Clinique Gentle Exfoliator
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
I cannot afford to treat myself to Clinique products and so whenever it's my birthday or an event I am treated to a variety of these products as I do really like them but just cannot justify spending so much on 'luxury' items (not when there are grandchildren to treat!) This exfoliator was bought for me recently and it's lovely!
I am terrible at sticking to a beauty regime though and often forget to use it, ideally we should exfoliate every day and this process removes dead skin cells and helps the skin to repair itself. Exfoliating cleans your skin and helps it to shine in a healthy way. It should be part of a daily skin care routine. I tend to use this about four times a week.
What I have found with other exfoliators is that they can be quite harsh on the skin. The little granuals inside the product can grate on my skin so much that it's actually quite an uncomfortable product to use and causes my skin to look quite red after use so I do need something more gentle.
This one from Clinique is very gentle indeed. The particles inside it are hard yes but there are less of them than in other products and not quite as rough which made me wonder if it would actually work as you do need quite a bit of roughness for it to be able to actually do it's job.
The cream itself is a peachy colour which is nice and was a surprise. I was expecting it to be white like most facial creams. The fact it's peach doesn't mean it will 'stain' your skin, it does rinse off and doesn't leave a colour behind so it won't effect how you apply your make up.
I find that I need to use quite a bit of this each time mainly because it is quite sparse in the amount of particles in it and I feel that if I didn't use enough then it wouldn't work and also because it soaks into the skin quite quickly so it's hard to spread it around.
It takes a while to rinse off which I find is the case with all exfoliators but once removed it does leave my skin feeling so much more healthy and it feels very smooth to touch. I am very pleased with the result from this product even though it is so gentle is has the same outcome as other moisturising exfoliators and it doesn't cause any irritation like others do so it's great.
It costs £17 which is more than I can afford and perhaps slightly over expensive even for this brand as I do think it has a few negatives too. So in my opinion it's good for the skin but because you do have to use quite a bit it isn't very good value for money. 4 stars from me!
