I love Clinique make up. It is quite expensive so I normally treat myself when it is on offer. A couple of times a year they do an offer which involves buying two products (one being skincare) and getting a beauty bag with loads of free products in. I like it because it gives me access to a lot of products which I can trial and see if I like them. Expensive make up works out much cheaper that way. I needed a new foundation and the lady behind the counter recommended me this one once I had under gone a small trial with her.
Price and availability:
You can purchase this product from Clinique skin counters all over the UK. Counters are located in a lot of department stores, including John Lewis, Debenhams, House of Fraser and also in lots of the larger Boots stores. It is priced around £23. If you are buying it on the internet, make sure the site is reputable as it is easy to come across fakes.
Although I have been calling this product a foundation, it is actually a tinted moisturiser. To some people it does the same job, to others it is very different. The product comes in an almost oval squeezy container with a screw on and off lid. The lid is really secure, which is good as it is awful when make up leaks in your make up bag. To apply the make up I squeeze a small amount onto the back of my hand (a small amount really is the key, you can build up more later if you want, but it is best not to waste any by squeezing out too much). Then I use a brush to rub it into my face. The key is to rub it in, so it really blends with your face and is absorbed really well into the skin to give you the perfect colour match and the most natural finish. You can use your fingers if you wish but I find a good quality brush gives a much nicer finish.
The product is really nice and moist, so it gives your skin a fabulous dewy glow, which is really hard to get with any other products. It doesn't make your skin look dry at all, and doesn't cling to dry skin patches or spots. It evens out colour and gives moderate coverage to different patches to give a reasonably even skin tone.
It does not act like some kind of full face cover, like thicker, heavier foundations, so if that is what you are after then this is not the right product for you. If you want a lighter, more natural appearance then this is the foundation for you. It is worth noting, that unlike a lot of tinted moisturiser, this is not greasy at all, and does not feel like it is going to slide off your face.
A really good foundation, for a really good price, if full face matte cover is NOT what you are looking for.
This product has become the key product in my make up bag and I would not go without it! I used to wear the redness solution foundation everyday which I do still wear on nights out or if my skin needs a bit more of a perk up however for everday use this is a fantastic lightweight product. I don't like the feel of heavy make up on my skin but this tinted moisturiser is so light and importantly it still provides adequate coverage for blemishes. I'm quite lucky to have fairly good skin and this is a much healthier product for it! It really makes your skin glow and look healthy. If you do suffer from more of an uneven complexion, you may still want to apply some extra cover as it is fairly light. It is quite expensive but the pot will last me 6 weeks and it is absolutely worth it and for me it has replaced my foundation on the whole, I use an alternative moisturiser at night.
I bought this recently from my local clinique counter and i got the lightest shade. The shades of this are quite limited so if youre inbetween shades, go for the lighter of the two because it develops as slightly darker than the indicated colour. This was pricey at £21 but when i applied it i sooon realised it was well and truly worth every penny. I bought it because im going on a big holiday next year and wanted to try a load of different types of foundation and coverage prior to going, so thought this tinted moisturiser would be ideal for daytime.
I found the easiest way to apply this is with your fingers, or even a buffing brush would do, the product glides on with an almost gel like consistency and it feels cool and light on your skin. When i saw the colour, i was really impressed, the coverage is dewy and glowy with just the right amount of coverage to hide any blemishes.
As the day went on, the product stayed the same which is unheard of for me because i tend to touch my face a lot. I was really impressed by this, not once did my skin feel greasy or oily, i felt cool and refreshed and i will definitely be buying more of this. Great buy!
I usually wear foundation most days (Estee Lauder Double Wear is my favourite), but I like to have a bottle of tinted moisturiser in my makeup bag for those days when I just want to put something on quickly to brighten up my complexion but don't need full makeup. I absolutely love the Clinique Moisture Surge moisturiser, so I thought the Moisture Surge tinted moisturiser would definitely be worth a try. I bought this from Boots around Christmas time and it costs £21.50.
=== Packaging ===
The tinted moisturiser comes in a simple peachy pink plastic bottle with a silver lid. It contains 30 ml. I think the plastic bottle makes it look cheaper than a foundation in a glass bottle, but this doesn't bother me at all in this case, because it is practical. I like the fact it is a lightweight plastic with no risk of breaking because I like to take this with me when travelling or sometimes take it in my gym bag to put on after swimming when I need to freshen up but can't be bothered to put a full face of makeup on. The opening of the bottle is quite thin, so it is easy to squeeze a small bit out and you don't risk squirting out too much and wasting it.
=== Application ===
I find that the best way to apply this tinted moisturiser is with my fingers and to rub it straight into my bare skin after cleansing and moisturising. It blends in extremely easily, seeming to melt effortlessly into the skin. I don't need to use a huge amount as a little goes a long way and it is easy to blend it over to cover a larger area.
A few times I have also tried applying this with a brush, as I figure that a tinted moisturiser is basically just a light foundation, and I use a brush to put my foundation on. However for some reason I really find it looks a lot better when rubbed in with fingers. The brush makes it look a bit less natural in my opinion. I have also tried it with primer underneath and this also looked a little bit strange - I think because the tinted moisturiser is meant to slightly sink into the skin, and primer puts a barrier up, making it rest on the top. It does feel somewhat moisturising if I put it directly on my skin, but I wouldn't forgo a proper moisturiser and use only this. I definitely see this as makeup rather than a moisturiser.
As with all Clinique products, this is hypoallergenic and it has not irritated my skin at all. I can be quite sensitive and sometimes I do get reactions to the odd product which makes my skin red or brings me out in bumps. I have never suffered anything like that from any Clinique product, which is one of the reasons why I love this brand.
=== Wear ===
This Moisture Surge tinted moisturiser gives a very natural look, evening out the complexion and giving a slightly dewy finish which provides a healthy glow. I am normally wary of anything with a dewy finish as my skin can get oily and dewy products can slide off or make my skin look greasy. However I am pleased to report I have not really had any of that sort of problem with this. It is oil free and doesn't cause my skin to get oilier. Clinique state it is suitable for all skin types, which means anything from very dry (Clinique type 1) to very oily (Clinique type 4). I am a Clinique type 3 so I did trust that it would be fine for me.
It stays on quite well throughout the day, although it is definitely not as transfer resistant as my normal foundation. I find that if I have a cold and am using a lot of tissues, the tissues will end up rubbing away the tinted moisturiser from around my nose or eyes, or wherever I am using them. If I wear this all day I do have to retouch it a bit if I want it perfect in the evening.
It is great for a simple, clean and natural look. It is definitely not obvious that you are wearing makeup so I would recommend it to anyone who likes the no makeup look, but just wants their skin to look a bit more awake and brighter. It would be ideal for any teenage girls who are not allowed to wear makeup at school but don't want to go in with a bare pasty face!
I am really pleased with the results I can get from this, as it seems to immediately wake up my skin and make me look healthier even if I get up looking exhausted. It is not particularly full coverage so if you have any blemishes you would need to put concealer on them as the tinted moisturiser may not be enough. I do need to put a bit of undereye concealer on with this, as the tinted moisturiser alone won't completely erase dark circles.
It is also worth mentioning it has SPF 15 so does give a bit of sun protection. SPF 15 is enough for me most of the time. I would only need something higher if it is really hot or I am on holiday.

This comes in six shades and I use shade 1, the palest. It is a good colour match for me and I think it seems to have slightly more of a pink base than a yellow base.
You can buy this from Clinique's website or from shops such as Boots, House of Fraser, Debenhams, John Lewis or other department stores with Clinique counters.
Don't forget that it's best to buy during a Clinique Bonus Time event as they give out really nice goodie bags with 6 or 7 good sized miniatures products when you buy 2 things. I love Bonus Time and I always wait for it if I need to buy something from Clinique!
===Over all ===
This is a great product which comes in handy when I want something quick to use and it gives great results. As I don't use it every day, I still have some left in my bottle which I bought about 7 months ago, so I consider it good value as it has lasted well.
