The Dark Side is the fourth and final special collection I will review by Enchanted. At first glance, I had assumed the Dark Side would be home to some spooky/ creepy scents, as I had associated the name with Halloween for some reason! Being a bit of a scaredy cat and afraid of ghosts and gouls, I had avoided this collection of scents until recently when my friend held an Enchanted party. At the party, all of the scents were passed around, and although the names of the fragrances were clearly labelled, I wasn't really sure which scent belonged to which special collection, which is how I finally stumbled across the Dark Side!
The name is actually nothing at all to do with anything spooky or scary. In fact the fragrances in this collection are all very sexy, provocative and sensual. I think they are all scents for night time seduction, which I guess may be why the collection has been called the Dark Side.
Here are the five scent descriptions for the fragrances in this collection, as taken from Enchanted's website (http://www.enchantedbath.co.uk):
"Sorceress: Weave a spell with top notes of black orchid, mid notes of Mysore sandalwood and clove on a base of cinnamon, amber, Tahitian vanilla, and Egyptian musk.
Enchantress: Fall under the spell of creamy milk chocolate and white flowers resting on a base of rich, dark chocolate and Madagascar vanilla - beautiful
Temptress of the Night: Amber, vanilla musk and a glass of warmed milk for bedtime.
7 Sins: Sinfully sexy, dark red wine, black cherry, sandalwood, teak and musk.
Magician's Mistress: This truely is an autumn night in a bottle, bonfire smoke, crisp toffee apples and brown sugar"
Having smelt them all, I found I quite liked four of these scents, but completely fell in love with the fifth- Enchantress. I immediately ordered a droplet in this scent- droplets are 1ml glass vials, currently priced at £1.75. This is a great way to try out a few scents and experiment to see which ones are right for you.
This is a delicious chocolate scent, and at first I thought it was going to be similar to Chocolate Truffle- this is a scrumptious scent on Enchanted's regular scent list. However on applying to my skin, I immediately noticed there is a world of difference between the two fragrances. Chocolate truffle is a sweet, rich, dark chocolate foody scent, with a hint of almonds and is seriously good enough to eat.
With Enchantress, although the initial scent is very chocolatey, this is a lighter, more milky chocolate scent. Once the scent has settled on my skin for a few minutes, the beautiful vanilla base came through, and this had a hint of dark chocolate to it. In my opinion, despite this being a chocolatey fragrance, I wouldn't describe this as a foody scent at all. It is the kind of chocolate you would want to roll around in with a partner rather than a bar of chocolate you might pop in your lunch box! It is an incredibly seductive scent, and very, very sexy. Wearing it makes me feel quite indulgent, so it is a scent I think I will save for special occasions rather than wearing it every day.
The droplets come in a perfume oil form as standard, but can be made in EDP by request if preferred. I had Enchantress in perfume oil, and it was extremely long-lasting on my skin- I could still smell it after 12 hours which I thought was really impressive. The droplet had a little dabber attached to the underside of the lid, which meant it was easy to apply, and also helped me control exactly how much oil I wanted to use. I think it has made me realised just how much perfume I must waste by sleepily spraying bottles in the morning without aiming them directly at my skin!
In summary I really can't recommend this scent highly enough. It is utterly gorgeous- a really tempting, sensual scent, that really made me fall under its spell, exactly as the scent description said. It is very long-lasting, making it better value for money than as you won't need to reapply it. This scent can also be made into body scrubs, bath salts, body wash, or body cream, and as everything is hand made to order, products can often be tailored to your needs. Enchantress really is an amazing scent, and another superb fragrance by Enchanted.
The Enchanted Darkside Collection is made up of 5 different scents, one of them being Temptress Of The Night. It is a gorgeous scent of Amber, Vanilla Musk and Warmed Milk. It is available in everything www.enchantedbath.co.uk has to offer but I have it in the perfume oil form.
Firstly, this is a great product to use. Most perfume oils I find to be really greasy and I steer clear of them but this one is not greasy at all. It absorbs into the skin almost immediately and I have been clumsy and spilt a little bit on to a top I was wearing but it didn't stain once it was put into the wash which is a first for any perfume oil I have used!
On to the scent. In one word - gorgeous! Long lasting and not overpowering. This is a beautifully mild scent which lingers and lingers. It is one of the best vanilla based perfumes I have had the fortune to smell. It is a very warm, comforting scent. I always picture nighttime and candles and a nice blanket it when I am wearing it. I asbolutely adore it and be without it in my perfume collection.
It is available as a 5ml perfume oil and comes in a nice little bottle and costs £8.00 per bottle.
