Dermalogica The Ultimate Buffing Cloth
Advantages: Easy To Use, Lasts For Ages & Produces Great Results.
Disadvantages: Expensive To Buy.
I recently had a slight splurge in my local beauty salon and ended up invested in "The Ultimate Buffing Cloth" which is designed and produced by Dermalogica. It's not a product I'd ever heard of or ever really had any need of, but I was easily swayed into buying it as I so often am these days! It's basically a cloth which acts as an exfoliator and therefore removes dead skin cells. It's advertised as a "quick drying, hygienic exfoliating cloth" which promises to "buff and polish the body to silky perfection." With advertising like that how was I meant to resist buying it?!
The cloth comes in a clear plastic Ziploc bag which is ideal if you want to travel with the cloth or even just for storing it. The cloth itself is dark blue in colour and feels like a slightly abrasive flannel in many ways. It's very soft and it has a hygienic smell to it when it's first used, this smell does fade but as long as you keep it clean and let it dry after use there's no mouldy smell to it at all. The size of the cloth is 12 inches by 36 inches to give you a rough idea , when opened out it's bigger than the palm of my hand but it folds up really easily when using it.
To use the buffing cloth you basically rub it over the areas you wish to exfoliate when you're in the bath or shower. There's no need to apply too much pressure and it doesn't hurt at all when I'm using it, my skin is quite sensitive and this doesn't irritate it or worsen the sensitivity in any way. I find it takes about three minutes to thoroughly cover all my body with the cloth as I do tend to go over the areas more than once. You can feel the exfoliating in action when you're using it but it doesn't leave my skin over red or sore after use, a hint of redness can linger.
In terms of advantages this product does have several - it's really easy to use and there's no hassle involved, you don't get the bitty residue in the bottom of your bath after use as I always seem to with other exfoliators and it is fairly gentle on my skin yet still gets the job done. Lastly due to it's long length I can even use it to exfoliate my back by holding onto both ends and rubbing it from side to side... great invention! In terms of disadvantages there isn't really any that I can pinpoint at all as this product doesn't seem to have a single bad point at all.
I bought my cloth on offer with several other products but I believe it retails at around £10 from my online research. If you're looking to buy one you can get hold of one for £10.80 on Look Fantastic which is the site I tend to use for Dermalogica products. I've had mine for about a month now and tend to use it about once a week, my friend has had hers for closer to six months and it's no where near needing replacing at all - as long as you let this dry out after use and wash it in clean water there's no reason it won't last a year or two really. The full five stars!
Thanks for reading.
