When it comes to exfoliating products, namely scrubs, I prefer smaller, grittier particles over the larger, smoother ones you find in some scrubs. As long as I use a light hand I find that they clean a lot deeper into the pores than the larger ones that simply seem to skin over the surface of them. I also like them to be in a creamy, moisturising base. So recently whilst searching for a good, promising exfoliator to even out my skintone I was shocked to find one that seemed like it would be perfect for me - Dr. Nick Lowe's "Cell Renew Dermabrasion Peel".
Dr. Nick Lowe is an internationally known dermatologist with over 30 years of experience. He strongly believes that the secret to youthful looking and healthy skin lies in a simple yet regular skincare regime. With that in mind and years of research he has developed a range of technically advanced products for 'normal' women.
"Cell Renew Dermabrasion Peel" promises to reveal a 'softer, brighter and more radiant complexion'. The creamy peel uses gentle spherical beads to 'smooth skin, purify pores and stimulate cell renewal'. It is enhanced with the 'anti age Cranley complex' to gently lift away impurities and dead skin cells without stripping the skin of it's essential oils. It claims that from only the first use skin is left smoother and visibly brighter.
It uses a combination of active ingredients to protect skin from the visible signs of aging and the damaging effects of the sun and pollution. Ingredients include:
Pomegranate and Raspberry known for their superior anti-oxident properties; Ferulic Acid, a naturally derived phytochemical to protect against UV damage and Vitamins A, C and E to maximise skin absorption at a cellular level... Bold words and lots of science! I was excited to try this out :-)
It is packaged in a simple, sophisticated white tube with a screw top lid. The box it comes in is equally as simple looking - blue and white but with lots of useful information and tips. It has a shelf life of 12 months, retails at £10.72 and is available from Boots.
I use after cleansing my face, rubbing it gently onto damp skin. Using upward circular motions I apply a little more pressure to the forehead and nose (the areas of my face that tend to get more congested than the rest) before rinsing well with tepid water.
The particles are very small, feeling almost like sand so you have to be careful not to overdo it as it has the potential to irritate (especially very dry or sensitive skins). For that reason I only use it about once a week or twice at the most, but that for me is long enough to make a visible difference to me.
Immediately after use my skin feels very clean, much smoother and a little tauter and plusher. Moisturiser absorbs a lot better after using this too and any makeup applied on top looks fresher and smoother. So far, so good but the results over time have proved even more impressive! The overall tone of my skin is more even; I rarely suffer from patches of oily or superdry skin anymore and I breakout considerably less. My skin just generally feels a lot better now! Smoother and softer and if it does start to feel congested again a tiny amount of this product sorts it out in no time :-)
I havn't experienced any negative effects after using "Cell Renew Dermabrasion Peel" for over 8 months, except maybe the fact that I do have to moisturise a little more than usual after using it, and I wouldn't really call that a bad thing anyway.
I would recommend this to anyone of any age - 20's, 30's, 40's and everyone else! As mentioned I have been using this for around 8 months now and I still have some left so it's great value for money too.
