Clinique Super Rescue Anti Oxidant. Not so sure why Clinique always name their products with a long hyperbolic name such as 'super rescue' or 'dramatically different'. Not that it would make a lot of difference, but I think it is a little bit too tacky for a product in their class. I mean, they don't need to oversell their product, we know it is good anyway.
This Super Rescue cream for example. It is one of my favourite night cream ever.
I love the packaging. It is simple and elegant like all other Clinique's product, and it is in a tube. I just need to squeeze a little because just a drop will go a long way. The cream is not very thick, but very smooth and glide softly. The cream does feel very light, and absorbed by the skin very quickly, but if you have prepared your skin with Clinique's three step, cleanse exfoliate moisturise products, then your skin would be even more receptive to this night cream.
It is fragrance free, the quality that I like the most from Clinique's product. It does not give me any allergic reaction, or triggers break outs. I use it just before I went to bed, and the next day when I woke up my skin feel supple, moisturised, and very well rested. It is like an overnight miracle.
However, this product is definitely an expensive luxury. I would love to repurchase it again, but probably would have to put priorities first.
As I am in my late twenties, I need to look after my skin properly if I am not to age before my time. I have oily skin so I have to be quite choosy about what I put on my skin if I don't want to wake up with a face full of spots. For these reasons I chose the Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturiser by Clinque.
What does the product do?
The product has been designed to prevent premature aging of the skin. The moisturiser is to be used during the night time. It contains eight different antioxidants which remove toxins from the skin that have been left by the sun, pollution etc which would have otherwise aged the face.It also claims to nourish the skin as well as to reverse the signs of aging which may already be showing on the skin. The product is fragrance free and therefore suitable for those with sensitive skin.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied to cleansed skin just before bed time. It is to be applied to the face and neck, and massaged into the skin in the same way that you would use a day moisturiser until it has been fully absorbed. You can then go off to the land of nod and allow the cream to get to work. In the morning, you simply wash your face in the usual way. The product is suitable for nightly use.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a minty green plastic tube which looks cute and classy. Some extra information about the product is included on the tube and it has a silver screw top lid on which the product can stand so it looks neat and tidy on display in your bathroom. The cream will cost you around £35 for 50ml so it doesn't come cheap. It can be bought from any store with a Clinique counter such as Boots, as well as from a variety of online websites.
The main problem that I have had with night cream is that they can be so thick that it leaves my skin feeling greasy and unclean. I was pleasantly suprised to find that this one has the consistency of a lotion instead which is great noise and my skin is oily enough. It smells fresh and clean, so it is quite relaxing on the skin and because it contains no artifical fragrances then the scent must be natural. As the product is light, it means that the cream is absorbed quickly so you don't have to take ages ensuring that it has all been rubbed in. It doesn't leave a greasy residue on the surface of my skin and I can lie down on my silky pillows quite quickly after I've used the product and it doesn't leave any stains or marks on them. The cream feels gentle on my skin and it hasn't caused any irritations or discomfort when I apply it to my skin.
The product does leave my skin feeling really soft and smooth, immediately after application. It makes my skin look healthier and it is in a better condition. I obviously can't tell if it is actually removing toxins from skin but I guess it would be false advertising if it didn't. My skin does look brighter and in a better condition in the morning however, and my face doesn't look shiny and oily when I wake up. It hydrates my face well and it hasn't caused me to develop any blemishes.
All in all, I am really happy with this cream. It is perfect for those with oily skin and it makes my skin feel really softer and smooth, and look much brighter and healthier. It feel light on my face and is quickly absorbed so you can lie on your pillow straight away. If you don't have oily skin, then there are versions of this cream available for combination to dry skin and also for dry to very dry. I would happily recommend this product to anyone. It's only a shame about the price
I am quite a fan of Clinique products (I have yet to find one I am not happy with) and recently decided to splurge out on what I would expect to be a fantastic night cream. Clinique super rescue comes in a 50ml tube and will set you back £35. Rather hefty for a cream I thought but having used cheaper brands in the past and not thought very much of them (especially soap and glory facial skincare which I find absolutely awful) I thought I would spend more than usual with the expectation of far better results.
=== Availability ===
As with all other Clinique products you can find this in independent stores, the usual department stores like Debenhams and House of Fraser, and also in larger boot stores. This night moisturiser is available for various skin types : dry combination, dry to very dry, and combination oily. I personally use the dry combination version.
=== The packaging ===
As with most Clinique products, this comes in your typical green packaging along with some silver. Personally I like the look of this and feel that it does look more expensive and more luxurious than some other cheaper brands. The lid is screw on and the tube is very flexible. This is great as it is very easy to control how much is used which I think is extremely important considering the cost of this cream - I certainly don't want to waste any! There is basic info on the front - branding and the skin type of the particular cream. On the back is the usual blurb of claims of the product and also the usual statement of it being allergy tested and 100% fragrance free as all Clinique is. The only think I am not quite so keen on with this packaging is that you can't see how much product is left in the tube, although obviously the weight is a good indicator.
===Why I bought this product ===
As I have mentioned I wanted a night cream and as I have always had good experiences with Clinique and their staff I went to my local store and asked the consultant what I should be using and was recommended the super rescue antioxidant night moisturiser. She said this was a brilliant one to use as it helps to protect against the signs of ageing and steadily works overnight so that when you wake up the next morning you will have soft, supple and smooth skin. The blurb on the back of my tube states that ' no matter how well you protect your skin, sun, stress and pollution bring daily visible damage. Now a potent moisturiser works to help your skin neutralize this free - radical activity for hours with a unique complex of eight rapid and delayed action antioxidants '. I don't know a great deal about free radicals other than they are not supposed to be brilliant for your skin. To be quite honest I am not all that interested in the science behind a product, I just want to know whether it works or not.
=== So does it work? ===
Although this product is technically fragrance free it does have a definite smell to it which I can't really describe other than to say it is not pleasant nor unpleasant, it's just kind of there. The consistency is brilliant. I have found that some night creams are very thick which puts me off using them a little bit as surely something that heavy can't be great for your skin, especially young skin like mine. The moisturiser is very creamy and not oily at all and feels like a great finisher to my skin routine before I go to bed.
When I use this, I apply a very small amount of this product for two main reasons - firstly you really don't need to use a great deal to cover your face, and secondly when it is so expensive I am going to make sure that it lasts! I apply this after my usual routine of 3 step and I think this prepares my skin well and makes sure that this moisturiser goes even further. You apply this moisturiser like any other and just ensure that you avoid the eye area.
When I wake up in the morning I can definitely feel its effects on my skin which I don't think I have ever experienced with any other night cream before. My skin feels and looks healthy, soft, supple and very smooth. Does just what it says on the tube!
Although this is a night moisturiser I have on occasion also used it as a base for my make-up and I have to say it did this job very well ensuring that my foundation went on very smoothly. A fantastic product all round.
=== Value for money and would I buy this again/recommend? ===
I think that although this is a very expensive product it does work and as you don't need to use a lot of product it should last for some time, making it relatively good value for money. I have been using mine for quite some time now (although admittedly I don't use it every day) and can see it lasting for a couple more months considering how often I use it. I would recommend this moisturiser to anybody who wants soft, smooth, healthy skin.
Thanks for reading.
When I finished work in the UK I got some fab leaving gifts, including a collection of Clinique products from my PA. I knew she was a fan, and I have friends who swear by them too, but I've never used them before so I was super excited. One of the items was this night moisturiser.
I have a pretty simple skin care routine normally, and tend to use the same anti-aging moisturiser day and night. I have done for 11 years, which I like to think has contributed to my constantly being mistaken for a teenager here (it's either that or the inexplicable lack of children and grand children I should really have accumulated by age 28). However, having the Clinique stuff with me, and knowing it's pricey stuff I didn't want to waste, I decided to use everything as directed, so for a few weeks I have been using their 7 day scrub and, at night, following it with this cream. The first thing I thought when I used it was that although you can use day cream day and night, night cream really is for bed time, and this isn't one I think I'd feel comfortable slapping on in the morning. Straight after it's smoothed in, my skin feels oily, almost as if it's over-moisturised (despite using just a pea-sized amount) but 8 hours of beauty sleep later and this has vanished, leaving me with super soft, perfectly moisturised skin instead. It's a night time investment for beautiful day time skin.
This cream comes in the standard, easily identifiable pale green Clinique tube. It has a downward facing tip, so you don't have to struggle to get the last bits out as they're always dripping downwards. I would always prefer a tube to a tub as it's more hygienic, and you can more easily use less. I noticed the benefit of expensive packaging immediately, as it is just so easy to control how much comes out in one go. With this cream, a little goes a long way so you really don't need huge amounts, and I can get just the right amount (a finger-tip full) with a slight squeeze, and no wastage. The cream is thick and white, and smells as if they've tried to add a floral fragrance to a chemical product to mask the small a bit. It's not unpleasant, but you wouldn't want a bottle of it as perfume.
This product claims to offer additional protection against sun, stress and pollution by delivering a 'unique combination' of 8 rapid and delayed-release antioxidants that will keep skin strong and prevent visible signs of aging). It is fragrance free and alcohol free, and suitable for sensitive skins in general, though if you react badly to Clinique products you might want to test it on a small area first.
Because this is a night cream, it's thicker and creamier than I'm used to. After I apply it, although it sinks in easily I can still feel it on my skin. This is fine as I apply it before bed and then drift off quickly to sleep, but if I was to apply it in the morning and then go about my day, I think it would be too heavy. Conversely, slapping it on at night, the thickness makes it seem like it's simply chocablock with nutrients, all ready to do some 'Super Repair' on your skin over night.
The thing with night time products is that you get your best results some hours later. While my skin might feel heavy, and almost slightly greasy just as I've applied this, by the morning it is baby soft, feels smooth and refined, and is ready for a day of serious sun worshiping. My skin is a lot drier here than at home because of the water and the time I spend in the sun, but this cream has worked a treat for getting it to feel normal again. I felt the difference from day one, and really noticed and felt visible results within the first few days of using it. I've also found that I can skip a day (or, rather, night) and my skin doesn't regress too much, which makes it suitable for alternate use with a cheaper cream, to stretch it out for longer.
In addition to the texture of my skin, this has helped reduce morning puffiness and dark circles, even when I've not drunk quite enough the day before (I don't skimp on water, but somehow 2-3 litres per day here is never enough the amount you sweat off). The environment here is very harsh (a dusty, dirty town with a lot of pollution) and sometimes it can be hard to feel clean. I can scrub my face to within an inch of its life in the shower, but afterwards it really needs a moisture boost, and this is perfect for that. After a day in the sun, my skin just drinks this in. I get dry skin around my nose in the sun, almost similar to the way it gets when I have a cold, and this cream seems to hone in on that to sort it out. I sleep in front of a fan (at least on nights when we have power, that is) and without moisturiser my skin can feel a little dry when I awake. Since using this religiously, I've not had that problem.
My main recommendation would be to apply only the smallest of amounts - when I accidentally squeeze out too much and decide to use it so as not to let it go to waste, I regret it. On one occasion I applied so much that the following morning I felt I really needed to wash it off - like a Clinique cream cleanser - as I still felt it a little 8 hours later. You need a tiny amount of this, and you can always apply more, so I am careful to squeeze out just a small blob at a time.
I am very happy with this cream. In some important areas my skin hasn't changed (I had no breakouts before, and it's not caused any; I had no visible wrinkles before and haven't developed more) and in some equally important areas it has, as my skin now feels smoother, tighter (but not nastily tight) and more moisturised.
This costs about £34 a tube, and comes in various skin types (dry, very dry, combination etc). You can get it from any Clinique stockist, but if you go to Boots they currently have an offer on for 750 extra Advantage card points when you buy 3 or more Clinique products.
As a result of using this, my skin both looks and feels smoother and softer. If you're a Clinique junkie, you'll want to try this one, and even if you're not it's worth a look. It's like the skin version of hair conditioner, and delivers on its claims.
No matter how well you protect your skin, sun, stress and pollution bring daily damage. Now a moisturiser delivers a unique complex of eight rapid and delayed-release antioxidants to defuse this free-radical activity. Helps keep skin looking strong and prevent visible signs of ageing. To use: After 3-Step Skin Care, apply to face and throat. For night time use.
