Perfect cream to sort out extreme dryness or a lovely moisturising mask

I love Decleor as a brand and use quite a few of their products. Of late I primarily use their moisturisers as I find they suit my dry sensitive skin .

I do use several in the range and I was pleased when I received a jar of Nutridivine as a gift from a friend for Christmas as I hadn't tried this particular one in their range.

Decleor do two moisturisers in this range and rather confusingly they are both called Nutridivine, but the one I am reviewing is the Nutridivine (Nutriboost Ultra Cocooning Cream - for very dry skin and extreme climate) note everything in brackets appears in very small print on the jar so it would be easy to confuse the two.

Nutridivine comes in a heavy plastic/glass jar with a plastic lid which is easy to open and close. Inside there is a further protection with another plastic lid. This is the standard packaging for Decleor and it feels indestructible. The product is boxed and comes with a separate leaflet that has details about the product and instructions for use.

      The Product
This is a very rich cream, white in colour that is quite thick and has a very light floral fragrance.
It contains a range of ingredients designed to nourish, hydrate and protect dry skin. It is described as an emergency treatment designed to hydrate , reduce water loss and cocoon your skin in a protective barrier, so it can be used in extreme climates.

Decleor are a premium French skincare brand and they use a combination of plant , flowers and natural oils in their products. They do not test on animals and use 100% natural ingredients. Their products are high quality but do have a high price tag.

Decleor say they have used some ingredients specifically to promote lipid production.
      Here comes the science bit ;
      - skin lipids protect the skin from germs pollution and loss of hydration and essentially form a protective barrier on the skin. Decleor have incorporated active ingredients such as Baoba Jelly ( African Tree), Chestnut Extract and Cotton Lipids to promote and increase lipid production so the skin is more protected.

Other ingredients include geranium and angelica essential oils and narcissus , acacia and rose essential waxes .

      How to use this
Apply morning and evening to your face and neck after cleansing the skin and Decleor suggest applying Angelique essential oil before doing this.
Decleor suggest using one of their oils with every moisturiser in their range, however I don't think they are essential and particularly don't feel one is needed with this cream. I do use them but I think you can get the benefits from the moisturiser without combining it with their oils, particulary with Nutridivine.

      The Results
I have been using this for a couple of weeks and I do feel that this has nourished my skin and addressed the dryness. I do not use an oil under this moisturiser as I feel it would be overkill. This is a very rich cream and when I first used it, I put far too much on and although my skin felt lovely, it was hard to apply makeup on top.

It almost feels like you are using a moisturising mask , so you only need to apply a small amount and even with a small amount you must wait at least 10 minutes before applying foundation or the results will be patchy. That is my only gripe with the product as it does not make a great base for makeup as it is so rich.

What it does do is really plump up your skin and my skin feels very soft and hydrated . I initially started using this twice a day but gradually reduced the amount ,so now put a tiny amount on in the mornings. I have put a generous amount on before going to bed and found that this really gave my skin a boost and has rid me of ny flakiness.

You know you have a skin cream on when you use this , as it makes such a difference , but somehow even when I overdo it , it doesn't feel greasy.

I used this after a period where my skin was very reactive sensitive spotty with flaky patches, I managed to sort the spots and reactive problem out using another Decleor cream which dealt with the sensitivity but did not deliver enough results on the dryness front. Nutridivine was actually the perfect cream to rehydrate my skin.
However I personally think that this is a cream to rotate with others as using this continuously could be overkill and so I plan to return to one of my other Decleor favourites Hydra Floral now my skin seems back on track.
I think that this would last at least 6 months as you only need a very small amount to do the face and neck. Better to start with a small amount and add more with this one as if you do overdo it, you will have to tissue or cleanse it off.

      Would I Recommend
Yes , but only to those with very very dry skin as this is so rich , plus I would suggest only using it as a night cream. It does nourish and hydrate which made my skin look better. It has a lovely soft floral scent and feels very natural and caused me no irritation. But I think it is too rich for daily use and if you do put too much on , you will need to take it off as it does not make a good base for make-up. It is like putting a night cream or a moisturising mask on.
This cream would be totally unsuitable for normal , oily or combination skin as it is far too rich.

It woudl be perfect to protect your skin when it is bitterly cold or very cold and windy.

      Does it Work?
It has restored my skin after a period of being over-reactive very dry and sore. Something that happens to me periodically as my skin is so sensitive . I managed to rebalance and combat the sensitivity with Decleor Harmonie , but that alone was not hydrating so Nutridivine has given it the extra moisturising boost it needed. I will continue to use this but probably as a mask or apply a thick layer on a night.

I am not sure whether I will buy this again as I think it might be too rich for my skin.
I can't believe I have said that , given how dry my skin is, but on balance I think it was a lovely gift and I do like it, but I prefer Decleor Hydra Floral as a daily moisturiser. When I was researching the price, after writing the review I did notice that they described this as an emergency treatment and I think that is spot on as it certainly isn't a moisturiser for continuous daily use.

I give it 5 stars as it does do exactly what it claims, although I can't verify that it has boosted my skin lipids!

      Price and Availability
RRP is £44.50 for 50ml from Decleor online or House of Fraser, but this can be bought from other online retailors for around £31 if you shop around, which you must, don't pay £44.50!
