This is one of the products that I regret buying the most...not only was I silly enough to pay £27+£1.50 for this tub, but I was silly enough to fall for the initial hype surrounding it!!

On a very, VERY superficial level I was disappointed with the cheap looking packaging. For the price of nearly £30, I thought it wasn't an unreasonable expectation for them to put more thought into the packaging. It's basically a white tub that is 7cm in diameter, 6cm high with the lid accounting for 1cm of this and with a sticky label glued on around the outside. It's not a nice size to put into your makeup bag/standard handbag since it is pretty chunky! The label has a predominantly blue logo with a red pyramid next to 'EGYPTIAN MAGIC' and a list of ingredients underneath. On either side of this is a block of red text. The left hand side has the general product description plus a money back guarantee, the right hand side has, presumably the same text, but in Spanish.
I was understandably excited about this product - one look at the description and the video next to it, or even an article by major newspapers/magazines (take one peek at the endorsements page on their website...) and I'm hoping you'll understand why I decided to part with my money... Not only is this product popular in the media, it also received many glowing reviews from various forums and sites raving about how natural product is and how effective it was! You can probably tell by the tone of this review that I was pretty disappointed!
When you open the tub, you see a rather solid block of pale yellow product. Probably your first reaction will be that it will apply like an ointment because it looks so solid and dense. When you touch it though, it feels, literally, like oil. I was really surprised by this, and not only is it very light to the touch, a little push and you'll also notice that it's pretty soft...the evidence with mine being the dent...! It's really easy to apply onto the skin even if it feels a little weird - I've never rubbed oil into my skin before certainly!
I bought it because reviewers said that it isn't that greasy and absorbs into the skin quickly. I've found that it is really, really greasy and doesn't absorb into my skin easily! I've never tried it on my hair like they suggest, but I've tried it on my face and hands and really didn't like the heavy, oily look! As far as a moisturiser goes, there isn't nothing that a really cheap moisturiser can't do that this can! After the greasiness has finally gone, the skin does look less dry.
I also HATED the smell. Some people claim that there isn't much of a smell, I disagree...it really reminds me of glue (I just double checked to make sure...ew)! In small amounts you don't notice it as much, but get a waft of it in the tub and you'll be surprised! I also HATED the hard packaging...the product is soft, but it's more like a waxy substance and not like a cream that you can easy scoop out. The further down you go, the less you can manage to comfortable get some out since you're getting out only tiny, tiny bits at a time.
Having said this, even though I having been using this, the other female members of my family have. This has really confused me, especially since my sister decided to steal it for several months...which of course I didn't realise since I don't like the product. It makes me think that it must be working for someone!
I HATE this product, but I know people personally that really seem to like it. I would highly recommend you check out MakeupAlley to see the reviews that range from 100% hate to 100% love and worship if you want to consider buying this. Considering the ingredients, I really think this product is overpriced for what it's worth. I don't think there are UK sellers that sell these in smaller sizes, so please do your research before taking the plunge! It didn't work for me; I hate the packaging; I loathe the smell = I'm going to award it 2 stars out of 5!
I am always buying into the latest beauty crazes. It seems to me that if a celebrity buys a product that it cheap in terms of what they can afford then it must be good. Obviously they may just be being paid to say it's great but I still find it exciting.
While browsing online, I can across the Egyptian Magic cream. It is supposedly used by lots of celebrities including Madonna and Kate Hudson, as well as lots of supermodels and make up artists. It's appeared in Vogue and other top beauty magazines and was credited all over the internet. The product has been around for 20 years and had been selling largely on word of mouth which is always the sign of a good product in my eyes so I jumped onto Amazon and bought mine!
What does it do?
It might be easier to actually say what this cream doesn't do. The list of purposes for this product is endless. It claims to do the obvious jobs that you would expect a cream to do such as moisturise the skin including the tough dry areas such as knees, ankles and elbows. It can also be used to soften both the hands, cuticles and the lips, strengthen the nails, be used as an after sun product and it can be used to treat insect bites.
The cream also claims that it can help to reduce the appearance of scars, spots, stretch marks and even bruises while promising to heal uncomfortable skin conditions such as eczema. In addition to all that, it can be used to soothe cuts and scraps and it can even be smoothed onto the hair as a mask to make it softer and in a better condition. What makes all this even more impressive is the fact that it contains only natural ingredients. It can be used on men, women and children including babies.
How does it work?
The ingredients are all completely natural and it's the bumble bees who have worked hard to produce this product. The little creatures have created all but one of the ingredients inside the tub.
The product contains Olive Oil which has been used for thousands of years to treat the skin. It is an antioxidant so it prevents premature aging and it's extremely moisturising for the skin, nails and hair so it keeps them all in a good condition. It also helps to remove eye make up gently due to its consistency and it works towards reducing the appearance of stretch marks.
Beeswax is present because it forms a barrier across the skin which keeps moisture in and pollutants out. This means that the skin stays hydrated and that cuts and scraps are protected from external factors. It is also an antibacterial substance so it kills the bacteria and germs on cuts and rashes, and it is an anti-inflammatory so it will soothe puffy skin.
Bee Pollen is also included to nourish and detoxify the skin which keeps it looking younger for longer. It also moisturises the skin and encourages the development of healthy new skin cells. It tones the skin and gives hair a healthy shine. Bee Propolis is also in the mixture which is the substance bees use to coat the outer casing of their nest and serves much the same purpose as the Beeswax.
Honey is another substance which has been used for thousands of years and this time it's due to its healing properties. It is an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and performs a cleansing action so it can heal cuts, bruises, stretch marks and quickly and effectively. It helps to prevent premature aging due to it drawing water into the skin and it is very nourishing too. Royal Jelly is present due to its anti aging, healing and antiseptic qualities. It is moisturising, evens out the skin tone and rejuvenates the hair, skin and nails.
I should probably mention that the final ingredient is listed as being Divine Love, make of that what you will!
How do you use it?
The product comes in a solid but soft waxy form. As it heats up when it comes into contact with the skin, it turns into an oil that is much easier to use. You scoop a small amount out of the tub and rub it between your fingers until it melts. Once it's an oil, you can apply it to whichever areas need to be treated, whether that's your hair, skin, nails or cuts.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a white circular tub will a screw top lid which allows easy access to every last drop. The decoration of the tub is blue and red, and the white writing explains that this is 'The Ancient Kamitians' Secret Magical Cream'. There is also a money back offer if you're not happy which demonstrates that they are confident about the quality. The product itself has a slight honey colour and a very waxy consistency. It smells mainly of honey with an edge of wax but it is largely inoffensive and isn't strong enough to be off putting to anyone.
118ml of this product will cost you around £25 but it is very long lasting. I bought mine from Amazon and it is available from quite a few online websites but as far as I'm aware they don't sell it in high streets shops or department stores.
The product is free from any artificial ingredients, fragrances or colouring meaning that this product is completely natural. It has never caused any discomfort, irritation or itchiness on my sensitive skin and unless you have a bee related allergy, it should be fine on all skins. A tiny amount goes a long way so be careful that you don't over use and waste the product because once it has melted, you can't put it back in the pot.
This product is amazing on the rough, dry skin on my knees and ankles. Despite being initially greasy, it is absorbed by my skin within a few minutes completely. It leaves a slight sheen on the skin but it doesn't feel sticky as I thought it would when reading the ingredients. I've used it on my legs and arms too and it is extremely nourishing and leaves my skin incredibly soft and smooth. I've found that it prolongs my tan too as it prevents my skin from becoming dry and flaky. I've also used it on sunburn and it felt soothing and calmed my skin.
I've read a lot of reviews that say it is fantastic on the face even if you have spot prone and oily skin like mine. As it is antibacterial, moisturising and comes with healing qualities, it should help to heal acne but the thought of putting a pure oil on my face is too scary. I'm waiting for a few days when I don't have to leave the house in order to try this in case it all goes wrong.
The product contains many of the same ingredients as a lip balm so it performs very well. It heals chapped lips, hydrates them and allows them to retain the moisture. It gives a nice shine to the lips, and doesn't taste bad although it's not one of those products that you would be tempted to lick off.
Make up remover
The product is fantastic at removing eye make up, including waterproof products. It is gentle on the skin and doesn't drag the delicate area. I rub a small amount of oil onto the area and then wipe it away with cotton wool. Baby oil does just an equally good job though so I wouldn't buy the product just for this purpose.
I have used the product as a hair mask over night by melting and smoothing the oil onto the ends of my hair and then wrapping it in a towel to protect my pillow. It was fairly easy to wash out in the morning although my hair looked a little greasy and weighed down. However, after I washed my hair the next time I noticed a difference in the condition. It was shinier, felt stronger and there was less frizziness on the ends.
Nails and cuticles
When used daily on this area, I saw a massive improvement. I've never really managed to grow my nails before because they snap so easily but they seem to be much stronger because of this product. It makes my cuticles soft and my hands are in a better condition.
Cuts and scrapes
I only used the product on scratches really but it doesn't sting at all. I'm not sure if it healed the area any quicker but the scratch was gone within in a few days. I think this would be handy to use on children however because it's gentle, natural and gives a barrier of protection. It could be used under a plaster to start off the healing process.
I loved using this product for this purpose. Mosquitoes took a liking to my legs while on holiday and it left me with unsightly and itchy red bumps on my legs when I got home. The product, when applied periodically, stopped the itching, reducing the inflammation and got rid of them far quicker than if I have left them alone.
Scars and stretch marks
I only have few tiny white stretch marks on my hips and a few little scars but I have been using the product on the areas daily to see if I can get rid of them. I've noticed them becoming slightly fainter although they are still obviously there but I think with continued use, they would fade further. I don't get the impression that they will completely fade away.
All in all, this product serves so many purposes for the whole family that it is hard not to like it. It isn't something that I carry around in my hand bag and I mainly use it at night time before going to bed but I have found it an increasingly handy product to have in the house. It has improved the condition of my skin, nails and hair and it gives a barrier of protection to my cuts. You won't see fast results on scars or stretch marks but you will see results which is always good news. This is a multi purpose protect that is worth the high price tag in my opinion.
