a lovely but expensive face mask

      ~Rejuvenating Mask~

Elemis is a spa and skincare brand who offer products which contain natural, active ingredients. As well as offering a range of cleansing and moisturising products, Elemis also offer two face mask products. Today, I will be discussing my use of the 'Elemis Fruit Active Rejuvenating Mask'.

This face mask is aimed at those with normal to dry skin types. It contains active ingredients of strawberry and kiwi fruit. Elemis promise that this face mask will provide your skin with a deep cleansing experience and will restore the glow to your complexion. They market it as being perfect for a skin pick-me-up before special occasions.

Elemis state that this face mask can be used up to twice per week. It should be applied to clean skin and left for 15 minutes before being rinses with warm water. This mask is presented in a simple white tube with a screw lid at the base.

      ~Where To Buy~

This face mask is available in a 75ml sized tube and can be bought from Elemis stockists both online and on the highstreet. The rrp of this mask is £28.00. Stockists include www.timetospa.co.uk (recommended via the Elemis website) and House of Fraser (£26.50).

      ~My Thoughts~

I have owned quite a few Elemis products over the past few years and whilst they are expensive, I do consider them to be worth the high cost. I received my 20ml tube of Rejuvenating Mask as part of a collection of travel sized products. Elemis often offer a range of smaller sized products when you make a few purchases - a great way to sample what they have to offer.

I normally use Montagne Jeunesse face masks which are £1.00 each so this face mask needs to be much better to be worth it. I have been using it once a week for the past month and it really has made a difference to my skin. My skin is generally dry and has been rather dull looking for quite a while. It is nice to finally find a product which gives it a much needed boost.

      ~Revive and Rejuvinate!~

This face mask is easy to apply but I wasn't quite sure of how much to apply the first time - it really is trial and error. A tube is the perfect packaging for this type of product and I find it easy to dispense. The mask itself is thick and creamy with an off white appearance. There is a light, fruity sweet aroma from it but I would have preferred a stronger scent. It does smell natural.

The first time I used this face mask, I tried to slather it on like I would a regular face mask. I found that the cream started to absorb into my skin rather than sit like a regular mask. I added extra but to be honest, only a thin layer of mask is needed each time. It is important to just skim the mask over the surface of the skin rather than rub it in like a moisturiser as it starts to go a bit firm if massaged right into skin. The thick cream spreads well and isn't messy to apply. I found applying this mask to be a rather comforting experience as it felt cool on my skin and very light. Once applied, it looks like suncream but when it hasn't been fully rubbed into skin. The mask clings to the dry patches on my forehead a little.

Whilst on my skin, I didn't experience any tingling or heat from the mask. It wasn't a relaxing experience nor was it an unpleasant experience. I could apply this and watch TV or do chores without noticing it was there. If I ran my fingers over my cheeks, I could tell that my skin was silky smooth and the mask was absorbing perfectly. I have left this mask on for between 15 and 30 minutes with no issues. I'm not overly strict with timescales but the 30 minute time was more down to someone phoning rather than me wanting the mask on my face for longer than the recommended time!

Rinsing this face mask off was a simple and straightforward experience. I applied a small amount of warm water to my fingers and massaged my skin which resulted in a small amount of lather being created on the surface of my skin - rather theraputic. I wiped the lather off with a damp flannel. Like with other face masks, my skin felt a little tight after patting my skin dry. This feeling soon subsided and my skin was left feeling beautifully comfortable.

Results wise, this face mask performs incredibly well. It is the perfect pick-me-up and my skin is left feeling soft and smooth to the touch. My skin feels cleansed deep down and very healthy and refreshed though my forehead doesn't benefit from any moisturisation with this product so I do apply a slither to this area. The rest of my face is a little less dry and doesn't need any additional moisturiser. The main benefit of this face mask is how my skin looks after applying it. Compared to cheap face masks, my skin is left in much better condition. It works wonders at leaving my skin looking very healthy and my complexion more even and glowing without any residue or shine.

The results last well too hence why I only apply this once per week as opposed to twice. It provides an even base for make up and is very practical to use. I am happy to use it as a weekly mask rather than just for special occasions as it performs to a high standard.

      ~Worth A Try?~

I have used this for four weeks now and my 20ml tube still has enough for around three or four more applications. If my calculations are right, this means that a 75ml tube will offer around 25 applications. When I compared this to my usual Montagne Jeunesse face masks, it works out at nearly the same price in the long run but I obtain better results with the Elemis mask. It is something that I am likely to buy as a treat in the future when they have a promotion on or opt for another 20ml tube if it is included in the offer. I can recommend this face mask as my skin benefits greatly from it. My only issue aside from the high cost is that it doesn't do much for the dry patches on my forehead.

      Thanks for reading :)
