I suffer from Rosacia and some time back I was recommended Dermalogica products by the girl in my local beauty salon. I realise she was probably on commision but I had been wanting to try them for some time previously so I took the plunge and bought some.
The soothing protection spray is designed to calm reactive skin and protect it from changes in tempreture and the active botanicals in it also promise to help reduce irritation and redness.
It comes in quite a big bottle which contains 250ml of product which is a good thing because Dermalogica products aren't cheap and a bottle of protection spray will cost you in the region of £26 but this will last you for absolutely ages.
Because it comes in a spray it is incredibly easy to use and all you need to do is close your eyes and sprit it once or twice which will then cover the entire face. The spray that comes out of the bottle is really fine and it absorbs into the skin really quickly meaning you don't have long to wait before applying your moisturiser or in my case the barrier repair serum.
It has a lovely subtle smell to it and it leaves my skin feeling so soft almost as if I have already moisturised. It doesn't skin and feels increidbly gentle on the skin and although it didn't really do anything to help with reducing my Rosacia it did leave my skin feeling more conditioned than it was previously.
I still got redness whilst using the spray but I did feel my skin was less reactive to both the sun and the wind when I used it.
When it was absorbed there was no greasiness or shine and my skin was lovely and even looking and very clear.
I ran out of my spray a couple of months back and I have noticed my skin no longer feels as nice to the touch and I do intend on replacing my bottle as soon as I get a chance to goo to the salon to pick some up.
Out of all the Dermalogica products that I tried this and the cleanser are the only two that I am planning on buying again as they were both so good.
If you want something that will leave your skin both looking and feeling lovely then I highly recommend this protection spray. It might not leave you redness free like you hoped but it will definately leave your skin looking in tip top condition.
I bought this after using and loving the Multi-active toner, but finding that it didn't soothe my skin when I needed it to. It costs around £21 for a 250ml bottle, but as usual shop around and you may be able to find it cheaper.
Dermalogica say this ultra-calming spray is formulated with their exclusive 'Anti-Ozonate Complex' to protect skin from reactive ozone while botanicals immediately reduce irritation, redness and inflammation. It shields skin from further environmental assault caused by temperature extremes, pollution, irritating cosmetic products, harsh detergents, chemical exposure, stress, poor diet or hormonal factors. Soothing Green Tea, Canadian Willow Herb, Cucumber, Liquorice and Raspberry extracts deliver potent anti-itching, healing and antioxidant properties. It contains no artificial fragrance or colour, and is recommended for sensitive skin types.
It comes in a clear cylindrical bottle with a spray top. The spray gives a nice 'spritz' of the product, covering a nice sized area, so it doesn't take loads of sprays to cover the whole of your face and neck. It is a watery liquid that feels really refreshing when you spray it onto your skin.
I usually just spray it 2 or 3 times over my face and neck, holding the bottle about 30cm from my face, and this covers my face nicely without feeling too wet. If you hold the bottle too close when you spray it, or if you spray too much, it does feel very wet and not particularly pleasant.
Once you've sprayed it on you can either apply your moisturiser straight away or blot it with a tissue first. I usually just wait about 30 seconds for it to sink in a little, then apply my moisturiser over the top.
I do find my skin feels very refreshed when I've sprayed this on. It gets rid of any tightness and really does feel soothing on irritated skin. It doesn't strip the skin or dry it out, and it actually makes the skin feel really soft and smooth. I often get dry skin, red patches and soreness, and itchiness on my skin, particularly during the winter months due to the cold weather and central heating. This product soothes all those problems with ease. It calms any itchiness right down, as well as toning down any redness in my skin. It seems to also smooth out the dry patches and give them a much needed boost of moisture, and my skin feels much more comfortable.
It also seems to really help to stop any irritation from developing, particularly from harsh weather conditions. Normally when I go out in the cold and wind, my skin looks really red and feels quite sore after a while, but using this seems to completely protect my skin from the environment so I no longer get these problems.
Overall I'm extremely pleased with this product. It really does what it claims to and the bottle lasts practically forever as you hardly use any each time, so it's really good value for money too.
This product can be sprayed directly onto your face and eyes, or sprayed onto cotton wool. It has a nice herbal smell that is not overly strong. I have a very reactive skin - my skin can get blotchy, red and irritated at the drop of a hat- and this product comes in a small hand-bag size which makes it portable so you can have anytime, anywhere relief. It really works, you can feel your skin cooling down. It contains Lavander, Lemon, Green tea, cucumber, Licorice, raspeberry, clover, sage etc etc etc. Also contains a complex that protects skin from the environment. it leaves your skin feeling quite moisturised, although it is not greasy, so it may not be suitable for very oily / acne prone skins.
It's indicated for use after cleansing and before moisturising.it's pricey, but really worth it if you have allergic / reactive skin.
I recently bought this out of sheer desperation after a nasty reaction to an as yet unidentified product gave me a nasty rash. I chose Dermalogica as they are renowned for products that do not irritate the skin, being free from many of the common culprits for skin irritation (eg, perfume and mineral oils). I was recommended this by the assistant at my local salon. You use it in place of a toner and spray lightly on your face after cleansing. There is a slight smell to it, but this is the smell of its ingredients, rather than any added perfume. It instantly felt very soothing and helped enormously with my rash. I have continued to use it since my rash disappeared and it is suitable for my normal to dry skin. One benefit of the prouduct is that you can spray it on at any time, and it will help to protect your skin against future irritations. It is quite pricey at £18, but if you shop around on the net, you can get it a little cheaper. Definitely worth a try in a skin emergency - I'm guessing it would be great for sunburn, too.
