Advantages: Really good for sensitive skin
Disadvantages: It's lack of smell - but this has a purpose
Having suffered from dry skin and eczema for years I have tried all sorts of topical ointments and oral medications to try to rid myself of these awful patches. Knowing that prolonged use of steroid creams can thin the skin (probably too late on the front), I have became a staunch user of E45.
When doctors prescribe any kind of emollient they tend to go for the greasy ointments that stain, and frankly feel gross to use (they do work but still not a nice sensation). With E45 it's gentle enough that the whole family can use it. E45 is nice and non greasy, and is quickly and easily absorbed into the skin. I use it for eczema, and it can also be used on dermatitis and other dry skin conditions.
Personally I really like the pump topped packages as they can be left strategically place points around the home, and you can get a nice sized 'portion' in an easy fashion - I find this encourages me to use it after going to the bathroom for example as it's so little fuss to use.
At points when my skin is particularly sensitive I can use it to wash in, and although the smell isn't unpleasant it smells well of nothing really. It's maybe mildly plastic - but that could be from the container? (For me this is a downside as I like to smell like a fruit salad in the morning after my shower, but it really does sooth the skin when it's playing up).
They have a wide range of products for those of us with sensitive skin, including shower gel, bath emollients and shampoo. Definitely worth a look if like me sometimes your skin just won't take any more chemical shower gels on it.
Summary: Really good for sensitive skin
