Yet another sample received from glossy box. Well, two to be exact! I have been sent both the water fuse and premium versions. Down to business.
Water Fuse - £18 50ml
Premiun - £24 40ml (Sneaky!)
I've never used a BB cream before. I don't use liquid foundation as a rule as I feel it sits too heavy on my skin. I'd looked at BB cream before but wasn't sure, so didn't part with the pennies. I want to start by saying, first and foremost, I couldn't tell the difference between the two. So if you are going to buy, buy the cheaper one. Save yourself a fiver, and get more for your money!
Comes in a squeezy tube and is of quite thin consistency. It did settle in really well to my skin and provided a really nice and even coverage. Coverage was light. It didn't look like I had anything on my skin, but it really did dull down my bags and even out my somewhat erratic skin tone. It provided a lovely light base for my foundation. I've only used it under the bare foundations but the did sit lovely on top of it. I would recommend giving it five minutes to sink into the skin.
This product has prompted me to do something that I don't usually do. I don't wear make up every day, especially to work. But now, if I'm looking a bit pasty or uneven I stick this on over my moisturiser in the morning. It just evens out my skin a bit and helps me look more human when I leave the house, without having to pile on a full face of make up.
I'm really impressed with this product. I've got enough to be getting on with but as soon as they are finished then it's likely I will be replacing it.
I had heard good things about Dr. Jart Water Fuse Beauty Balm on blogs and thought I would try it. It is available from Boots for £18 for 50ml.
What is 'BB' Beauty Balm?
It moisturises, protects and corrects flawed skin tone. It reduces the need for foundation by bluring and correcting the skin tone. BB is your moisturiser, sunscreen and treatment serum in one helping skin look smooth and natural. BB cream is one of Asia's 'wonder' beauty products.
According to Dr Jart; Advanced Water Bead Technology helps hydrate and maintain healthy moisture for a dewy, fresh look. The product is oil-free, and the BB cream minimises the need for foundation or concealer. With SPF 25 there is suncreen protection for simple, balanced, one-step skincare coverage.
The BB cream contains:Suncreen to help protect the skin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice slows the loss of water from the skin and Portulaca Oleracea Extract to soothe, calm and for anti-redness.
The BB cream can be applied to clean dry skin as a moisturiser to create a base for makeup or act as a tinted moisturiser for those with good skin. The product is fairly thick in consistency, like oil paint but this disperses when it is rubbed into the skin.
It provides a light coverage of product on the skin, but the colour of the product is quite dark, almost a sandy colour. When it is applied it does look a little blotchy and patchy on my skin, even when I have rubbed it in well and I was horrified to see I had a tideline around my jaw. This is definitely a product to apply with a mirror! Luckily the colour does tone down slightly within 5 minutes or so, but I still felt the overall colour was a little too dark/tanned for my warm ivory skin tone.
The product leaves a dewy look on the skin, which does help to make you look more healthy, but is not something for people who suffer with excess oil. I tend to use this as a base and then apply concealer to blemishes for a simple look whilst at work. The products I subsequently use apply well to the skin. The BB cream is fairly long wearing on the face, the light coverage last for around 6 hours before wearing off.
A pleasing feature of this BB cream is the SPF 25, so at least it is helping to protect the skin for damage. I have not had any irritation from this cream and it has not blocked my pores.
Overall, this is more of a product for people with good skin tone who would like some colour. I have tried Garnier's BB cream and found that the results were pretty similar. I do not think I will buy this again as it is quite expensive and I was not very satisfied with the results.
I've tried a few BB creams but Dr. Jart's Water Fuse BB is the best I've used.
I was really pleased to have received this in a beauty box, although I hadn't heard of the brand before. A few days later I spotted it in Boots so it is easily available on the high street.
Packaging - The product came packaged in a shiny cardboard box with a sticky out bit of card with information on. Inside, there is a tube that is the same colour as the box, which is a beautiful pale metallic blue. The tube is well made, easy to use and allows you to use up all of the product.
Product description -
Oil-free hydrating moisturiser
Water holding system
Sunscreen and Aloe
Hides uneven skin tone and blemishes
It is a soft creamy liquid that moisturises and covers your skin. It contains SPF 25 so it will protect your skin from weather too. This product has a lovely combination of concealing, moisturising, protecting and hydrating.
It feels soft on your skin after applied and you don't need to use too much for it to work. It's kind of like a tinted moisturiser but with much more kind to skin ingredients.
Unfortunately I am really pale so it wasn't the right shade for my skin. However, I can still use it either mixed with my light foundation or a plain moisturiser.
I do find it doesn't leave the skin matte, it's quite shiny but that is easily sorted once you have applied a powder on top. It is perfect for a hot day when you don't want heavy foundation, because it is light and breathable.
If this was my exact shade I would love it, but as I'm painfully pale this shade should be right for most people's skin. It only comes in this shade which is slightly disappointing.
I have a review on my blog about this product, so feel free to read this too and my other beauty reviews:
This is a review of the Dr. Jart BB Beauty Balm water fuse cream. I was pleased to receive a generous 15ml sample tube of this cream in a beauty box recently. I had loved the premium gold tube I recently reviewed from the same range and was interested to see how the water fuse would compare.
Packaging / the claim
The tube is green plastic with a white screw top lid and this then comes packaged in a box too. I like the tube as you can squeeze out every last bit.On the box, the three advantages of the product are listed as: perfect cover; UVA/UVB protection and that it is ideal for sensitive skin.
You are advised to apply the product to cleansed and toned skin. One layer gives me enough cover for a natural daytime look but you can build it with a second layer for more cover. I find a small pea sized amount is enough to do my face, jaw and neck and I use the leftover bits to do under eyes and around my nose to cover redness.
I love this as an alternative to foundation and feel that it has good moisturising properties for my face. The colour adapts to my skin tone like magic which is amazing as it only comes in one colour. I don't feel it cloggs up my skin at all and it is oil free. The water holding system in this BB cream is fresh and hydrating on my skin. An added bonus is the sunscreen and aloe.
I love this as much as the premium version I have tried and would be happy to use either version on a regular basis. It is marketed as being particularly suitable for over 30's skin and is apparently Asia's wonder product. I find it easy to wear on its own as an everyday quick fix on my uneven skin tone. It takes the edge off being ghostly pale without giving skin a made up look.
Boots sell this in a 50ml tube for £18.
I am seriously considering using my mounting Boots points to buy a tube of this. I do think it is expensive but a little bit goes a long way so a tube would last ages. I feel like I have stumbled upon a little known but real beauty find and can heartily recommend it to those after a natural look that helps you make the most of your skin in minimal time.
