Advantages: Skin feels wonderfully clean, fresh and smooth after use.
Disadvantages: I have knocked off a star because of the price.
I have a rule of trying to only buy Clinique products when they have a free gift on, which is quite a lot of the time. In these free gifts the Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser seems to frequently make an appearance, and I always seem to have a little tube of this stuff stashed away.
Clinique promotes their 3 step system which admittedly isn't very unique, however it encourages people to cleanse, tone and moisturise and has products aimed at your specific skin type. This foaming cleanser is to be used as step one and is suitable for all skin types. Clinique state this cleanser will remove make-up and sunscreen quickly and gently leaving skin feeling moist, clean and fresh. I usually use a cream cleanser on a morning, and usually a facial scrub on an evening, and in the past I often avoided anything with the words 'foaming' in it as it usually means the product will be very drying on the skin. I have oily skin and products which dry my skin out are awful as they tend to make my skin even oilier in the long run. Despite these pre conceptions I did decide to start using this one from Clinique as I love Clinique products and I was hoping it wouldn't be as bad as I thought.
So this foaming cleanser usually comes in a 150ml tube however I always have the smaller 50ml ones. They do last a long time though, and this is because you only need to apply a small amount. The cleanser is a pale pink colour and I always use just a pea sized amount onto my finger, before I start rubbing this onto my face. I love the feel of this cleanser; it's thick, creamy and foams up wonderfully. The thick creamy texture really feels gentle on the skin, and I was worried a foaming cleanser would be quite harsh and would dry the skin out. It foams up nicely over the skin, and I usually apply another small pea sized amount for my forehead. As the product name suggests, you then simply rinse it off. It doesn't require much to wipe it all away, and I am always left with great results.
My skin doesn't feel dry afterwards and instead it feels wonderfully clean, fresh and smooth. It's great to use at the end of the day to remove makeup as it really does get rid of makeup so well, and at the same time it's not too harsh on the skin. However, I don't have sensitive skin so I can't comment too much on how 'gentle' it is but for people with oily skin types like me, this isn't very drying at all. It does a brilliant job of removing makeup, excess oil and dirt and grime and is a brilliant first step in the 3 step routine. I always follow up afterwards with a Clinique clarifying lotion and moisturiser for even better results.
I've been using this every morning for a few weeks now and I have noticed a difference with my skin. I am prone to blemishes and I believe this cleanser has really helped as recently my skin has appeared much clearer than usual, something which was noted by a work colleague too. If you fancy giving this cleanser a try then it costs £14.50 for 150ml, which is expensive! I would recommend having a look on eBay for the 50ml size which usually costs between £2-3 and means you aren't shelling out for a full size tube when you haven't tried it out. The 50ml size I use usually lasts me at least a month, being used around once a day so it probably is great value for money buying the larger size. Overall I recommend this foaming cleanser, especially if you are wanting clean and fresh feeling skin!
Summary: A great foaming cleanser which doesn't dry out skin.
