As a BzzAgent, I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to test products for free in return for spreading the word about them to others. (It's not a paid job, sadly, but a nice way to try stuff for free. Anybody interested can sign up online at www.bzzagent.co.uk) My latest campaign has been for E45 body lotions and I was lucky enough to receive two full sized bottles of both the lightly fragranced 'Nourish & Restore' body lotion and this original (unscented) variety.
I must admit that I went straight for the scented version, having tried many unscented E45 products in the past. I must admit that these perfume free products are perfectly functional and, certainly in this case, very effective but they are not the most exciting of products. The rather bland packaging seems to re-emphasise this point, with the basic looking branding changing little (if at all) over the years. The predominantly white sturdy plastic bottle with a flip top lid is certainly a practical, if somewhat dull design which dispenses the product easily and evenly.
The moisturising lotion itself is an attractive milky white colour with a pleasant consistency that I find easy to rub on to my skin. I am particularly impressed with how quickly the lotion is absorbed into my skin, almost instantly. I also like how that there is no greasiness or stickiness with this lotion, simply the feeling of instantly softened smooth skin without any unpleasant residue on the surface of my skin.
I have been using this primarily on my legs after shaving. I don't use any shaving gel, simply wet shave in the bath, and this lotion is the ideal consistency to soothe and soften my freshly shaved legs. Even used straight after shaving the lotion is very gentle and delicate and certainly doesn't cause any irritation or sting at all. The lotion is gentle enough for me to feel confident about using it on my two year old's delicate skin too.
I have had positive experiences with the E45 brand previously, as I have very dry sensitive skin with occasional flare ups of eczema. This lotion has simply reinforced my positive experiences. The lack of scent is not a major issue for me as I frequently use unfragranced products to avoid aggravating my sensitive skin. There is a faint chemically smell on first application but this soon fades and doesn't linger on my skin.
I've been using a conveniently sized 200ml bottle which is available from most supermarkets and chemists and I've even spotted it for sale in Home Bargains. This size is currently available from Boots instore and online for £4.85, which seems quite expensive. Fortunately, the same bottle can be picked up from Home Bargains for a much more reasonable £2.40, so that is where I will be heading to stock up on some more of this versatile product.
For anybody that wasn't lucky enough to try this as part of the Bzz Campaign, free samples and a money off coupon can be ordered from the E45 website:
