One thing I really hate is having grubby hands. I bought these wipes for my recent holiday after spotting them on a 3-for-2 offer at Superdrug. They usually sold for £1.09. As a small pack of 15 wipes I figured that they would be enough to last me the week whilst being small enough to pop into a little handbag on days or evenings out. They turned out to be perfect. The pack is a flat packet, which measures about 15cm long x 7cm wide coloured in blue and green with the "Cussons Carex" logo and the word "Refreshing" in largish white letters, obviously the main claim of the wipes. Underneath it states "Soft cleansing wipes for hands, face & body", so these are a "one-stop-shop" for all purposes, and so absolutely ideal for a holiday handbag. On the back of the packet there are three claims: Instant cleansing and refreshment, Dermatologically tested, and Caring enough for childrens skin. The wipes are accessed by peeling back a clear seal which breaks an opening into the packet, revealing the wipes. Once the seal is broken, this can then be opened and resealed and it remained very sticky throughout my use of the pack despite opening and closing with greasy (pre-wipe) or wet (post-wipe) hands. I really liked the wipes - they opened out into a size of about 20cm x 12cm which isn't huge, but big enough for my needs, which were mainly hand washing/wiping and enough for a quick freshen-up. They smelt lovely, a subtle fresh scent which was a little bit appley to me, meaning they are certainly suitable for both sexes. They have a texture which is more like a cloth rather than the more papery feel of "Wet Ones" which I've used in the past. They feel really soft on the skin. The only fiddly part of the design is the actual opening to get the wipes out, which is quite small and sometimes tricky to get a grip on the next wipe to pull it out. This must be difficult to get right in terms of designing the packet, because there needs to be a good area around the opening to enable them to have a big "sticking" area for the seal, to ensure it remains possible to reseal, and to me that's more important, so it's swings and roundabouts I guess. These wipes stayed with me wherever I went on holiday and I used most of the packet, cleaning hands after applying suncream, freshening up and 'washing' hands where toilets may not have had the required facilities to wash with! I totally agree with the refreshing and cleansing claims, and they left no dryness or residue. These will definitely be in my bag for future trips, they were invaluable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warnings & Ingredients: (from the packet) Avoid contact with eyes. Not suitable for use on nappy Area Ingredients: Aqua, Propylene Glycol, PEG-75 Lanolin, Cocamidopropyl, Betaine, Parfum, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1, 3-Diol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Sodium Methylparaben, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, Geraniol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool.
My mum actually gave me these a while ago. Not too sure why, think she has a bit of a shopping addiction, shes always offering cast offs to me! Theyd been shoved in my makeup bag and forgotten about until a recent trip to bournemouth where I'd forgotten my cleansers and toners (I always forget something.) To be honest I'm not the best at taking my makeup off, sometimes i substitute with a baby wipe and sometimes i forget altogether, I've been trying to sort it into a bedtime routine (I dont really have one other than take my pill & take my lenses out) perhaps it'll be a new years resoloution! But with these wipes its not a huge issue! The wipes are for hands, face and body so are a good handbag staple, especially for those hygiene freaks out there. Ive only used them as makeup remover wipes. I doubt they are designed specifically for this but they work just fine, even removing my tough mascara (although i had vaseline which is #1 for removing that if it hadnt worked!) I didnt need to rub hard as they were quite moist and they did leave my skin with a slightly refreshed feeling. Having an 18 month old Im not often out without wet wipes but it should be noted for those with slightly older children that these are stated to be caring enough for childrens skin so perfect if your little ones get grubby. You can get the pack of 15 in tesco for just 80p. While this is reasonable it wouldnt cost you that much more for a pack of baby wipes so unless you were using these as a handbag/travel staple then I would opt for the bigger pack! My pack looks just like the pixture, the design being a mixture of mainly blue and green with the Carex logo clearly on the front.
There is a lot to be said for wet wipes. These come in very handy in so many situations so they are something I always like to have a stock of. The ones I usually buy are these ones, Carex Refreshing Cleansing Wipes. I have been using these for a good few years so I thought I should give them a review. The first time I bought these was when I went on a camping trip. Wet wipes are essential for camping and as the place where we were going didn't have showers a quick wet wipe in the morning was very helpful. I bought a few packets of these and took them with me. The weekend we were away camping was very hot and yet these did not dry out in the tend and as long as they were kept in the packet they stayed fresh and moist. When using them they gave a good clean wipe and felt very refreshing. The smell on these is quite subtle, not overpowering like some other wipes I have used over the years. They are also supposedly moisturising although I'm not sure that's really the case. The fact is though that after using these my skin did not dry out at all. They are easy to use as they come in a neat little packet, when you pull one out it tugs the next out a little bit so it's easy to get a new one. The packet is small and flexible so it's easy to store. Nowadays I tend to have a packet of these in the bathroom and sometimes in the kitchen. They are ideal for a quick wipe of certain areas and feel very nice on the skin. When it comes to hygiene I can't think of many better products as these are clean and simple and after use you simply throw them away. When you talk about price they are usually pretty good value. I usually buy these when they are on offer and you tend to be able to get them for £1. Sometimes they may be a little bit more but they are never really all that expensive, so they are good value as well. Overall then I would say these wipes really do come in handy for many different situations, take them camping, on a picnic, keep some in your car and have them in the bathroom. A very good product that comes in very handy over and over again.
I've got a bit of a hygiene obsession (or OCD as my husband calls it!) and I'm always either washing my hands, or using an anti-bacterial cleansing gel on my hands, or wiping my hands or surfaces with an anti-bacterial wet wipe. I'm not normally too fussy as to which brand of wet wipes that I buy, I'll buy whichever brand is on offer or the best value. The wipes that I probably buy the most often, and that I'm currently using, are these Carex refreshing and cleansing wipes. These currently cost just 85 pence for a packet of 15 wipes in Boots. The packet states that these are 'refreshing soft cleansing wipes for hands face and body'. I personally don't use these on my face, but I will use them to wipe my little nephews face if we are out and about and he's eaten something messy. I will use these on my hands, my nephews hands, and my husband will use these on his hands too. They are obviously not a substitute for actually washing your hands with soap and water, before and after eating, but they are ideal for on-the-go. I will also use these to freshen up on a hot day, they are are fairly cooling and refreshing to just wipe over the back of your neck, and arms etc. The packet states that these are gentle and mild making them suitable for the whole family, and that they contain an antibacterial, protective formula, and that they are dermatologically tested. These are perfect for a toddler or child, or an adult to cleanse and freshen up, I wouldn't use these on a babies delicate skin, but for everyone else in the family they are fine. They don't irritate or dry out my skin at all, and they have a fresh and clean scent. The wipes themselves are fairly substantial, they are not too thin so that they break up when you use them, one wipe is adequate for an adults hands, or a toddlers face and hands - unless they've eaten something particularly messy and sticky! These are a handy size to pop into a handbag or a pocket, and the resealable flap always reseals too and so it keeps the remaining wipes in the packet 'wet' until you come to use them. I also like to use these to wipe over any surfaces if we are out, the table in the coffee shop, airline tray tables and arm rests, and anything I'm likely to touch that looks a bit grimy (see my hygiene OCD here!!), and they do the job quickly and effectively. Nothing else to say really, wet wipes that work, and that are reasonably priced!
When it comes to taking my make-up off for me nothing beats a good cleanse, tone & moisturise session before bedtime and so thats the method I use 9 times out of 10. However when I was packing for holiday earlier this year it occurred to me I didn't want to lug that many products all the way to Bulgaria with me so I was going to have to invest in some travel face wipes to save room in my suitcase and for something to use that was a bit more refreshing in the heat. As this was in July this year all the shop had the travel essentials for people going on their jollies so I managed to pick up everything I needed in mini size including a packet of these 'Carex Refreshing/Cleansing Face Wipes'. The packet was small and its right there in the name - everything I needed from a packet of wipes and more since these are suitable for your face, hands and body so perfect when travelling to a foreign country in my opinion. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised - they aren't as good as my usual routine in any way but for a quick fix late at night or on the go they are amazing value! Useful Information: Price: 99p - I paid although since I have seen them around for cheaper. That is the price for a small packet of 15 wipes. Stockists: I got these from Superdrug as part of their travel essentials - they are also available from Boots, Wilkinsons & online from Amazon. Other Info: As I mentioned these wipes are suitable for use on your face, hands and body. They are suitable for sensitive skin & dermatologically tested - these are also suitable for adults and children alike. - - - - - - - - - - - Packaging: As I mentioned I bought these with the intention of taking them on holiday with me so the fact that they come in a mini packet worked perfectly for me - as they will if your looking for something to carry around in your handbag to use on the go (I'm unsure if these come in a packet any bigger than 15 wipes) if they don't then using them in the long term would be slightly annoying as you would be buying a new packet pretty much every fortnight, but as I said for travelling purposes the tiny size is just what I wanted. The packaging itself is blue and green in colour and is pretty standard and has all the information you could need printed on the back - shelf life, directions for use, ingredients etc and there is also a website should you have any other questions about the wipes. On the top of the packet is a small sticky flap that is pulled back so you can access the wipes and is stuck back down to stop them drying out - this seems to work pretty well as all my wipes remained moist and ready to use throughout my holiday so the packaging worked very well for me. Great for travelling and using on the go - might be a little to small a packet to be using long term though. - - - - - - - - - - - Using Them: These wipes look like any other so nothing out of the ordinary there - and they do have a slight fragrance, but it just smells clean and soap like - not enough to cause any irritation to your skin if you are sensitive to fragrance so nothing to worry about there - when things are seriously scented they cause me rashes and I had no problem with these at all. I was quite surprised at how moist these wipes are - some cheaper brands I've tried in the past feel a lot drier and so I have to really scrub at my face for it to feel make-up free and cleansed at all but these were as moist and soft feeling as much more expensive brands I've used. Due to how moist these feel that definitely helps when using them as I don't have to scrub as much on my eyes and it definitely helps make my face feel cleaner and more refreshed - and in 40 degree sunshine my face really did need refreshing pretty much all the time. I mainly used these on my face while I was away because a mixture of make-up, sweat, sand, sea water, chlorine etc didn't leave my face feeling too good and I really did need something to put some moisture back in and cool me down a bit as well and these really did work wonders for that. They also do remove make-up very well also - now I'm not sure how great they are on heavy make-up as I only wore minimal amounts whilst away but they removed my foundation and mascara very well, so for people that don't wear too much make-up day to day them these will work perfectly for you. - - - - - - - - - - - An All Over Scrubber? Since I started working in a shop I have become obsessed with people having germs on their hands. Now usually whilst at work I use anti-bacterial hand wash but I was going through bottles and bottles of that and as you may know its quite pricey to keep replacing the bottles. So when I got back from holiday I bought another packet of wipes specifically for using whilst at work. Now I cant say with absolute certainty these are good for killing germs but I can say these make my hands feel cleaner - always a bonus when handling a lot of dirty money! and I haven't had a cold or any other kind of sickness since I've been using these so I would say if they don't work 100 percent at killing germs they do a very good job. I have to admit I have never used these on my body as I've never had the need to however the way they work on my face and hands suggest they would be very good for that use as well - maybe I'll invest in a packet if I ever go to a festival - they would be brilliant for that! - - - - - - - - - - - Final Word: For the reason I bought these - using whilst on holiday and at work they work brilliantly. I give them 4*s as I don't think I would ever replace my cleanse, tone and moisturise routine with them - for travelling and using on the go they are a must have for me now and I highly recommend them to everyone. They just wouldn't be as good for long term use in my opinion. Thanks For Reading. x0 Salz 0x
Cussons Carex - Refreshing Cleansing Wipes What is it? ******** Some cleansing wipes.. Special features? ************** These are cleansing wipes that are suitable for the hands, face and body. Designed to provide instant cleansing and refreshment. Suitable for children and has been dermatologically tested. What do I think? ************* I think these are great, this was until the arrival of the hygiene hand sprays. This was only because after using these wipes you always had to find a bin for them, however, since I have just been using the hand sprays now, I actually have resorted to putting a pack of these in my bag still. Sometimes, you just need a proper clean of your hands and occasionally I do feel that only a hand wipe is more appropriate. With the handsprays, you spray the germ killing liquid onto your hands, ok, the bacteria is all killed and dead, but somehow, I get the thought that the bacteria is still on my hands, and therefore a wipe would be able to 'wipe it all off' during time when I couldn't get to some water...some weird logic in my mind, but it gies me a piece of mind anyway... These wipes are very moist, it's as if they have some soapy substance in them as they do leave a bit of foam on you hands after wiping. My dad hates this as he thinks that there is some 'soap' left on the hands after using these, and the issue is, you still wouldn't really be able to eat with your hands after using these, so hence, there is still a need for water! I generally still use this, as there doesn't seem to be anything else better - the other brands either do a wipe that is too dry, too thin, or has no anti-bacterial properties, well, lets just say, I much prefer this. They are soft textured, like a soft mini towel, although they could do with being bigger, less foamy, and also the smell is quite 'soapy' too - not really on the 'nice' side. These are usually about a £1 for a pack of 15 wipes. Probably one of the best on the market but it still could be improved. Thanks for reading. ©Leighsa 2010.
I was wanting to give my bag a make-over, so out shopping I was looking for lots of small items I could carry around in it. While looking for hand gel I became slightly shocked at the rising price of it so then I went looking for a cheaper alternative.. I found these Carex Refreshing Wipes, I thought they would be overall better and could be used for so much more.. At only 89p I decided to give them a go.. From purchasing these wipes I have seen them around everywhere now and you can get them in most shops as well as chemists.. The packaging is blue, green and white with the words 'Carex Refreshing.. Soft Cleansing For Hands, Face & Body'.. The packet contains 15 wipes and is very compact.. It is easily carried around in a bag taking up little room, they could also be carried around in your pocket.. To open it is a clear firm seal which covers a small opening which dispenses the wipes.. The wipes are easily removed, as long as you do it slightly gently you wont end up with 3 out of the packet.. You are instantly hit by the smell of the wipes, they are so fresh and clean smelling and not to overpowering like some wipes.. The wipes are a perfect size for using to refresh your hands or even to tidy up your eye make up.. Sometimes when I find my eye has smudged slightly I could use a wipe just to tidy it up.. There is alot of moisture in the wipes and don't dry out too quickly, so they are good quality as well as price.. Having removed a wipe from the packet It easily reseals and is air tight meaning that the wipes wont dry out.. When I first resealed my packet it didn't even look like i had opened it.. I have sensitive skin and these wipes don't dry it out and are delicate enough to use without irritating my skin.. They are definitely a must have when out on the go, you can pop a pack in your car, or take when going out for the day.. The wipes are not flushable, so you do need to find a bin after.. The promises it gives: Instant cleansing and refreshment Dermatologically tested Caring enough for children's skin Would reccomend =)
