Part of my job is arranging conferences and meetings for up to 180 people, and this means I have to visit quite a lot of hotels to find the right venue for each one. Most hotels give you a little goodie bag when you visit them for the first time, and two places I visited late last year included sample sets from the range stocked by their spas. This range was ESPA, which I had never heard of before.
I had a number of products to try out, and gave ones which I didn't think I would use to my mum. One product I was keen to try was the 24 Hour Replenishing Moisturiser. I tend to have dry skin, and am always looking for a better moisturiser. I don't normally pay more than £7 for a moisturiser, so to have one which sells at £41 full size (55ml, also available at £17.50 for 15ml) to try was a bit of a treat.
I adore the smell of spas. I've only ever had two spa treatments in my life, but I always get taken into the spa when on my hotel inspections. I'm sure some conference managers have thought I'm a bit odd for standing sniffing happily, but most seem to understand. Spa products just smell gorgeous, and that general "spa fragrance" was what drifted out of the tube of ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Moisturiser. The thought of making my skin smell like that without having to visit a spa and spend a fortune was quite appealing.
The moisturiser itself is pale cream in colour, and came out of the tube easily. I've also had two little glass pots of the moisturiser, and I definitely prefer the tube, although the glass pots are very attractive and look pretty in my bathroom. The sample pots really are quite tiny, and there's no way to get moisturiser onto my fingertip without also getting it under my fingernail, which you can avoid with a larger pot.
I find the moisturiser easy to smooth onto my skin, and it is absorbed quickly, but it is a bit thicker than the cheaper moisturisers I am used to, and so I need to use a bit more of it to cover my face. It leaves my skin soft and smooth, and although it feels like I have only just applied it for some time after it is all absorbed, it is not an unpleasant feeling - it simply feels like I have moisturised with a good quality moisturiser.
Using the ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Moisturiser everyday left my skin in great condition. I had less dry patches than normal, and my skin was smoother than usual. After I had used up the first pot and most of the tube, I switched back to my regular moisturiser so as not to use up all the good stuff, and despite having been happy with my regular moisturiser before I started using the ESPA one, I could tell that it wasn't looking after my skin quite as well as the ESPA one. Plus, it didn't smell gorgeously spa-like (my regular moisturiser is Nivea Soft).
I'm now using the ESPA moisturiser daily again, working my way through the second little pot, and I'm a bit concerned that I'm going to have to buy some, which would mean a big increase in my skincare costs (particularly as I'm also getting hooked on a couple of other products I've had samples of). It really is a luxurious product, lovely to use and with great results, yet using it every day does not diminish the feeling of luxury that it gives me - I still love the moment I open the pot and smell that spa fragrance.
