I have massive unsightly pores on my nose and in a desperate attempt to improve them I saved up some cash and took myself off to the Clinique counter to find some solutions. Clinique was my favourite beauty brand already thanks to their allergy tested status, so I didn't even consider any other options.
The Pore Minimizer Refining Serum (horrible American spelling!) is supposed to reduce the size of your pores and leave your skin looking smooth and shine free. Apply after cleansing, toning and moisturising.
I did this diligently, twice a day (well, twice most days) for a good month or so and unfortunately I saw no improvement at all in my pores. I was so disappointed. This was the first time I'd bought a Clinque product that didn't work for me. Other folks seem to have had better luck, so maybe my enlarged pores were just too much of a challenge.
As far as I can tell this product is no longer part of the Clinique range. They seem to have updated it. I don't know how similar the new one in the Refining Solutions range is. I'd like to try that one too, but won't pay full price. Perhaps I'll get some in a free gift next time Bonus Time is on.
You can still pick this one up on Ebay really quite cheaply, so it might be worth a try if your pores aren't gigantic craters.
I have always hada problem with open or obvious pores. I needed something that was like a make up version of putty to fill those pesky large pores, but which wasn't going to clog them and cause breakouts. Thank goodness I found this!
It comes in a handy little tube so there's no mess or waste when it comes to the end of the product, however, no matter how useful and efficient the tube is, it IS small. For the cost (I paid £15) you would expect something a little bigger. I know you're not supposed to use too much as it is for small areas as a sort of touch up aid, but it would be better if you got a little more for your money. Saying that, I can't live without it so I'd probably pay the same for half as much. It goes on so so smoothly and is a non-glossycream that adds no extra shine to your face. It gives a great matt base to add your foundation upon, and it just 'fills' your open pores brilliantly.
I highly recommend this product for faces with open pores and blackheads (it seems to almost blank them out!), just try to use it sparingly to avoid buying a new one every other week! Perhaps they should make an all-over-the-face larger one??
Although there exists a Clinique Men's range, I find a lot of their products too alcohol heavy and sometimes the Ladies' range can be better for the skin. I suffer from pores, big nasty ugly craters which sit above my nose and just under the eyes. I have skin which goes from being from oily to dry so trying to find products for my skin is a nightmare. I have been through so many serums!
The Clinique Pore Minimizer Serum is designed to help reduce the appearance of pores and even skin tone. It does this by refining the sin's surface and gently helping to break down the skin cells to promote healthier skin from within. A serum is lighter than a moisturiser and I find you need less. I used a pea sized amount of this and dabbed it gently into the t-zone. The serum is light and airy and is easily absorbed into the skin. It does not so much camouflage the skin, but it sinks into the skin and helps offer a more refined feel straight away.
Over several uses I noticed that there was less pore visibility on the forehead and around the nose area, though I would not say that the pores shrunk dramatically. Over time, serums are more effective and they have the chance to battle the skin. A serum can take up to a month or so to have any significant effects, so maybe I shall persevere more. The tricky bit is remembering to keep up with the regime and it is all too easy to let it slide.
On the downside, Clinique's products come in rather dear and this one can cost around sixteen pounds for a little tube of 40ml. Shop online to get offers, this is worth trying and did make some difference for me, but not enough for me to go head over heels for it.
I have for some time suffered from large pores and love wearing make up but always find on the end of my nose and on my forehead between my eyes my pores show quite bad once my make up is applied. So I wanted something to try and minimise them.
I went for Clinique as it is a well know brand and I thought such a big known brand should mean the product works.
The refining serum comes in a 40ml plastic pink tube with the big Clinique C logo on and on the back it tells you how to apply the product, twice a day after cleansing, toning and moisturising. The lid is a silver screw lid.
What the product claims:
Clinique claim that their serum helps to leave the skin smooth and shine free and that it will reduce the look of pores.
I purchased my tube from Boots and it was £16 for a 40ml tube. The tube states you can keep the product 24 months after opening before you need to dispose of any left overs....
I find the cream to be of a nice consistent...it wasn't too runny, after rubbing the cream into my skin it was left feeling very smooth and was left shine free. I do find though that it is not fragrance free. To me there is a very light but pleasant scent to it. Almost straight away I see a difference in the size of my pores. What I tend to do is dab a little on rub it in and then apply another small amount and rub that in and my pores do look smaller. On some occasions after applying the serum I have found it hard to apply my makeup....I don't know if I am putting too much product on or if I'm not leaving a long enough gap in between applying the serum and then my make up, but I'm sure it's just me!! It is allergy tested so anyone with problem skin or allegies should be fine using this.
It definitely does make my pores appear smaller and it does stop the shine I normally get by afternoon time. It leaves your skin lovely and soft. Would be great if the product was a little cheaper though!!
I am someone who has alwasy suffered with spot prone oily skin, especially around my t-zone area, and have suffered with acne. This has left me with large open pores across my t-zone and i have tried loads of treatments to try and smallen them, and then one day a friend suggested i try cliniques pore minimizer refining serum. At first i was really pleased with the results and still am because it closed my pores up effectively and now i only have to use it three times a week when they begin to open up again. The only problem i have found with this product is that if you apply it in the morning before i apply my make up. When i then do apply make up it can make my foundation become flaky and not last as long.
This product is also quite expensive but it is worth it because you don't need to apply it everyday so the tube lasts a while.
I bought this product based on the reviews that I had read on dooyoo, as all seemed to be really positive. Like most of the other ladies who have used this product, I have oily and spot prone skin. I suffered badly with acne when I was younger, and now have very large, open pores.
My high hopes were pretty much dashed on first use. Whether I was hoping for a miracle cure, and this simply did not live up to that, I'm not sure. Although the product does provide a good base for make up, and makes skin feel soft to the touch and smooth, I didn't think it made a jot of difference to my pores, which, after all, is why I bought the serum.
Consequently, I have only used the product a handful of times, more out of desperation than anything, and overall I think it was not what I would have hoped for from an expensive (circa £15) product.
I have since had both Soap and Glory's, and Estee Lauder's pore minimiser recommended to me, and I think next time I will definitely try one of these first.
I am an 'older reviewer'' and after years of trying various 'treatments' for open/large pores know Clinique is the best, certainly for my skin, both when I was younger AND now. It does what it says, is easy to apply and you can put it OVER your make up too. Handy size, price great as you use only as little each day. Clinique has the edge over all the other cosmetic houses for their pore reducing/disguising products as far as I am concerned.
You only need a tiny bit of this product to cover up your pores (in this case, the more the worse since it would simply just hover on the skin and look unnatural), so it actually is a relief that it comes in a cute tube (approximately 10.5cm in length) that you can easily carry around. The design of the tube is simple as always, no fuss there.
I couldn't detect any significant scent for this product; perhaps a faint scent reminiscent of their foundations? But I suppose you could safely say that it doesn't have much scent at all.
This serum has a very interesting texture; it's hard to describe but I would say it's rather moussy that also feels somehow crunchy at the same time, if that makes sense at all.
This product is certainly long lasting - if you're a perfectionist striving for the perfect flawless skin, you may wish to maybe touch up in the evening but otherwise, the morning application will last pretty much the whole day.
This serum is oil-free and without doubt lives up to that description.
The best thing about this serum is not that it camouflages the pores (that's a given) but that it does so instantly. Yes, the moment you apply it, you won't see your pores anymore. I mean it.
Make sure to apply a very small amount several times instead of the whole thing in one go as it may result in your skin looking unnatural and blotchy.
I have blemish prone skin, which can often become too oily or too dry depending on it's mood. I have large pores mainly on my nose, and I was looking for a pore minimizing product for quite sometime.

I opted for the Clinique Pore Minimizer Refining Serum after using their anti-blemish solutions range, which has worked wonders on my skin. The packaging states, 'Reduces the look of pores. Leaves skin looking smooth, shine-free. Apply twice a day after 3-Step.' Great! I thought, just what I was looking fo.
I use this product on a morning after cleansing, then using the clinique anti-blemish clarifying lotion and moisturiser. I apply a small bit to the problem areas, then apply my make up. It isn't greasy or oily and rubs in very well. I also apply it on an evening, again after doing my cleansing routine.
I spoke to the Clinique sales advisor before I purchased this and she warned me not to expect anything too soon as this stuff can take a while to gradually build up pore walls. Unofrtunately I can be quite forgetful and have forgotten to use this on many occasions. However I have noticed my pores becoming smaller, ever so slightly. I will continue to use this product as it isn't greasy and you don't have to use too much of it, so it's worth the price as it is quite a big tube!
This is a really handy little product which can finish off your makeup perfectly and at around £15 it is not too expensive. I do not use it everyday but it is invaluable for special occasions or evenings out. Normally when I do take the time to put it on people tell me how well I am looking and how clear my skin is.
I have always had rather bumpy skin prone to shine but this stuff does a good job of hiding it when it counts. I use it more like a makeup primer, using just the tiniest blob on the problem areas, it has a really nice soft feel to it. I then apply my makeup over the top ( I have found it works really well under mineral makeup, helping it stay on well and give better coverage). It then stays put all day and my normally slightly oily feeling face feels nice and fresh and I look less shiny in photographs too. Result!
Brilliant product! I've always suffered from really oily skin, with large pores and also having to use afro hair products (which are basically pure grease!) meant that i didnt stand a chance. I've used many products over the years from face washes to oil control moisturisers and various lotions and potions but this is the only one i found which really worked! Its comes out as a whitish cream and you literally only use the smallest dot and it really spreads, so the product lasts forever. It rubs in really easily, becomes totally clear and then your skin appears almost flawless and remains totally matt all day! Somehow it manages to almost completely hide large pores as well. You can put it on over or underneath make up as well and it doesnt affect the application. Its almost has a powdery finish but it doesnt clog your pores and make it all worse!
