I am reviewing Dove rich Nourishing Beauty Body Moisturiser
I bought this from Tesco,I think it was about £4.99
I have had container of Dove Beauty Body moisturiser for a few months and have used it 3 to 4 times per week .
Dove beauty body moisturiser is just one of the many Dove body products ,I uasually use Dove Pro age ,but when I run out I started to use this as I already had it in my bedroom .
Waste not ,want not ,is what I believe in ,so, I started to use this product
The Dove moisturiser I have is for dry skin ,which I find ideal , I have found that as I have gotten older ,and since I had some radio therapy, my skin has gone much drier .
Dove moisturiser comes in the familiarly shaped plastic bottle with an easy flip up lid
It contains 250 mls
On the front is the Dove logo of a stylized bird and the words " DOVE " rich nourishing beauty body moisturiser ,for dry skin
On the reverse it tells you that the key to beautiful skin is moisture,and this moisturiser was made to care for your skin with up to 24 hrs mosture, moisturising formula , I suppose it must have lots of water in then ...............
Skin is left soft and supple and radient
I have used this moisturiser on my arms and legs mostly as they seem to be my really dry spots ,especially my forearms which can be really itchy if I forget to put some form of cream on them regularly.
This product has very little smell to it, unlike the pro age products which have a sickly prefume to them, so I prefer this ,
The white cream comes out easily and is quickly absorbed into my skin.
There is no sticky feeling after applying this moisturiser ,and my skin feels really nourished and soft.
I am recommending this as a great dry skin moisturiser
I will give this 4 stars ,I took a star off because I would have liked it to smell a little better
I normally use Lush, Soap & Glory or The Body Shop for my moisturising needs, but for travel purposes I've been using a miniature bottle of Dove Beauty body lotion. I had a travel Dove set including a body wash so bought the moisturiser to match. I do like the Dove brand as it's good for dry and sensitive skin, and I used to use it a lot particularly when I was younger.
This body lotion comes in the traditional Dove white packaging with a blue lid. It has the Dove logo and the name of the product. Inside, the lotion is white and fairly thick with what I would describe as the 'Dove' smell. It's not as nice as Lush or Soap & Glory but it's pleasant enough and fairly neutral, so it won't clash with any body spray or perfume.
The lotion sinks into the skin easily and not too much is needed to moisturise effectively. My skin is left feeling soft and smooth after use. The lotion doesn't irritate my skin at all and feels very soothing. It is designed for dry skin and it really works well on mine.
This is a really nice lotion but it doesn't feel particularly luxurious. It does a perfectly good job but I do prefer my nicely scented body lotions. I'd definitely consider buying this again for travel purposes or if I was strapped for cash. It only costs between £3 and £5 for 250ml so it's pretty good value for money.
This Dove Body Moisturiser comes in a few different varieties and the one I am reviewing is the "rich nourishing beauty body moisturiser" for skin types normal to dry. It comes in either a 250 ml or larger 400 ml bottle.
The packaging is quite basic and typical Dove. The moisturiser is contained in a sturdy white plastic bottle with a flip top. Generally I have no problem getting the product out of this, but it does get difficult when it is nearly empty and I just leave it standing on its head to make it easier.
The moisturiser is quite a thick and creamy white lotion. The texture, look and feel of it actually remind me of suncream rather than moisturiser! It has a neutral, clean smell which is typical of Dove products. The lotion feels nice enough to apply and quite cool and refreshing on the skin, however it is much heavier than a lot of moisturisers I normally use and I feel that lighter textured moisturisers do refresh my skin better. The Dove moisturiser requires more rubbing in than I am used to because it is heavier. It takes a couple of minutes to completely be absorbed by the skin and leaves a little greasiness while I am waiting for it to be absorbed, leaving the skin slightly tacky to the touch. The Dove lotion scent is retained on the skin. This is not strong and over powering but you can clearly smell it from up close.
I feel it does leave my skin feeling well moisturised, but personally I would just prefer to get moisturisation from a lighter, quicker absorbing and less greasy lotion. I don't have any real problems with dry skin, so maybe someone with dry skin would get more benefit from this.
Over all I found it was okay - an acceptable body lotion but not one that has a particular appeal for me as someone who doesn't have dry skin.
Dove have been advertising their products quite a bit recently and they seem to be being very honest with what they say about them. Most of the time I like to try new products rather than keep to a particular brand because up until now I have never really found a moisturiser that I liked enough to keep buying it so finding this has been really good.
I can't really take the credit for it as the first time I used it, it had been in a gift set my auntie bought for me but I have bought it a number of times since. One of the main advantages is the fact that there is not much of a scent. What there is, is pleasant but it does not overpower my perfume. It can be difficult finding the right product when there is shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser and perfume all giving off a different smell.
The last time I bought it was a few weeks ago and it cost £2.45 but this was on offer from £2.95. Even at full price I would still consider it to be a good deal. The manufacturer is Lever Faberge and the product is manufactured in Germany although there are English contact details if there are any problems with this or any other Dove product purchased.
I buy the 250ml bottle and it normally lasts me well over 3 months - partly because you don't need a lot each time and I only tend to use it every other day. It is meant for normal to dry skin and it certainly does help to stop my skin getting too dry. I do not find it greasy as other users have
The product itself is a nice texture and does not feel at all greasy. It seems to soak in pretty quickly so there is no need to worry about it soaking into clothes as you get dressed. There is vitamin E and this is believed to be the ingredient that protects the cells although the blurb on the back of the bottle does not say how.
I would certainly recommend this moisturiser although I don't know how it will work on anyone who has greasy skin, but if you can get it on offer it is not a lot lost if you dont like it.
And finally the technical bit - the ingredents are aqua, ethylhexyl cocoate, cyclomethicone, hydrogenuated polydecene, alchohol denagt, glycerine, cetyl PEG/PPG - 10/i. dimethicone, tocopheryl Acetate, Aera Alba, Disodium Phosphate, Cera Microcristalina, Parfum, Phenoxyethanol and Propylparaben.
I suffer from dry skin occasionally, and use a body moisturiser daily. I love to try new products, however my budget doesn't allow for luxury items, so I'm constantly on the look out for effective, yet affordable beauty products such as body moisturiser. This review is for Dove Beauty Body Moisturiser for Normal/Dry skin. I have used Dove products before and saw this on special offer (reduced from £3.29 to £1.49 in my local Semi-Chem store) it seemed good value for the 250ml bottle.
The bottle is white with the distinctive Dove Logo in dark blue with a flip top lid. The moisturiser came out very quickly and was thinner than I expected, causing me to have more on my hands than necessary and was pretty messy. It's white in colour. Having used Dove Beauty Bar and Body Wash in the past, I expected it to have the same subtle, but pleasant smell, however I was quite disappointed with the smell, there was a faint scent of Dove but was over powered by a fairly strong, medicated 'nappy cream' kind of smell, which wasn't especially pleasant and a bit of a let down. As I mentioned before it has a rather runny consistency, which makes it quite difficult to apply, as I started to work it into my shoulders and upper arms it ran to to my elbow before I could work it in. I also found it difficult to work in, and felt it had a somewhat greasy feeling, and didn't absorb well into my skin. The result was my skin felt tacky and greasy even a few hours afterwards, and I found the smell at off-putting, as I could smell it still later in the day, after applying it first thing in the morning.
My skin still felt greasy that evening and to be honest I couldn't wait to get in the shower and wash it off. I have used it since on problem areas such as elbows and knees where my skin gets particularly dry and it's OK for this, but as an allover body moisturiser it's not for me, I found the tackiness unpleasant.
I wouldn't purchase this again, I think there are far more effective moisturisers on the market for a similar price, and the smell alone would put me off using this moisturiser.
Always on the look out for body moisturisers, I recently bought this at Tesco at the reduced price of £3.40 for a 400ml bottle compared to the usual price of £5.10.
- Packaging -
This moisturiser comes in a very simple, tall, opaque, white container. It doesn't enhance the look of your bathroom if you are into smart looking toiletries to adorn your bathroom cabinets, shelves etc but for the reduced price and the quantity in the bottle, I wasn't too concerned about this!
The cream is dispensed through a small hole under the flip top lid which is easy enough to use but I can imagine that when I get near the bottom, there'll be quite a lot of waste attached to the inside of the container so it will be a case of cutting it open to get the last bits out. I much prefer tubs for this reason as every little bit can be scooped out!!
- What does it promise on the packaging? -
~ 24 hour nourishing moisture formula.
~ Leaves skin soft, supple and radiant.
~ Replenishes moisture within.
~ For dry skin.
~ Use within 12 months of opening.
- So what's it like? -
~ Smell and Appearance ~
I find that scents are always difficulty to write about as they are so subjective. For me, this white, quite thick cream has a clean, refreshing smell to it and in my opinion, a little more suited to women than men but it could at a push be used by both. The smell from the cream does linger on your skin for a few hours after using it so it clashes with any perfumes you may want to apply so a small disadvantage.
~ So does it moisturise? ~
Like most things I try for the first time, I always tend to put too much on until I get the measure of the product and work out how much goes how far and this was the case with this cream. I've now realised that quite a small amount goes a long way even on larger areas such as my legs. When I first used it, I put far too much on and it took an age to abosrb into my skin and since I'm not the most patient of beings when it comes to things like this, it wasn't great.
When you know the correct amount to apply dependant upon the dry nature of each part of your skin then it absorbs quite quickly but I would advise about 5 minutes before getting dressed to be on the safe side so that you don't get any marks on your clothes.
It isn't as greasy as some of the other moisturisers I have used and it gives quite a nice sheen to your skin which is good if you want to wear bare legs with a skirt. Having come back from holiday, my skin was in need of some moisturising and it has certainly helped the drier areas such as my lower leg area and back. It kept the peeling of dead skin at bay for a little while and my skin definitely feels well moisturised and less thirsty than others I have used.
All in all, a good moisturiser which is reasonably priced for those of you looking for something economical to help with dry skin.
Thanks for reading.
N.B. Review also appears on ciao.
I have very dry and sensitive skin, even if I miss just one day of moisturising my skin seems to get very dry very quickly. I spent months testing different products but couldn't find the perfect one to suit my skin type. A friend who has similar skin to mine recommended that I try this one so I decided to give it a go.
I found it in a local boots store, I thought it seemed a little expensive £4.79 for 400ml, it was certainly more expensive than most other moisturisers that boots had on offer. Fortunately it was on a 3 for 2 deal so I didn't actually pay for the product.
The bottle is white with blue writing, typical of dove products which make it easy to recognise.
After just two days of using this there was a noticable change in the texture of my skin. It was much softer and smoother and I had no more of the scaly dry patches that I'd had previously. It also has a lovely smell, not too overpowering but I can often smell it throughout the day.
I do find that it does take some time to soak into the skin so you need to wait a while before getting dressed once you've used it but it is worth the wait to see the results. I think that it is moisturising enough to use on dry skin but not too greasy to use on normal skin either.
I would definitely recommend this product.
I have been using searching for a moisturising cream which will help me to avoid (or make me think I'm avoiding) stretch marks during pregnancy and also to alleviate the crazy itching that my ever growing bump and bosoms are experiencing! My mother in law had bought some of this Dove moisturiser for my husband so I thought as it was there in the cupboard, I'd start using it. Dove is a brand which has been around now for a number of years and has always had its moisturising properties at the fore of its advertising campaign so I felt confident in it as a moisturiser.
The moisturiser comes in a white plastic bottle with the recognisable Dove logo of a dove nonetheless! The bottle is as shown in the picture above with a flip-top lid which is easy to open and close while you are using the product. The plastic bottle is recyclable after use.
One thing which makes or breaks a moisturiser for me is the consistency and how well it is absorbed by the skin. I always use creams such as this before bed as I can't bear to feel my clothes sticking to me if I haven't got enough time to allow the cream to sink in to my skin. This particular moisturiser is more like a lotion than a cream and is absorbed well into the skin. I use about three 10p size blobs on my 24 week bump and that is more than enough to cover my bump and my bosoms too! It spreads well around the skin and is a lovely silky texture to rub in. Any leftovers on the hands I tend to rub into my arms. After rubbing in well and sitting for a couple of minutes, clothes can be worn without that very sticky, claggy feeling.
The moisturiser smells very delicate and fresh and it lingers for a while which is pleasant. It is not too feminine a fragrance so men can use this no problem at all.
This moisturiser does a very good job at keeping skin soft and supple. I know that I can't stave off the stretch marks with any lotion or potion (although so far so good!) but it does help to keep my skin soft and gets rid of that horrid itchiness of stretching skin. I don't use this daily, maybe two or three times a week and I still find my skin is benefitting from its use. That said, this moisturiser is quite suitable for daily use. I wouldn't use it on my face, only on body as the skin on the face is much more delicate than that on the rest of the body.
This has been a great moisturiser for me, no fuss, nothing fancy, it just does the job!
I have awful dry skin and switch between moisturisers to find one that works for me to help improve it and this one is working wonders!
You can buy it for £3.29 from Lloyds pharmacy 250ml which is the cheapest I have found.
As you can see in the picture it is a white bottle that you squeeze to get the product out with a flip top lid. Its easy to get out but I've found it easier to press it upright as if its upside down too much product can come out.
Its a nice smooth moisturiser meaning its not really thick or watery so it doesn't peel off your skin like others do it's white in colour. It lasts for 12m after opening.
It says on the back its a 24 hour lasting moisturiser so you shouldn't feel like you need to add more during the day which seems true as I've only needed to add in the morning and I prefer to add more at bed time.
Only a little amount needs to be applied so it lasts a long time.
It doesn't leave a horrible greasy effect on your skin.
Remember to cleanse, tone and exfoliate before applying your moisturiser and use daily!
It's a trusted make and works well, its a good price and size.
It's really improved my skin within a few weeks of using it, I recommend this moisturiser highly and it's okay to use on sensitive skin.
I have used this product daily for over a year. Combined with exfoliation, it has greatly reduced the hard skin on my elbows and feet. Although it is a body moisturiser, I've also found it is suitable for use on my face without making it overly greasy.
The cream is easy to use; it rubs into the skin easily without leaving a greasy residue. However, be careful not to apply too much as this saturates the skin and will feel a bit greasy. Skin is left feeling noticeably softer within a few days of use, although results are better with regular exfoliation as well. I find softer skin makes shaving easier, and using the moisturiser after shaving reduces irritation. It doesn't sting when applied after shaving unlike some other moisturisers I have used. Although after using an epilator, wait until the next day to moisturise otherwise it will hurt (although I imagine this is true of any moisturiser)!
The cream itself has almost no smell, which in my opinion is good for a daily moisturiser, as I don't want the smell of moisturiser to combine with my perfume.
The bottle is sturdy and the lid fits well and clicks shut firmly so you can transport it without fear of it exploding all over your luggage!
A 250ml bottle is available for around £4 from most supermarkets. As only a small amount is needed each time, with daily use this bottle will last you three or four months, a small price to pay for softer, more radiant skin! Buy it now!
I have very sensitive, very dry skin and as I am getting older it is becoming more drier and it needs a little extra help and this Dove body moisturiser is one that I use on a regular basis and it helps keep my skin nice and soft.
It comes in a plastic container with a flip lid and inside it is a very rich, creamy, soft white cream and it has a very nice fragrance to it and the cream blends all over the body perfectly and it is not greasy but it has a very shiny gloss on the surface of the skin until it is absorbed, I find it takes around 30 minutes to absorb into my skin and I usually use this one at night time after I have had a shower and I have used it in the day time too but I usually do not get dressed for awhile until it has absorbed and that is just the way I prefer this one since it takes a little more time to soak into my skin.
This moisturiser has a very nice rich texture and it is an extremely good quality indeed as all Dove products are in my opinion and I usually buy this one for just under £3 for a 250ml container and it is worth every penny and for a well known brand it is a good price.
This lasts me a long time and the moisturiser leave the skin immediately soft to the touch and even after a few hours, the skin still feels soft and it replenishes moisture within the skin and holds onto the moisture for 24 hours.
My skin does not get flaky with this one, and I have a lately had a few very dry patches around my elbow and I have just massaged this cream into them and it has left them feeling smooth like the rest of the skin after one application.
I use this on my legs and even around my ankle area and the skin on my legs is nice and soft and my hands have a treatment while I am massaging it into my skin and I just absolutely love the texture and thickness of this cream and the smell is divine and a beautiful fragrance for my liking, and is quite feminine in my opinion.
I highly recommend this one as it is very good quality and used every day it leaves the skin in tip top condition and well worth every penny in my opinion.
The container is a nice size to hold and to squeeze out of the top and it is not an ugly looking container like some I have seen on the market.
I give this 5 stars.
I use other soap branded products like their soap and deodorant and they are fairly good (the soap is better).
Availability and Price
This moisturiser is available from supermarkets as well as beauty stores like boots and superdrug. I tend to only buy beauty products when on special offer like buy one get one free. The normal cost is about £3-£4 for 250ml which is standard. This is an everyday product and isn't a premium designer product.
The moisturiser is white and for me it doesn't really absorb into the skin really well. I have to rub it quite a lot before it starts to sink into my skin. Although this is a body moisturiser I use it on my face with really bad results. I have a very subtle skin discoloration and my forehead is darker than the rest of my face. When using this my face looks incredibly oily and the skin discoloration becomes obvious. I have combination skin (oily T zone and normal/dry skin). On the rest of my body the moisturiser doesn't fair any better and my hands and arms become greasy and oily. It does smell nice but its not amazing.
I think that in the summer a more lighter moisturiser is required than in the winter due to the weather. So this moisturiser may be better in the winter when I and most people will be prone to drier skin. I wouldn't recommend this moisturiser as there are other better ones for the same or lower price. This may benefit those with really dry skin.
I don't know how much this body moisturiser is as someone gave it to me with some other beauty products as a gift.
Mine is the same as shown in the photo.
The bottle shape is a good choice as it fits nicely in your hand, and the lid is a flip cap. Has a long list of pharmacy ingredients. Back of bottle says that it lasts 12months and has the recycle logo. I wish products would be more accurate though by putting a date rather than 12months as you don't know how long it's been on the shelf. I tend not to keep products for ages though.
The front of bottle has the famous Dove logo and it does say 24hr. For Dry Skin
What Dove Claim (back of bottle)
With its 24hr nourishing moisture formula, Dove leaves your skin immediately softer...
Then goes deeper to replenish moisture within...
And then it holds onto this moisture for 24hours.
Skin is left soft, supple and radiant, and it feels so great on your skin that you want to use it every day.
I flipped the lid and smelt it, it didn't smell very nice but I thought it would be fine once it has been applied. I squeezed some into my hand first ready to rub in to my skin, taking another smell I was met with a strong scent the best way I can describe is an overly clinical scent. Not good.
I started to rub the product in and that's what I mean by start, the cream took ages to rub in, thinking I was using too much decided to use less but same thing was happening.
The cream felt greasy and heavy on my skin and when I looked there was a slight sheen on my skin making it look shiny. I could smell the product and it was horrible kind of like Lush's Dream Cream.
Resisting the urge to get back in the bath and wash it off, I started thinking maybe I was being unfair as I had applied this after using my Dove body wash as this was lovely I wrote in another review.
So just standing in a towel I decided to give the product some time to absorb although it shouldn't need this really, I went about doing my hair instead after washing my hands as they felt all slippery.
Afterwards my skin did feel soft and the slight sheen had gone but this took a while.
Therefore the product is not practical as it feels like you have to wait for the product to absorb, which contradicts Dove's claims of immediately leaving your skin softer.
Perhaps I am being too harsh as I don't suffer from Dry Skin, but sometimes I get mild eczema on my elbow which comes and goes, (I use E45) but I tried some on my elbow and was still greasy.
I decided to give the product another go the next morning before I had a bath later on thinking perhaps it was because of other bath products I used. Remembering to use a very small amount I tried again but only got as far as rubbing it on my arms and it did the same.
So I asked my neighbour who volunteers in our local charity shop do they take body products so I gave it to her, rather than put in the bin.
I think I have been fair in trying to give Dove the benefit of the doubt by trying again especially as I didn't like the smell of it but am sorry to say that the product for me is awful. With a strong product name of Dove I think it's fair to expect more than this.
Maybe other people have better luck for this or it's meant for very dry all over skin.
Would I buy?
As have already said it was a gift with other products but I think from my review I wouldn't use again, let alone buy.
I love dove products and I received a travel gift set of four mini dove products for my birthday and I was very happy. I have also tried loads of different moisturisers including, the sanctuary butter, the body shop butters, jergens naturals and nivea and I think that this one is one of the best.
It is a nice clean simple packaging like all of the other dove products. I have the small mini 50ml version which is in a little squeezy bottle but the product is difficult to get out, especially at the end. It also says for 'dry skin' at the bottom of the bottle.
I have found that it only lightly moisturises and it also makes my hands feel quite greasy though, which isn't very nice. On the bottle it says 'skin is left soft supple' I didn't find my skin to be a lot different to before really which is quite disappointing as other dove products that I have tried are really nice. It also says 'it holds onto this moisture for 24 hours' I don't know about 24 hours as my skin seemed dry after using it a few hours later.
But it has a really really nice scent, it smells to me a bit like sunscreen, and it looks a bit like sunscreen to. It is a thick creamy white cream and it has a really nice texture but then when you start to rub it in, it feels a bit greasy on my skin.
*Various sizes available
*Quite cheap - £2 to £3 where you shop
*Smells nice - like sunscreen
*nice texture but when you rub it in, it feels a bit greasy on my skin
*In my opinion it did not hold onto the moisture for 24 hours
*Great for traveling

Dove Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser
For much of the year I live in quite harsh weather conditions, between 40 - 50 degrees in the summer and as low as -11 in the winter months, and my skin can really suffer the consequences.
I have combination skin normally but these weather conditions being so severe mean that my skin now becomes extremely dry and 'weathered', especially on my legs which have to suffer the added trauma of shaving.
For the last couple of years I have used Dove's Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser to help combat this problem. This version I am reviewing is the one containing Apricot Kernel Oil and vitamin E.
~~~ Packaging ~~~
This moisturiser is the 250ml size and comes in a white plastic bottle with a dark blue flip top lid. It has Dove in large bold dark blue lettering across the front making the product easy to recognise on the supermarket shelves. This version is for Normal/Dry skin.
On the reverse of the bottle Dove give the following statement:
"Dove Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser is specially formulated with nutrients that quench the thirst of even the driest skin. It contains pure Apricot Kernel Oil, active moisturisers and cell-protecting vitamin E. Absorbed quickly into your skin this rich creamy moisturiser works from the moment you apply it and leaves you with noticeably softer and visibly smoother skin".
~~~ Content ~~~
The lotion is white in colour and is of a nice consistency being neither too thick or too thin. It has a pleasant fragrance that is quite strong, floral and sweet and may be a little overpowering for some people. It may be wise to smell this product before you buy it to see if you are happy with the fragrance. When you put some onto the fingers it feels creamy and soft and a little greasy at first though this soon disappears once it is rubbed into the skin.
~~~ Result and Opinion ~~~
This moisturiser does exactly what it is intended for, it replenishes lost moisture levels and protects the skin against further moisture loss. It smooths and heals sore and rough skin and restores it's natural suppleness. It is easy to rub into the skin and instantly leaves the skin feeling nourished and soft and supple. I would highly recommend it if you have very dry skin or like me suffer now and then from bouts of weather damage.
~~~ Cost and Availability ~~~
This moisturiser is available in almost all good supermarkets and costs around £4.99 for this 250ml bottle, however it is frequently on offer at various stores so it does pay to shop around if you wish to try it.
