Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream
Advantages: Low price, great results
The first facial moisturiser I ever used was Nivea and this was probably because my mum had always used it and I loved the smell of it in its blue tub. As a child, I often used to remove the lid and peel back the foil covering and smell the cream, so it was hardly surprising that when the time came for me to use a facial moisturiser, Nivea was what I turned to and is the brand I have used the most ever since.
The only time I have been swayed from using Nivea, is when a different moisturiser has been bought for me or I have treated myself to something more expensive when it has been on offer, with varying results I have found.
Although I loved the Clinique moisturiser my daughter bought me, I can't really afford to buy it for myself. I have also experienced good results using L'Oreal moisturisers, but I can't help thinking that I have no need to spend more on a more expensive brand when Nivea moisturisers always seem to work equally as well on my skin as the more expensive brands I have tried.
I have used the Nivea cream in the blue tub and also their intensive moisturiser and eye cream, but this Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream caught my eye in Asda a few months ago and after reading the information on the tube, I decided it was something I would like to try. And priced at under £3 for a 50ml tube, it wasn't a lot to spend should it not be very good. Although as it was Nivea, I wasn't really expecting to dislike it.
Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream is formulated for dry and sensitive skin, which seemed to be what I need right now. As I am getting older, I consider myself to be fortunate in that I don't seem to have any major wrinkles appearing yet, however, I am noticing that my skin especially on my face is becoming dry and at times it can look and feel quite sensitive, especially on a morning.
This day cream contains natural almond and calendula extract which should give your skin the intensive moisture it needs to support its natural balance. As well as nourishing your skin, it should leave your skin feeling soft and provide 24 hours of intensive moisturising.
Another bonus is that this cream includes SPF 15 and extra UVA filters which of course helps protect your skin from the effects of the weather and helps prevent premature skin aging. I won't buy a moisturiser without SPF included and so this was an important factor in my purchase.
I have been using this cream for a number of weeks now and have nothing but good things to say about it.
The smell does remind me a little of the original Nivea cream but with added almond. It isn't a strong-smelling cream but the scent is nice enough and I wouldn't want to use a heavily fragranced cream on my face anyway as it does have a tendency to be sensitive. This cream has been dermatologically approved.
You should apply the cream after cleansing/ washing your face, by gently massaging it in small circles around your face and avoiding the eye area.
I use this cream every morning and find my skin instantly loses its dryness upon application and if my skin is looking or feeling sensitive one morning, which I am finding is often the case these days, then it is not long after application that I find I exprerience relief and the sensitivity disappears.
The cream has quite a thick texture and I apply a little at a time, massaging it into my skin using circular movements with my finger tips. Despite the thickness of the cream, I find it absorbs quickly and does not feel at all heavy on my skin, nor does it leave my face feeling caked in moisturiser. Indeed I am left with a non-greasy but very soft and hydrated face. It really does feel quite luxurious in my opinion and I don't have to use a lot of the cream either, as I find a little goes a long way and by applying just four small dots to my face, it is left feeling totally moisturised after I have massaged it in.
I also find it provides a good base for applying make-up too. Whether this is foundation or bronzer, I find make-up is easy to apply after using this cream and using this helps provide a smooth, even finish.
Overall, I am really happy using Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream and it does keep my skin feeling moisturised all day long. It is only the following morning when I can feel that I need to use it again and so the 24 hour claim I believe really works, as I have never had to apply this to my skin more than once a day.
The low price when compared with high end products is also a big advantage for me and this cream shows that good results can be achieved on a budget.
I am happy to continue using this product as it offers great value for money whilst doing all I ask of a moisturiser. Therefore it is a product I am happy to award five stars to and is one which I can highly recommend.
Summary: Beautiful skin can be achieved on a budget!
