I have troubled skin in the form of slight blemishes and slightly oily skin, especially when under stress.
This was recommended by a dermatologist that swears by it although I went to her about another and it really helped her giving me her honest advice.
This I use as a stand alone product or with the LAVENDER TONER [reviewed also]
Although this says LIME you would expect it to be strong but this is LIME BLOSSOM extract with aims to soothe, repair and balance your skin.
I would highly recommend this for anyone who struggles with calming their skin. Although this is a great product it took one month to soothe and combat the blemishes I had but once the change in my skin took place, having used this regularly I then suffered no problems if I did it was slight, not as red and disappeared quickly.
Alongside the lavender toner, this worked even better, so if you have really stubborn skin than this is more effective.
I received comments that my skin didn't look red, flustered or stressed and it was a relief to hear that.
Massaging this into the skin and taking time helps, I'm not sure why but the website, TIMETOSPA.CO.UK suggests circular movements and upwards only and I did switch to this not having given too much thought to it before, I believe it helped my skin absorb it more effectively.
This retails at £22 for 200ml, although if you buy this in a DUO pack with the toner you get 37% off. Or alternatively you can try EBAY with does great sample sizes at great prices.

This is a gorgeous smelling cleanser from a well known British brand.
Being in a pump action bottle means only a little of the liquid gets used at a time ? a great save as this is quite expensive to start with.
The aroma with this cleanser is beautiful ? a lovely fresh and natural sort of smell. I do not get a citrus sort of smell but more a natural ''sap'' sort of smell ? gorgeous.
You only need a small blob of this cleaner ? it leaves your skin feeling lovely and sort and not at all taut ? but the smell is the best part, almost as nice as perfume and the smell wafts around withyou.
It is a really good cleanser and easily removes make up leaving your face feeling lovely and fresh.
The product is designed for combination of congested skin types and is a product that both I, in my 50s, and my son in his 20s, can both use.
It is my son who actually put me onto this product after having it recommended to him by a friend.
The cleanser contains lime blossom extract, lecithin and Vitamin E.
The cleanser is recommended to be used twice a day and applied with light fingertip massage and then to remove excess with cotton wool. However I like to use the product with a damp cotton wool pad.
The nicest cleanser I have ever used, the only downside is the price.
It works well on my more mature skin and my son loves it too - being in his early 20s his skin is still quite greasy and prone to the odd blemish and he swears by this product.

Elemis lime balancing
I bought the Elemis balancing lime blossom cleanser as part of a set a couple of years ago, I gave away some of the items as gifts, and kept a couple for myself, this being one of them. Normally this cleanser would cost more than I would be willing to pay for something you wash down the plug hole, but as it was part of a good offer it practically came free. You retails at about £19 per 200 ml it is available fairly widely on the internet and Elemis spas, presently it can be bought for £15.52 at Lookfantastic.
"This uniquely textured, fresh scented lotion is brimming with active extracts of Lime Blossom to help naturally balance and repair the skin. Ideal for balancing combination or teenage skin types prone to breakouts".
How the product looks etc.,
I love how this cleanser looks in the clear soft touch plastic pump bottle, it is a pure soft white, and looks the same on dispensing. The dispenser releases just the right amount for me to cleanse my face and neck. Once pumped out the texture is almost like a smooth double cream, it's not runny but it doesn't sit in a quivering mound on my fingers either. The smell is beautiful, fresh and fragrant but not a strongly perfumed scent, it just smells natural and clean.
How I use
As instructed I apply this to my face with my fingers working it over the skin into all the little nooks and crannies around my nose etc. You can remove it with dry cotton wool or similar, or as I prefer a warm moist muslin cloth or flannel (or just moisten the cotton wool/gauze)
How it feels on my skin
My skin tends to be oily or comination so I wouldn't normally choose a cream cleanser but as I got this kind of free I went with it. The way it feels on my skin confirms that cream cleansing products don't really suit me. It feels as if it's sitting on top of my skin rather than getting all dug into the make up and dirt (perhaps this has a high water content and the cleansing ingredients aren't enough to break up the oil). After working on my skin for a while it does seem to start shifting things, but it doesn't feel nice there's a kind of artificial almost silicone feeling to it. I think this feeling is mainly because I have oily skin, because on my youngest who has dry skin if just feels like most other cream cleansers.
How it performs
When I wipe it off if I'm not wearing make up, which is usually the case, then there is not much apparent on the cloth, however my skin does look and feel clean. I wouldn't expect much grime to be apparent when at home and not wearing make up as I live in a fairly rural area and don't spend much time near traffic. Of course there is dirt to be picked up in rural Wales but not the airborne pollution I might find in Swansea for example (I did notice a marked difference in the dirt removed when cleansing my skin - with other products - when I worked in Swansea years ago). If I am wearing make up it removes the face make up easily, but waterproof mascara and eyeliners prove quite problematical for it. It will get a bit off but if I insisted on just using this I would be there all night reapplying and rubbing off. So this means that I have to use a separate eye cleansing product.
Something that I really had to do with this cleanser and never have to bother with normally is using a toner. Now if I'm left feeling a little oily after using other cream cleansers a splash of water is normally enough to leave my skin feeling freshened and free of oily traces. Not with this, luckily there was a sample size of the balancing lavender toner in the gift pack too, which I carefully hid from my girls so it lasted me for the duration of using the cleanser. If I skipped using the toner my skin didn't feel soft and clean it just felt greasy and as if it needed a good scrub. After using the toner though this feeling disappeared and my skin did feel nice and clean and fresh.
I and my daughters used the cleanser right to the bottom of the bottle... I didn't buy it for us all, but it appears that in our house what's mine is theirs and what's theirs is theirs. Sadly once we had finished the bottle none of us noticed any difference to the condition of our skin as far as balancing any tendency to breakouts, or dry patches, or excess oiliness.
Although this product smells beautiful, and the minimalistic packaging looks lovely on the shelf I wouldn't buy it again, as on my skin it didn't do what it claimed, and would have increased the amount of products I have to purchase as it made a toner after use and separate eye make up remover essential. If I was going to splash out on a non 'drugstore/highstreet' creamy cleanser again I would definitely opt for Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish, as this is one creamy cleanser works well for all my family we love it... Ooo I feel another review coming on...
I would have to say that this is one of my essential beauty products, because of my combination skin are found it difficult to get products that best suit and complements my skin type without causing a reaction to them. As with most elemis products its a little on the pricey side, however, it will last a long time. I find that a standard 250 mil bottle will last me around six months using it twice a day.
It comes in a tall bottle with a pump dispenser and has and light green tinge to it. It smells absolutely divine. It is quite a thin cream I think this helps to make it last longer is it much easier to spread across your face. I would recommend you did it this way rather than putting on cotton wool pad otherwise you will use a lot more because it will soak into your pad really quickly. It's really soothing on the skin and has an instant refreshing feel to it. After applying the right off the up cotton wool pad, and I can guarantee you if you look at the cotton wool pad after you will be amazed at what has come off your face.
It leaves your skin feeling plump and refreshed are most definitely clean. It does not stay on the skin, giving you a greasy feel at all. You skin just feels soft and dewy after use. This product manages to be really tough product getting the job done well, but also be sensitive and gentle to the skin. All in all a winning combo
This elemis lime blossom cleanser is my saviour when it comes to balancing my acne prone skin. I have always suffered from breakouts and I have tried an array of products but I think this is by far the best I have ever tried.
The cleanser is a thick cream and is pale green in colour and comes in a pump dispenser. I have found that two squirts is enough for massage into your skin. The directions say to massage in circular motions and this cleanser is mild enough to be gentle to your skin but is strong enough to remove your make up. After massaging into the skin the directions say to soak a cotton pad in water to remove the cleanser. I find doing this is a really good feeling, making my skin feel fresh and clean. It is amazing what comes off. I always follow with the balancing lavender toner and that removes the last traces of the cleanser.
Elemis lime blossom cleanser comes in a 200 bottle and contains lime blossom egg yolk extract sunflower seed and corn oil making it gentle to skins prone to breakouts.
I tried this and the lavender toner on a whim when I was pregnant as I was desperate to find something to calm my skin and this worked and I have never looked back since. Within the first use my skin looked clean and bright and within a few more days of using it morning and night my skin had completely changed with the spots disappearing! It made my very happy indeed. When I have used a different cleanser my skin has suffered and I have always returned to this one.
Elemis products are on the expensive side and this cleanser retails at approximately £17 so not cheap. However elemis products regularly have good gifts with purchase or deals on QVC. In January several retailers had BOGOF with the cleanser and toner so with some shopping around it can be made a bit more affordable.
I love the Elemis range, and this cleanser along with Soothing Apricot Toner and Day Cream are now part of my twice daily cleansing ritual. I have never tried any of the other skincare products but thats due to these fitting my skin type.
I have combination, hormonal skin. So whenever it is 'that time of the month' I am prone to breakouts. This cleanser seems to be quite effective at making sure these breakouts arnt as severe as they used to be.
Its a very rich cream cleanser with quite a light fresh fragrance, the 200ml bottle seems to last me ages as a little goes a long way if you use with a damp cotton pad.
It is quite expensive approx £16 but this is to be expected from such a well known brand such as Elemis, I initially decided to try this brand after a beautician informed me this was all they would use on their own skin....so if its good enough for them...
I would suggest going to a counter in a department store and asking for a facial or some samples to see which products would be best for your own skin type, but definaltely a product i will be sticking with
I love Elemis, but I'll be honest and say that this is not my favourite cleanser. There are those who love to wash with water and those who hate the drying effect that water has on their skin. I like both types of products as they have different effects on the skin, but I wouldn't recommend a cream cleanser like this one if you love the feel of water on your face. I would ALWAYS follow a cleansing routine with a toner, however, I do that to remove any residue and to re-balance the skin. However, some products are very effective at removing all dirt and make-up etc, whilst keeping the ph balanced and do not require it. But I would always recommend a toner with a cream type cleanser as they tend to be more prone to leaving behind residue.
For some reason I found that this cleanser broke me out in spots. However, to be fair, although I have combination skin I am prone to reactions from certain ingredients and may be more suited to the sensitive version of this cleanser for that very reason. I prefer the sensitive gel wash from Elemis for my skin type, but I'm sure that this product has many fans as it's beautiful to use and the effects look lovely, until my sensitivity issues kick in. For those with general combination skin may not suffer from this reaction however.
One of the reviews said that there is cucumber extract. I work at an Elemis Spa and i know there is no cucumber extract. I also use the products and the smell you smell is the lime blossom. It is not overbearing it is mild and nice. The product transformed my skin. I had oily skin but dry spots b/c the products I was using were drying out my skin. Now my skin looks great! You get the best result when you use it twice a day. The products are expensive but they are worth it! I also like to wash my face with water when i clean it but i just use the Skin Buff product once or twice a week and I get my water need met.
Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser is THE BEST cleanser I have tried. I have used clarins, clinique, Lancome and REN face washes, but none of them suited my skin type 100%(sensitive & combination). The cleanser does not smell strongly, melts away into your skin and is easily removed. I like to use water on my face, so I prefer to remove the cleanser with a Kanebo facial foam square, I think they call it a "chief sponge". The sponges are pricey at around £7.00 however, they do save you money when you think how much can spend on cotton wool pads. The sponges are washable too.
This product is another one of those salon face cleansers in a cream form, as opposed to those foam cleansers. Cream cleansers have an advantage over foaming cleansers in a sense that you can massage the lotion onto dry skin, thereby promoting good circulation and gently removes any dirt and make-up, and the cream formula means that it won’t tighten the skin after washing like some detergents do. If you don’t like to wash your face over the sink, then you can remove this product with a wet cotton wool pad. I like the feel of water on my skin, so I usually wash this product off with a wet muslin cloth. It also helps that this product is water-based, so it is easily removed by water. This cleanser contains cucumber and lime blossom extract and vitamins E and F to help balance the skin and create a radiant complexion. To be frank, I can’t smell the lime blossom at all, but there is a distinct crisp smell of cucumber extract, which I love, and it’s known to soothe the skin. As I sometimes suffer from redness on my cheeks due to extreme weather conditions, this cleanser really helps in soothing and calming my skin. It doesn’t say whether it can be used to remove eye make-up and if I were to use heavy make-up during the day, I wouldn’t rely on this cleanser. I would normally remove heavy make-up using Roc’s cleansing wipes first, and then finish my cleansing routine with Elemis Lime Blossom cleanser over the sink. I would say this is a very light and soothing formula which is suitable for even the most sensitive of skins and perfect for the summer because of the cooling effect of the cucumber. This product is quite similar to The Body Shop’s Cucumber cleanser which I also adore.
This is one of the best cleansers I've ever tried. Not that I would have tried it if it wasn't part of a gift set from Elemis, because I really don't like lime. This doesn't smell very much of that at all - although it does have a really clean, fresh scent from the flower water which is one of the main ingredients. It's quite hard to find cleansers (as opposed to face washes) for oilier skin, so I was very pleased to discover this. It's a very light lotion which feels really nice on the skin. It emulsifies and removes even the heaviest make-up very effectively, but it very, very gentle. There is a sensation that the skin is purifified but not at all stripped by the essential oils in the product. This would also be suitable for someone with normal or dryish skin who wanted something very light.
