Clinique Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser
Advantages: Removes all trace of oil, dirt and make up from the face
Disadvantages: Leaves your skin feeling tight and dry
The Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser by Clinique is a facial cleanser that promises to remove all signs of dirt, oil and grime from the skin, including make up, leaving it looking and feeling fresh and clean. It has been allergy tested and it is 100% fragrance free. The product has been specifically designed for those with normal skin.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied to damp skin so you need to splash your face with water first. You need to squeeze a small amount of the product on to wet hands and then massage it into the face, taking care to avoid the eyes. Once that is done, you need to rinse off the product thoroughly and pat the skin dry. It can be used morning and night.
Packaging and price
The product comes contained within packaging that is typical of Clinique. It is contained within a frosty plastic tube which is partly see through and you can see the apparent pale pink product inside. There is limited information on the bottle about that product. It has a pale green plastic flip top lid on which the product can stand so it looks neat and tidy in your bathroom. The product is easy to squeeze from the tube because of the flexible plastic and it's easy to control the amount that is released.
The product will cost you around £12 and for that money, you will receive 75ml of the face wash. It is available from the Clinique counter in large department stores and also from a variety of online websites so if you shop around, you may find it for cheaper.
Once dispensed, you can see the product is actually a pearlescent white colour. Its consistency is extremely thick and it has the appearance of whipped cream and it actually looks really pretty, as face washes go!
The product doesn't seem to foam to me. It is already thick and remains thick on the skin but it doesn't foam and so the name 'foaming cleanser' is something of a puzzle.
On the skin, the product feels really silky and it is simple to smooth the product over the skin. It begins to tingle almost instantly which feels very refreshing but after a while it borders on stinging. I have quite sensitive skin so this may not be the case for everyone. It also hurts a lot if you get the product in your eyes so take care with application.
When it's time to rinse off the product, you'll probably find that you need to use a flannel. When I try to remove it with my hands, it takes ages because it's so silky, it seems to stick to your skin so a flannel makes the job faster and easier.
After use, the first thing that I notice is the amount of make up it removes. Sometimes face washes leave me looking like a panda bear, which mascara all down my face. Other face washes leave my face apparently clean but my towels get make up on them when I am drying my skin. Top marks to this cleanser though for removing my make up from my skin and leaving my towels clean.
The tingling continues after the product has been removed and you really do feel fresh and clean. My skin feels smooth and silky to touch but it does also feel very tight. It makes you want to apply moisturiser immediately, Although this is something that I do anyway, I don't like the fact that the cleanser makes my skin feel so dry and tight because it feels like it's been stripped of moisture. The feeling does subside after moisturiser is applied.
The cleanser doesn't cause any blemishes to form on my spot prone skin and it doesn't cause any dry skin to appear, despite the sensation that it gives me. I'm not sure if this product is too strong for my skin so I only tend to use it after a big night out when I have applied my make up with a trowel, rather than using it daily. If you have skin that can handle anything, you should love this. If you have skin that can't cope with lots of creams, lotions and potions then you might find that this is too strong. Either way, it will definitely get you skin clean.
Summary: A facial cleanser which removes all signs of dirt
