.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion has deffinatly improved the condition of my skin.
I use this as part of Clinique's 3 step skincare routine! I only really got into Clinique last year, and i honestly don't know how i ever managed without this moisturiser!
I LOVE this moisturizer!! I have honestly never had a moisturiser that I was happy with, but after trying this one out, I doubt I'll switch to anything else now!
It's nice and light but also sinks in (which is great, because I hate moisturisers that take ages to sink in) and makes my skin feel really comfortable. It's basic, it's soothing and does not break me out which is amazing since everything seems to break me out.
I would certainly recommend this to anyone with dry/combination skin based soley on the fact that i personally know many people who rave about this product.
Only downside is that it has no spf!
personally like the smell, however I can see why some may not be too keen, as all Clinique products are fragrance-free.
Clinique counters always have samples of these on hand, so if you want to "try before you buy", this is the best way of deciding whether this is right for you!
A year later, and i am still using this product, not the same bottle of course!
My skin hasn't became resiliant to it at all, and it leaves my skin feeling as great as it did when i first used it!
I simply do not know where I would be without this. All I know is it wouldn't b a good look. I find this product so refreshing and it really is 'dramtically different'.
This product is absolutely superb for when you get out of the shower and yor skin feels tight. The effect is instant.
The smellof the product is very mild which I like as some perfume smells make me feel ill. The product is not greasy at all and leave your skin looking glorious.
It can be quite pricy for a full size product but you can pick this up on special offer at many times throughout the year as it is one of cliniques best sellers.
I would definately recommend the moisturising lotion rather than the gel as the lotion is thicker and has a more dramatic effect. I would also recommend the pump and with the bottle the neck cn become very messy toward the end of the bottle. The nly downfall with this is with the pump there is always some left in the bottom, and trust me you do not want to waste any of this!
