Clinique Self Sun Body Tinted Lotion
Advantages: the best fake tan around, fairly priced.
Disadvantages: would prefer a pump.
I was very lucky as I had the chance to test it before I bought it. My mum had some of the stuff and she told me to put some on my legs (this is back when I used to show my legs) and I refused straight away because I was slightly gothic and didn't like the tanned-up look. I really thought the shade of this was nice so I decided to buy this for myself. I can always remember it being quite expensive. I bought it online and it had to have been about £15, usually I saw fake tans were around £8.
The shade my mum put on me was Medium to Dark, although when I purchased it myself I bought light to medium. The best part about this was I felt that it didn't look fake on me, as most fake tans usually did when I applied them. Although someone who has bought the dark version said that it wasn't dark enough so the brand must be simply the brand only does light self tans.
It comes in a squeasy bottle, and to be honest I would prefer a pump on the bottle as I found that trying to apply it, then touching the bottle, then picking the bottle back up again become very irritating. Also, I felt that when I squeezed it, a too much of the liquid came out at once so sometimes I was just wasting it away.
Because it is tinted, you can actually see where you are applying it so there are no nasty surprises when you wake up and see that a huge patch has been missed. I only used it twice on a night out and this was quite a good few months ago, although I kept it on for three days running each time and I have over 2/3rds of the bottle left which I don't use anymore.
Before you apply it, I would always put on some moisturiser just so that it does spread out evenly. It says that it is fast drying, but as a criticism it was actually very slow at drying. I had it on for about 20 minutes waiting for it to dry and when I put my pajamas on I found there was still some traces of it left on. Although this happens with most fake tans so you can't really complain too much.
The next morning I woke up and it did seem a bit wild and patchy. Although this was before I had showered. After my showered I was very pleased with the result. It was a gorgeous cinnamon colour and it actually looked as if I has caught the sun and I hadn't just sat about with fake tan on all day. Of course some parts of my body seemed lighter than others but I don't think that is the fault of the fake at lotion itself but probably my bad application.
I was very impressed with how will it went over my ankles and hands as this is usually the problem areas when applying fake tan. I think the way it blended with areas I had missed out was what made me love the product so much. All fake-tans that are about £10 are good, and they make you appear tanned without looking orange, although it was just that one trait of the fake tan that made me really impressed with it.
The colour of it is definitely weak so you'll have to apply twice if you want a deeper colour. Although personally I don't see why women like the dark and fake look, I think the natural tint is nice enough.
The fake-tan has no smell whatsoever, so it's a good thing that it doesn't have a bad smell, although sometimes it's nice to have a fake-tan that actually has a good bit of fragrance to it.
I was overall very pleased with the performance of this lotion and although I don't wear it anymore, I would recommend it to others.
Summary: Definetly reccomended.
