It may not seem like it but I do actually have a favourite face cream- Burts bees radiance range. I am however trying extremely hard to use up all the samples I have which Is why I have tried a few different products recently. **Product** Mine was a 15ml sample size so came in a squeezable tube . Elemis is quite a high end brand which I don't have very much experience off apart from their cleansing gel which to be honest I didn't think was that great. One thing I do know and like about the company is that they do not test on animals. **In use** This is to be applied to cleansed skin daily then followed with the serum which is in the same range. I am currently using it with cliniques 3 step program (minus the dramatically difference lotion)designed for dry to very dry skin. They seem to be working fine together and I have had no bad reactions. I have been using the other two products on and off for a long time so any problems would be with the cream. Now this is supposed to improve suppleness, firmness and elasticity I haven't noticed any difference in my skin that way but I don't think I have a problem there yet. My main aim from any face cream is that it helps moisturise my dry skin and stops it looking dehydrated which this product does and hopefully by using face creams it helps prevent the other problems. As face creams go you only need a small amount and this doesn't have a smell which I like . A 50ml tub of this costs £79 so I don't recommend. At that price I want my skin to look the same age as a babys!
I have tried many different moisturisers - both 'premium' and 'budget' but this is the one I always go back to. As previous reviews have said, first impressions are great. It is a well packaged product - classy without being showy. You would be happy to have this out on show in your bathroom. It is also a tub rather than tube so you can scrape every little last drop out - no waste whatsoever, always a bonus when it's an expensive product (a little does go a long way though) Being an Elemis product, you would expect it to be a good product but this really does deliver. It's a lovely light gel like texture that quickly melts into the skin. I have normal to dry skin and within about a minute of applying the product I can start to put on my make up. I find the product not only provides lasting moisture but also brightens my skin. I do not generally suffer from spots or blemishes but if I do have a breakout this product is soothing and calming. With regular use, I find my skin is smoother and more radiant. I don't have very sensitive skin and find I can apply this right up to the eye area without any puffiness. I use the product as both a day and night moisturiser but would say if you do have very dry skin you might want a different product for night - otherwise I would say this was suitable for any skin type. Definitely worth a try (especially if you can find it as part of a Today's Special Value on QVC)
It might be "marine cream" but unfortunately you don't get a hunky man in uniform either....but it's still a miracle worker in my book! First impressions do count, and the frosted white packaging with silver writing doesn't disappoint. It's one pot that you won't mind showing off on the bathroom shelf! At 26, my skin has yet to reach the "leather handbag" look, and I'm pretty good with sun cream and water but I do still have some early signs of ageing- most notably on my forehead and my "number 11" at the top of my nose as my mum calls it (thanks mum- I inherited it from you!). Formulated with Padina Pavonica (a type of marine algae hence the name Pro-collagen Marine Cream), the product claims to improve suppleness, firmness and elasticity. I began using the product just once daily as a night-cream then later on twice a day as I was so impressed with the results. It has a lovely fresh smell, which is slightly floral without being over-powering. I find that one fingertips worth of cream will cover my entire face. The reason I am so sparing with the product is that it glides on very easily and sinks in quickly, you simply don't need to cover yourself in a very thick layer (just as well given the price!) I noticed an improvement in my skin immediately- my face didn't have that "tightness" that it often has, but at the same time the cream didn't make my oily T-zone any worse (a major plus point as most anti-agers tend to make me a bit shiny) but this is clearly just a superficial effect. The real improvement came after about 2 weeks when the fine lines on my face began to look a lot less obvious! I would go as far to say that the lines on my forehead are barely visible now and my make-up no longer "feathers" into them which I think backs up my belief that they are reduced. I can't rave enough about how lovely my skin feels, the texture looks great- so smooth and also a lot brighter than it was. I haven't noticed any change in the elasticity of my skin, I think mainly because at 26, the sagging effect of ageing hasn't quite occurred yet. I have also read other reviews that state it hasn't worked so well on deep wrinkles which leads me to think that although this cream is marketed as a heavy-duty "anti-ager" it is perhaps better suited as a preventative measure or for younger skins who are just beginning to show signs of ageing. Either way, it works very effectively as a moisturiser- my mum (who has very dry skin) also uses it and loves it as much as I do. The ONLY disadvantage as far as I am concerned is the price, I would advise anyone considering a purchase of this cream to check out QVC as they very often have the cream in combination with other products at a price far less than you can buy direct from Elemis.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream I love trying beauty products and I especially like facial moisturisers. I must admit that when I hear and read all the hype of award winning products then I have a great desire to use them and achieve the award winning results! I was given a 50ml tub of this face cream as a gift. Elemis Pro-collagen Marine Cream comes in a white plastic tub with a silver screw top lid. The product comes in a sealed cardboard box. The cardboard used to produce the box can be recycled as can the plastic pot the cream comes in. When you open the cream for the first time the cream has a lovely fragrance. It smells very fresh with quite a distinctive smell of mimosa and a very light smell of rose. The cream is a pearly white in colour. The texture of the cream is extremely light, it is a fine cream and not at all thick. When applying the cream it feel light soft and as I said before it is nicely fragranced. It really is a treat to apply this face cream. It sinks into the skin really quickly and leaves skin soft to touch and very moisturised. A little of this cream goes a long way and I think this is due to the light texture of the cream. This is a day cream that is marketed to be anti-ageing. It is said to reduce wrinkles by 78% and increase skin hydration by 45%. It has won the Natural Health Beauty Cream award in 2010. The cream contains: Mimosa Absolute Padina Pavonica Porphyridium Rosa Damascena Chlorella Ginko Biloba The 50ml tub of this cream lasted me for nearly 2 months. It was a delight to use and although I did not notice any different in my fine lines I did notice a big change in the condition of my skin. My skin was much brighter than it had been before using this cream and also my skin looked plumper and was definitely more moisturised. I have no hesitation in recommending this cream and it is no wonder it has won awards. There is only one downside to this product - it costs £75 for 50mls. Not within my budget I'm afraid, but really if I could afford this cream then I would carry on using it. This cream is a lovely luxurious face cream.
Many people assume that Elemis' Pro Collagen Marine Cream is for older or mature skins. I'm 25 and have used this since I was 20. I had awful skin from acne and then from trying to 'dry' out my skin using much too harsh over the counter creams or supermarket remedies. My mum got this as a gift but thought it was too light for her skin and so she gave it to me. I did my research and found it to be a hugely popular spa brand and so I tried it and had brilliant results! It may be light in texture but is also amazingly nourishing. I noticed straight away that my skin felt comforted and not like an oil slick as some creams can be like. Naturally I felt maybe there was a cheaper alternative out there and so veered away from it for about a year and a half. After trying several less than worthy creams and lotions I returned to Elemis' Pro Col marine cream and haven't looked back since! My skin is soft and not scaly like it was, make up goes on well afterwards, it doesn't contain any nasty ingredients and isn't tested on animals so you can sleep well knowing that! What's more is that my mum noticed the huge improvement in my skin in a matter of weeks and so she is now as much of a lover of PCM as I am! Well recommended. Try it!
This is one of my treat products I only get as a gift or a major treat to myself due to its high price tag which is around 85.00 for a 50ml tub. However once got it lasts forever a 50ml tub will last me about six months. It comes in a tub rather than a bottle or tube so you can use every last bit and only use the amount you want, which will be a little as it spreads well. It has a wonderful scent to it but its very subtle so not overpowering. The cream soaks in almost immediately and does not leave any greasy residue or sensation on the skin. It seems to have an immediate plumping effect and your skin feels smooth and soft, with that kind of dewy feel. It makes your skin appear radiant and more even toned. It provides a great base for makeup application. This cream makes my skin feel pampered and I absolutely love it. Its also really refreshing on your skin. I can't comment on the anti aging aspect as luckily I'm not quite there yet, but my mother always taught me prevention is better than cure and I have not seen any deterioration in my skin whilst using this which has got be good. It is suitable for sensitive and combination skin as I have both and it it suits my skin well. In fact this cream is so good that even my husband commented on how good my skin looked and smelt now that is rare. The only thing letting this cream down is the price, yes it is a professional salon brand but it is marketed to individual consumers as well and it's an unrealistic price for most of us to pay for a face cream
I have tried quite a few items from Elemis and have found that overall, the quality is above and beyond other skincare brands. This cream certainly isn't cheap at £48 plus for just 30ml, but then Elemis is a luxury salon brand so I expect to have to pay a bit more. I never mind paying the higher prices for cosmetics and skincare as long as the cost reflects the quality. I first tried this as part of a special value kit from a shopping channel about a year ago. I had been looking at it for quite while and then when it came in a kit that cost a few pounds more than the cream on it's own, I couldn't resist. This cream is an anti-ageing moisturiser that can be used in the morning and at night. I am in my twenties and am always looking for anti-ageing products, but sadly, I find a lot of them heavy, gloppy and greasy on my skin. This was completely different. It has a lovely light, whipped like texture that sinks straight into the skin on application. You don't need to use too much and I didn't need to massage it into the skin, it just disappeared as I spread it across my face. I found this product very similar to Philosophy's hope in a jar, but even better. It has a soothing, gentle fragrance that is light and smells very natural. I can't describe what the smell is exactley but it is very uplifting and fresh. After using it my skin felt amazing and had the texture of silk. I know this product will probably be a bit too pricey for most and I only buy it when it's on offer or part of a good value kit, but it is definately worht the money if you can afford it. I loved and so did my mum who is in her early fifties and I find it very usual to find a product that works in two such different age groups, perticularly a moisturiser. I would tell anyone to try it and see for themselves, it really is a pleasure to use. Recently Elemis seem to be bringing it out in larger sizes too, which means that if you buy more in one go, you get a bit better value.
As a fan of the cleanser, toner and face mask products from Elemis I had been thinking about this product for a while, although I was put off by the price in case I didn't notice any difference. Also, as I am in my late 20's, I didn't know if this was designed for older ages. Following finding a 30ml version on ebay I have finally succumbed and purchased this moisturiser, and I am so glad I did. It is lovely, smells great and the product goes on brilliantly. As the Marine Cream doesn't leave a thick film (as long as you don't use too much product!), you can almost put make up on straight afterwards. You don't need much of the product therefore, even though it is expensive, it will last for a long time. The winter plays havoc with my skin however I have noticed a big difference from this product, my skin is once again smooth and hydrated following using this product morning and night.
This product has an excellent pedigree coming from Elemis, a leading luxury British spa and skincare brand launched in 1989, and has a lot going for it. The texture feels like angels kissing your skin (sorry for the hyperbole) but it really is lovely, it feels nourishing without being heavy and cloying. The smell is similarly divine, fresh, clean, scented without being 'perfumy'. Pro-collagens' light texture allows it to be quickly and completely absorbed into your skin, without a trace of greasiness. To be honest if this were simply a moisturiser and I could afford the price tag (see end of review) for skin comfort and suppleness alone, I would happily use it as my main moisturiser, as it does leave the skin with a soft well nourished plump feeling. However therein 'lies the rub' - This cream is sold as a high spec treatment anti-aging cream, with a firming effect. I have noticed that a lot of people who like this product say that their primary problem is very dry dull skin, (this is judging by other reviews I have read on sites selling the product), and this product is, in fact, an amazing moisturiser, very effective. I suspect that the people in the aforementioned reviews had lines and dullness that were primarily due to dehydration of the epidermis rather than 'general ageing'. However this moisturising effect is just a temporary plumping of the skin, which is what most moisturisers would do if you find the right non irritating texture for your skin. This cream has from my perspective no visible impact on depth or length of lines, open pores, or fine lines around the eyes or mouth. The cream may make the skin look a little more even or brighter in people who haven't previously used a skin care routine regularly, or who don't exfoliate, simple because of the hydrating effect - I feel that drinking more water and moisturising with a reasonable quality cream would achieve the same. I used this cream to the bottom of the pot, and enjoyed doing so. I waited, and waited for some difference to my skin to emerge. I have to say a very slight improvement did become apparent. There was a very subtle softer feel to my skin, with a little bit of a glow, but I can honestly say this is nothing I have not noticed with ordinary non anti-ageing simple moisturisers at a tenth of the price, or a glass of water and good nights sleep. Sorry Elemis I love you but for me this particular pot of loveliness is not worth the price tag. For me Pro-Collagen Marine Cream simply didn't do what it purported to, and that is leaving my skin looking 'younger' not just better 'for my age'. The size I purchased was the 50ml at I think it was £85 at the time; it was a good offer as you got lots of stuff free, full size frangipani monoi melt, plus some beautifully scented bath products and generous portion sample sizes of eye serum and some other products in the range. I was attracted to this offer as a favourite auntie who has been an angel adores (as do I) the frangipani monoi melt, so I sneakily bought the set to split, the pro-collagen cream for me and the rest for aforesaid aunt. The pro-collagen can currently bought in the 50ml size with no freebies at QVC for £73.50 plus p&p of £4.45 Zen Lifestyle Direct claims to have it for £65 after taking a £10 promotion off. The prices are correct as of February 2010.
I seem to be only giving reviews for really expensive products on here, which is a bit embarassing! BUT I am now a firm believer in 'you get what you pay for' and so what I do spend my cash on now has to really pay its way. And Elemis really does do that. I can't remember where I heard about it, or how brilliant it is, but it filtered through to me somehow and I was detirmined to try it. I managed to find a good (cheaper) supplier than going to a department store and then I began the acid test. To start with, it smells gorgeous. Well I think so anyway. I love the smell of it, which is not strong by any means. Just lovely. I apply it whenever I remember, morning and night time. Not sure if it is meant as a night time cream, but I use it then as I know this is the time when your skin is repairing itself at the fastest rate. It is a rich cream, but not heavy at all. It glides on and goes a long way. There is no need to ladle it on as it spreads out so well, which is just as well considering the price. I have noticed a definite improvement in skin appearance over the months. I find it hard to be specific about how, as I think these things are relative and subjective. I don't scrutinise my lines with a ruler. But I think you just know. Fine lines don't draw your eye so much, people remark how good your skin looks...(it happened today!!) - little things like that which I began to notice. I have been using it for over a year now and will continue to do so ad infinitum. No need to change, and I have my trusted source. I combine it with a good serum (Protect & Perfect by Boots, or Olay Regenerist) and that's me happy. If you fancy treating yourself just go for it. It's not one of the most sought after face creams for no reason. It's an expensive habit to acquire however, be warned. But it does last for ages and Baby Spice uses it, so it can't be that bad. She looks amazing. Like with all these expensive things ask for it for Christmas or Birthday. That way you can enjoy it for nothing and you'll be able to enjoy it guilt free. AND people will see how delighted you are. Everyone wins!
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Anti -ageing I was given an Elemis skin care gift box for Christmas and have been using it ever since. When I first got it decided to do a bit of research into the products that I had to see if they were any good. According to a 2003 Independent Clinic trial, the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Anti-Ageing claims to increase hydration by up to 45%, reduce the appearance of wrinkle depth by up to 78% and transform the complexion in 2 weeks!! Wow, if this worked it really would be a miracle cream. Elemis the company was founded in 1989. It actually came about by them identifying a gap in the spa and salon industry for a company that could provide a comprehensive service orientated range of advanced skin and bodycare, combined with a dynamic treatment offering. Now, according to their website, Elemis is the leading luxury British spa and skincare brand favoured by over 5.7 million spa-goers every year. Before I had even tried any of their products, Elemis always appeared to me to be a luxury product that was probably a bit more expensive than I was willing to pay. The packaging always looked very up-market and salon like and I had heard about their scientific formulations that must have cost a lot to produce. Since this product was free though I decided I couldn't grumble and decided to give it a go. Like I said the packaging is very spa like. The cream comes in a heavy frosted glass tub with a screw on lid. An E logo for Elemis is printed on the top of the tub and then the product name is written on the front. The tub I had as 30ml but it also comes in a 100ml tub. I had a quick look on their website to see how much it would be if I wanted to replace the cream and nearly fell over backwards. A 100ml pot is £125! So, is it worth it? Well, the special anti-ageing properties that it is made of is said to have a powerful lifting and firming effect to improve the skin's suppleness and elasticity. According to an article I read, collagen is the most abundant protein in mammals and is what supports most tissues and gives cell structure from the outside. It is also contained in certain cells as well and then this degrades it leads to wrinkles as it is generally responsible for skin strength and elasticity. So, if this cream contains collagen then I would think this is a good thing as it will replace the collagen that I am losing in my skin as the days go by and help to keep me wrinkle free. I have to say that I think the wrinkles on my forehead have got a little slighter after using this cream. I can't be certain, I don't think one cream can fix everything but it does seem to be having a little bit of effect which is good to know. The cream itself is a white colour and is very light to the touch. It glides onto the skin and goes on really easily and is not greasy afterwards which is nice. It has a slight fragrance which can probably be best described as a fresh, clean smell. Apparently in the cream is a dynamic combination of the marine algae Padina Pavonica, Rose and Mimosa Absoultes and Gingko Biloba Liposomes. This has been developed with leading doctors skincare specialists by targeting skin renewal actions, with proven collagen boosting plant and Marine actives to challenge the ageing process. I do like this cream but I don't think I would buy it again once my free tub has been used up. I think there are other creams on the market (I am a big Oil of Olay fan) that do just a good a job and hey, who wants to look 35 when you are really 95!
I am always on the look out for anti-ageing creams that actually work, so was thrilled when a family member treated me to a jar of Elemis pro-collagen cream. The cream comes in a square white and silver box and really does look very classy. Inside the box is a round glass jar with white and silver lid. Full marks for the tasteful packaging from me! I always like to read the information on the box and this one makes lots of impressive promises. Elemis state that this cream will give noticeable results in just 15 days, by reducing the depth of your wrinkles by up to 75% and increasing the hydration of your skin by up to 45%. Elemis also promise that the cream will an accelerated lifting effect through increased collagen support. Before I tell you what I think about the cream, let me explain how this cream works. The clue is in the name-marine. This cream contains Padina Pavonica, the protective coating of a brown algae found in the Mediterranean Sea. The algae attract water and is scientifically proven to improve collagen support and therefore improve the firmness of skin. The cream also contains Gingko biloba, rose and mimosa absolute that help provide protection from those nasty free radicals. I am always a bit sceptical when trying any cream that makes promises to firm up my skin, so wasn't expecting great things from this cream. The instructions for use tell you to use this cream after cleansing your skin and suggest you use the cream daily. I have been using this cream twice a day, once in the morning and once before I go to bed. The cream itself is amazingly light; in fact it's the lightest skin cream I have ever come across. It is very easily absorbed into the skin and I love applying it! It has a very subtle scent that is slightly floral, again full marks from me! On using the cream my skin feels immediately soft and hydrated. As I suffer from very dry skin, especially in the winter this is impressive. I have been using this cream for about a month now and my skin does look much less dry that previously. I have a few fine lines around my eyes and these to have diminished. I can't comment on how this cream would fare on deep wrinkles. Overall I am very impressed with this cream and will continue to use it. I find a little goes a long way, which is just as well given the price tag! Oh, didn't I tell you? This cream costs around £75 for a 50 ml jar! It is available from beauty salons selling Elemis products and some retailers on line.
